Chapter 9 - Party time!

Kayla's POV

"You appear much more stunning, tonight", I confessed. "I bet Adrian won't be able to take his eyes off you", I grinned, watching Kendall admire herself in the mirror.

"Awww", she smiled, as her cheeks went red.

Well, that smile was gonna fade away sooner. It will vanish into the thin air. Life wasn't gonna give her a chance to be happy after tonight, never. I had to work out my plan as soon as possible.

"Do you mind if we go get a drink?", I asked, grabbing my bag from her drawer.

"Offcourse not. I don't mind, let's get going", she answered, pulling me to the door. She seemed really high-spirited. I forced a smile on my face as I walked beside her. It wasn't obvious.

We took the stairs down really quick. I could see the happy faces of the guests. Music from the speakers thumped out loudly. The party was yet to begin. The party was indeed planned well. Everyone was giving out crazy vibes. A nice view indeed.

My eyes scanned through till it met the bar. We walked over with our fingers intertwined with one another's. We admired the interior decors till we reached the bar.

"Drink for two, please", I requested. I gave referral to a blonde lady. She was the only available bartender at the moment. She looked in her early thirties, though still attractive.

She immediately served two filled glasses on the counter.

"Thank you ma'am", I smiled. She nodded and went to attend to others. I looked over to where  Kendall was. She had gone over to welcome her guests. This was the perfect time to carry out my mission. I looked around carefully to ensure no one was watching me the whole time.

I unzipped my bag and got out the drugs I had bought specially for her. Maybe, this was my gift to her, tonight. Good thing it was in a powdery form. I quickly shook it into her drink. It was a truth serum. I tilted the glass slightly to both sides till I was satisfied it had mixed well.

Luckily, my eyes caught a nearby trashcan, I disposed the remaining drugs and walked up to meet her. She was still talking with the guests. I couldn't wait much longer. I ran out of patience.

"Em, sorry. Excuse us, please", I pleaded with a guest as I pulled Kendall away. I had to do it in a polite manner. "You were so carried away. Here, have you drink, uh?", I said, trying not to look suspicious.

"Oh, yeah! Cheers to our friendship and my engagement tonight", she said as we toasted our glasses in unison.

"I'm so happy for you, babe", I grinned widely.

"Thanks, girl. God knows how long I'd been waiting for this day and here it is", Kendall smiled.

We both took a sip from our glasses and continued our discussion. In less than five minutes, the glasses were empty. A waiter came and took both glasses away as he passed by.

"Let's go party on, Kendie", I said, dragging her along. She staggered backwards. I could hear her utter a few words.

"I think I want to rest. I have developed a really bad ache in my head", she said. She gripped my arms firmly to support herself.

I saw the drugs finally come to effect. She was beginning to feel dizzy. It was working perfectly. "Oh, shit! How did this happen? Just wait here. Don't go anywhere, I'll go get Adrian right away", I said, without waiting for a response. I dashed out into the midst of the guests.

"Adrian, you need to come with me. Kendall isn't feeling good", I broke out as I pulled him away from a guest. I could see the tension written all over his face.

"Kendall? OMG! Where's she?", he asked, looking so worried. I led him by hand to the point I left her. She was staggering as she attempted making way to get support from the wall. She almost fell. Adrian caught her right in the air.

She looked like she was in a really bad state. Adrian looked like he wanted to tear up seeing her in that condition. I saw Adrian lift her in his arms like a newborn baby. He was heading to his bedroom, I guessed.

"Thank me later, Adrian", I smiled to myself as I flounced out of the party. I wished I could watch the rest of the unfolding endless dramas but I couldn't take chances.
