Chapter 5 - Alice Looking for Ideas

Arriving at the inn Alice looked confused. He was seen pacing and occasionally biting his lip and stroking his hair. Like people who are thinking hard and have not found the answer. Seeing that the sight was not good, the younger brother also reprimanded him.

"Sis, what are you thinking? Is something bothering you?" Erik asked.

"I'm confused, Eryk, about how to get clear and accurate information about Marck. Should we ask the locals? Honestly, I still doubt Mr. John's explanation, shouldn't we conclude a case from only one party?" Alice said looking at her sister.

"That's true, Sis. How about we ask everyone we meet about Marck? If their opinion is the same as Mr. John's, then we will inform Luna," Eryk suggested to his brother.

"Okay, Eryk, but what if people are suspicious of us if everyone we meet asks about Marck? I'm afraid that if one of these people is a worker from the Marck family, we're finished," Alice said.

Eryk immediately smiled at the words and expressions of his brother who seemed innocent.

"I mean everyone, for example, we buy food, we ask the food seller, Sis. So it's not everyone on the street that we meet, we ask," explained Eryk.

"You're really smart, Eryk. It's not in vain that you brought you here," Alice said.

Suddenly, Charlie's neighboring sound was heard, and Alice and Eryk immediately came out to Luna's favorite dashing horse.

"What happened Charlie?" Alice cried.

"Maybe he's hungry, I forgot to feed him this morning," Eryk said.

"Oh my God, are you trying to suffocate him Eryk?" Alice asked.

"Sister wait here, I will come back with food," Eryk said as he ran.

Not long after his sister left, came Mr. Henry the innkeeper.

"Good morning Miss Alice, did you have a good night's sleep at my inn?" Mr. Henry said.

"Sure sir, this place is so comfortable," Alice replied.

"Thank God, then I want to clean the backyard first, Miss," Mr. Henry said.

Mr. Henry also stepped into the backyard, but Mr. Henry's steps were stopped by Alice.

"Wait a minute sir, may I ask you something?" Alice cried.

The innkeeper immediately stopped his footsteps.

"Of course Miss, what are you going to ask me about? If I had known I would have answered your question," Mr. Henry said.

"So it's like this, Sir, our purpose and purpose in coming to this city is to meet Mr. Marck Haugert to find work. Do you know him? " Alice said.

An uneasy face came over to Mr. Henry when the young girl mentioned Marck's name.

"Of course I recognize him, the whole city I think will also recognize him including ants, mice, and other animals." replied the innkeeper sarcastically.

Mr. Henry's answer made Alice even more curious. What's wrong with Mark and his family?

Excuse me, sir, what do you mean sir?" Alice asked.

"Miss, it's better for you to find another job. Their family is notorious for being cruel, and there may be a lot of negative things that I can't explain," Mr. Henry said.

Not long after, Eryk came with several bags of food. He politely greeted the innkeeper.

"Morning sir," Eryck said.

"Morning son," Mr. Henry said.

"Sir, I brought a lot of food. Would you like to have breakfast with us," Eryk asked.

"No son, I've eaten and now want to clean the backyard," Mr. Henry said

"Master, come on we beg you don't refuse this food," Alice whined.

Seeing Alice's unusual and forced behavior, Eryk began to understand if there was something Alice was aiming for.

"Sir, I beg you. Come eat with us," Eryk askes, trying to help his brother.

The middle-aged man couldn't resist the cries of the two brothers.

"Okay, I'll have breakfast with you," Mr. Henry said, agreeing.

The brothers also seemed happy if Mr. Henry agreed to their request.

Come in, sir," Eryk said.

"Shall we eat in the backyard? It's very cozy there," suggested Mr. Henry.

"Okay sir," Alice said smiling.

The three of them walked towards the backyard, Alice and her sister seemed to be walking behind Mr. Henry. Don't forget to give Eryk a bunch of vegetables for Charlie.

"Charlie, here's your meal," shouted Eryk, throwing vegetables at Charlie.

"We eat here," Mr. Henry said, stopping his steps.

Sure enough, a shady atmosphere is presented here, groves of trees and rows of colorful flowers adorn the backyard of this inn.

The three of them also enjoyed a piece of bread and a few pieces of other food voraciously.

"Oh yes sir, is Mr. Marck's family as bad as the people here say?" she asked.

"That's the truth, Miss. Even one of her workers, who has now been laid off, told her parents that the family embraced black magic," Mr. Henry replied.

"Black magic?" Alice asked in surprise.

"The news is like Miss, and once every few years they often sacrifice a girl who is still holy to be offered as a servant to Mrs. Lidora. The information comes from the former servant," Mr. Henry said.

"Really? Where does the terminated worker live?" she asked.

"I don't know, they're not in this city anymore. They're scared of the Haugert," Mr. Henry replied.

The girl was silent, while the younger brother began to understand this is what made Alice whine wanting Mr. Henry to join them.

"Mr. Henry, what do you mean by Dark Arts?" Eryk asked curiously.

"I don't understand either, that's what surprised us. A wolf that lives in the forest but every full moon comes to the Haugert family and tries to enter their house," Mr. Henry said.

"Have you seen it yourself, sir?" Alice askes.

"Sure, that's why I dared to say because I saw it with my own eyes, Miss," Mr. Henry replied.

"Did that pack of wolves manage to enter the Haugen family's house?" she asked.

"No Miss, strangely when they started approaching the Haugert family's luxurious house they seemed to bounce and howl in pain. Their house seemed to be protected by something," Mr. Henry said.

"Sorry Miss, I think I have to clean the backyard soon. Because after this my wife and I will go to trade," Mr. Henry said.

"Yes sir, thanks for the information," Alice said.

Mr. Henry just nodded and smiled, then he headed for the backyard.

While Alice began to be confused, her heart began to confuse hearing the information from Mr. Henry which she thought was taboo. Her heart started to get nervous, her body was shaking, and it felt like she wanted to go back to the village as soon as possible to tell Luna about the information she got about her future husband's family.
