Kayla's POV
Mateo? What was he doing here, all alone with Kendall? There was something fishy for sure. Not only that, they were both locked behind closed doors. I was sure when I heard the keys turn. Why would Kendall take the risk of letting him in, knowing fully aware she was at Adrian's house?
Well, I was gonna pester her till she got all my questions answered, I said to myself. I adjusted my bag on my shoulder and walked in. I was really curious to know shit happening. Good thing I met them both here.

"Hey babe", I said as I ran to enclose her open arms. She hugged me really tight. I felt my tummy squeeze a little, lol.
"Kayla, you kept me waiting. What took you long?", Kendall asked, finally loosening my body from her tight arms.
"I'm so sorry. Just some bad traffic and you know, the weather isn't too good out there", I apologized, rather not sincerely.
"Good thing you arrived here safely, atleast. Let's get started, the time is limited", Kendall smiled.
"Not until you tell me why Mateo was here some minutes ago", I hesitated, crossing my both arms.
"Oh, that? I'm gonna tell you everything later, okay?", she asked, with an assuring tone. I nodded my head in response. I had to help her get dressed as fast as possible.
I wasn't here to celebrate with her or be a witness of her engagement party. I was on a deadly mission here, tonight and I wouldn't dare leave till I had gotten what I wanted.
Kendall had been my best friend for a good number of years, but she ruined my life beyond repair in the past. I couldn't bear seeing her happy now. She didn't deserve a bit of happiness. Her best friend was gonna be her closest enemy tonight and onwards.
Tonight, I was gonna make her walk herself into her worst nightmares. She'd be digging her very own grave with her bare hands. I bet on that. And no one, I repeat, no one could save her from my clutches. I had been waiting for this day. The day of my vengeance.
Karma never dies.

Adrian's POV
Planning our engagement party put me through sleepless nights this whole week. It was a really tedious activity. I didn't want to involve Kendall in all of it because of her condition. Stress wasn't a thing meant to be a part in her life now.
From the printing press to get our invitation cards ready, ensuring they were widely distributed across to our expected guests, inspecting the interior decorations to ensure it met up to my guests' expectations.
The food and drinks for entertainment weren't left out either. Good thing Kendall's mom opted to cover them all as a caterer, including the cake services. All free of charge. She wasn't taking a dime from me.
I had been honoured to taste her dishes on several occasions I visited at her place and I had always left craving for more. She was a good cook, Kendall was also learning great from her too.
Of all the invited guests, my friends turned up, I could see most of my high school friends, college friends, family friends and a lots more of people I had invited. I created time to walk up to greet some few persons before racing back to my room to get dressed.
Everyone but two weren't present yet, my parents! Were they really not going to attend my party? I had tried reaching out to them earlier but both their numbers were switched off. It felt strange to me. I really hoped they were safe wherever they were.
The party was going as planned. I was only afraid my parents would get seriously mad at me once I'd gotten through with my engagement. There was no damn sign of them attending the party. Anyways, I wouldn't call it off because of them.
