Chapter 21 - Carl

Alvira mindfully strolled out of the office over to her cabin to go get her work done. She instantly started typing on the keyboard placed Infront. She sent the copy which he requested for and went on to the other instruction she was given.

Time flew as she attended to pended works and those she had just started with, thankfully she was efficient, in less than two hours she was almost rounding up and it was left with an another two hours before lunch.

"Hi!" Alvira paused the movement on her keyboard when she heard voice greet her. A shadow reflected on the table which she traced till she looked up at the person who's voice she just heard.

"Hi." She replied, squinting her brows in trying to remember if they have met before.

"I'm carl." The guy implied stretching forth his hand for a handshake.

Alvira reciprocated his gesture. "I'm Alvira."

"Nice meeting you again." Carl said to her with a smile exposing his set of fine white teeth.

She pulled off from the hand shake. "Again?" She muttered, some worth confused.

"Ohh you don't remember? that's not a problem."

"Excuse me do we know each other?" She asked him.

"Not really, we only met yesterday when you were with your sister. You guys requested for directions to the canteen. Remember?" Carl explain to her.

Alvira's brows furrowed 'Sister... ' Oh now she gets it. She offered him a smile of recognization. "Yes I do, thanks for yesterday."

"You are welcome. I didn't know you were bout to work here." He immediately engaged her in conversation.

"Yes, I got the job and was here for the orientation yesterday." Alvira told, continuing her work on the system.

"What about your sister, Did she join you?"

"No," She gave a soft chuckle then continue. "She's my friend, not my sister and she accompanied me for the orientation. She doesn't work here."

"Oh. I see you are kinda busy, maybe later...? at lunch?" Carl stylishly asked her.

"Mmmm I don't know but I'll see." Alvira replied unsure, because messing up on her first day of work was the last thing she wanted doing. Ever!.

"Alright then, Good bye." Carl waved and left.

Alvira continued with her work after he had Gone. She needed to quickly cause she needed some rest. Her early wake of around four was greatly taking a toil on her and she needed a break.

It was great that he hadn't called her again after that morning. Maybe this is one of the advantages perks she gets. He doesn't likes to disturb much and she hope it remains like this forever. "Phew." She blew air passing through the stream of the small space from her lips.

Her phone rang. She picked it up seeing it's Kayla on the line. "Hello?"

"Al, how are you? You left early this morning and you didn't even wake me to say you are going." Kayla's voice boomed on the line with no pause, even before Alvira's 'hello' could drop. Even the 'How are you' she asked wasn't laced with any emotions instead it was anger.

Alvira squeezed her eyes shut and exhaled before speaking. "Kay I'm sorry, I didn't want to waste anytime and besides I know you, you wouldn't want to wake that early so I decided to leave and not wake you up." Alvira said to her on the phone. She was already tired she didn't want more problems queuing up to lend her more stress.

"Fine I understand, but did you even eat a thing?" Kayla asked, this time with concern.

"I'll get something during lunch."

"Alright fine, I hang up now, be sure to come home early, I'll prepare something for you." Kayla said and then ended the call.

Alvira sighed loud, Kayla can be like a mother hen sometimes. She giggled softly with this thought.

Like that time flew fast as expected and it was time for lunch. All the other employees have already gone to get their lunch and she was about going to get hers when she paused. As the personal assistant to the CEO, she has to bring him Lunch isn't she? 'Obviously' She automatically answered herself.

Alvira walked over to his office and gently knocked on the door.

"Come in."

She opened the door and walked in. "Will you like anything for lunch sir?" She asked in a professional manner.

"No I don't." His curt reply stunned her. Just when she was about muttering something In her mind, she abruptly stopped. Remembering how he always manage to reply to words she says mentally. "Okay I'll take my leave now. If you don't need anything, then I'll be having lunch with the rest." She quietly turned around and left.

All this while he hadn't even thrown a fleeting glance at her, his sole concentration was on his computer.

Alvira left, going back to her cabin, only to see the guy who she talked with earlier morning. He flashed a smile at her and she returned it with that of a friendly one. Of course he's here for the proposed lunch together. Well now she's sure that she's less busy, she can probably have lunch with him.
