The alarm echoed throughout the room, the sound was sharp and loud, not something you could easily miss and yet, no one moved to get up and turn it off. So it continued, slowly getting louder and louder, filling the room and drifting down the hallway, if there was anyone downstairs, they probably would have heard it too. Lorelai was, in fact, already awake, just laying there in bed not wanting to get up, but at the same time, there was no point as she hardly slept at all, ever. It had been the same as far back as she could remember but then again, she had no memories of her childhood, when she might have been happy, whenever that was.
Lorelai groaned, knowing that she'd have to get up and deal with "life", but like many days, she fought herself on actually getting up, wishing for nothing more than a way out. But there wasn't one, or at least, she hadn't found it yet, recalling as she continued to lay in bed all the pain she felt after each unsuccessful attempt. However, as the pit in her stomach made itself known, the memories of those times hit Lorelai all at once, but unlike the majority of times, it was more than just visions. Lorelai's whole body began to relive that trauma, but it was not only her pain she felt in that moment, something much worse, something she would do everything in her power to prevent from occurring a second time.
Of course, with Lorelai's stomach once again demanding to be fed, she finally got up, snapping out of her bad thoughts and making it to her feet within a matter of seconds. She didn't mean to move so fast, due to the sudden twinge of pain, Lorelai shot up from off the mattress rather than simply sitting up and taking her time. The pain caught her off guard, somehow, which would certainly be a surprise in it of itself as this was hardly the first time her stomach cried out for food. Lorelai's seemingly endless hunger was a constant in her life and yet, she still managed to forget about it from time to time along with the pain of suddenly moving would cause her.
"I'm a fucking idiot," the words came out just above a whisper and in a grumbly sort of tone, clearly verbalizing the pain she was in, with Lorelai continuing her complaint after a short pause. "I can understand the basic formulas of quantum mechanics and yet I forget almost every time that not eating is bad and moving too fast is almost worse," she let out an exasperated sigh as if dealing with an out-of-control toddler who you'd have to keep reminding not to touch something, only to have them break that thing, hurt themselves in the process, and now you're stuck with a huge mess and a screaming, injured child. Lorelai let out another sigh, ready to continue berating herself but with the pain in her stomach only getting worse, she wandered over to the bathroom to get ready for the day, stretching as she went, it didn't do much for her but Lorelai did it all the same.
However, Lorelai quite enjoyed the sounds her body made as she bent this way and that, although the volume of such cracking noises would make the average person concerned she actually broke something. It was because her body was in a permanent state of stiffness, there was always a slight but constant pain that ached in every cell of her body, but Lorelai enjoyed making it a little worse just for a moment. Don't get it twisted though, when she needed to move, Lorelai could do it, better than you could ever hope for, no matter how long or hard you trained, she could run circles around you. But then again, there was no one quite like her, or at least, you better hope that was the case, as an Army made up of people like Lorelai O'Siris could mean the end of the world.
Lorelai didn't even bother gazing at her reflection as she wandered past the mirror and sink, simply stretching and stripping, wanting to avoid her nagging conscious for as long as possible. So as a result, she spent a few extra minutes in the shower that morning, but in the end, Lorelai had to face the music, with her gaze falling on the framed little note sitting next to the sink. It was a list of rules Lorelai went by to get through life and something she'd remind herself of every morning. Rule 1: Don't Get Caught, Rule 2: No Dating or Long-Term Relationships, and Rule 3: No Matter What I Can't Stay In One Place For More Than 12 Years. It might have seemed silly, unnecessary, and or annoying, going over something like this but there was a reason Lorelai did, and she wouldn't let herself forget.
Lorelai felt slightly uncomfortable every single time she went over those rules, finding her left hand running along the back of her head when she remembered something else.
It was her hair, Lorelai recalled last night's activities and it was always the same, for some reason when she did THAT, her grey-brown hair would grow longer. Of course, her hair being visibly longer than the last time she was in public didn't seem like a problem on the surface but it went from skimming her jaw to just past her shoulders. It didn't seem to be long enough to pass for extensions, plus it wasn't exactly her style, so Lorelai cut the extra hair off like usual, making quick work of it after pulling out the shears she kept in her ensuite. By the time Lorelai was done, she had a messy rocker bob again, cutting it a centimeter or two shorter than before as she could never get it to match exactly. Before leaving though Lorelai took a minute to add a bit of colour corrector for her massive eye bags and a little blush on different parts of her face so that her very pale skin appeared a little less dead. While doing so she was thinking about how grateful she was that her eyes were at least normal-ish, they were usually a silvery shade of grey-blue, a rare eye colour but not unheard of. The thought of having to constantly wear contacts to hide fiery orange-yellow eyes was absolutely maddening.
She let her mind drift away from those thoughts as she headed over to her closet, quickly picking out what to wear, well, more accurately, like usual, Lorelai grabbed the first things she saw. To be honest, she wasn't all that fashionable, merely looking up certain types of styles, picking a picture she liked and wearing said outfit pretty much every day just in different colours. As it was an easy option for her height and body type Lorelai went with the classic tomboy style, as after all, she did appear similar to a tall gangly child, nearly pushing six feet in height. Not only that but with her butt and breasts on the smaller side, her being slender with a slight muscular build, and her sharp androgynous features, she was often mistaken as a young and "pretty" man. The only thing Lorelai had going for her in the "feminine" department was her wider-than-average hips, long legs, and little to no body hair. So Lorelai's choice outfit of a plain tank top, sneakers, ripped loose-fitting jeans, plus a leather jacket, hoodie and or flannel was a good fit for her.
Today's outfit consisted of a plain white tank top, and a grey sweatshirt from some random college thousands of kilometres away, the bottom hem was all worn out but in that cool, acceptable fashion-forward kind of way. Lorelai then grabbed a plain black belt to keep her ripped and paint-covered bleach patchwork jeans from falling down. She then took a moment to pick out two different socks next grabbing her high tops and leather jacket before finally heading downstairs. Lorelai did debate whether or not to put on more than that, as it was supposed to be chilly today but as she wouldn't get cold, or hot for that matter, she decided she would be fine as is.
Lorelai then double-checked if she had all of her homework in her bag, along with her phone, bus pass, and keys before making her morning smoothie. It was always sweet and protein-heavy, with her adding about a cup of a strange-smelling coarse powder that she kept in the back of the cupboard. She then poured said smoothie into an oddly cute and sparkly rainbow unicorn to-go cup before grabbing her bag and her drink and heading for the door. She took a sip, after locking her front door but before turning around to walk away, Lorelai found that there was something hard in her smoothie, nearly choking on it. She knew it couldn't be a seed, as this recipe didn't have any ingredients where one could be found, except for the apples but an apple seed wouldn't feel like this or be this big. She pulled the small hard object out from her mouth, inspecting it, finding that it was, in fact, a human tooth, and on closer inspection, Lorelai recognized it as a Lateral Incisor from the upper jaw.
Perhaps there was a look of surprise on her face but it quickly faded, not to mortified or any other form of horror, it was annoyance taking its place instead. "Come on, do I have to replace the blades already? Lifetime guarantee my ass" Lorelai mutters, knowing the hassle of replacing any part of one of her machines. "It's not a big deal, I can handle this later," Lorelai said, taking a deep breath, pinching the bridge of her nose as she does so, before quickly hurrying down the stairs, knowing that she needed to run now or she'd be late.
Lorelai knew she couldn't just throw the tooth out in case it was found by someone, I mean, the chance of that happening was small but still, she wasn't going to take that chance. She knew it wasn't dirty as she clean the bones herself but it was still one of her least favourite parts, Lorelai shrugged it off though, quickly popping the tooth back in her mouth. She quickly slipped it in between the Molars on the right side of her jaw and in one bite, the tooth in question was crushed as if it were a little piece of ice cracking under one's foot, with Lorelai quite enjoying that sound. "Well, at least being undead keeps things interesting," Lorelai told herself, half joking, soon letting out a huff before running off to her destination, knowing she couldn't be late, not again. In all honesty though, it usually wasn't that interesting, she didn't think so anyway, in the beginning, sure, everything seemed so cool and shiny, like a new toy but it soon lost its charm. There was only one thing in this life she looked forward to and Lorelai was keeping her waiting.
