Chapter 19 - Luck Has Done It Again

This is it. The tenseness she was feeling somehow found its way seeping out of her. It was getting too much and she felt like if it turns out the way she dreaded it to, then she will surely faint or explode with utter terror that was building up inside of her, so badly.

In the next twenty seconds, she could hear footsteps approaching, she needed no one to tell her who it is. The steps alone weighed power and authority as it landed with each step on the tiled and marbled floor. Her head was faced down all this while in a bowing stance. Whoever he is, she didn't want to offend on her first day.

When the sound of the steps drew nearer, her breaths became quicker. 'God...just end this torture already' The voice in her brain echoed.

Before she could clear her head, the awaited person halted right in front of her, she could see the shiny expensive leather shoes while bending her head. She lowered her head more instead of looking up. "Good Morning Boss." She greeted before anyone could tell her what to do. Yet no reply was given, silence reigned over the vicinity,. making her nerves twist more in the pit of stomach. 'You can do this Alvira, just....just go for it.' She encouraged herself with all the little might she had left, She eased herself with the aid of heaving an heavy sigh, before dragging her head up animatedly. Tracing from his shoes upwards.

"...." And just as she dreaded, it was a familiar face and figure, except in a professional stance now. Her eyes were glued to him. Just as she guessed right. He is the CEO of the Li Empire. This is just Wow!.

She didn't know if she should laugh sardonically at herself or cry in correspondence with how she is feeling right this minute. She didn't know what to say to him anymore after the greetings, is she supposed to escort him inside his office or just stand there and wait for any command thrown at her to execute. This was weird for her, alot weird and knew she could need some time to adjust to this.

He strolled passes her after exchanging gazes long enough. Seems that luck was on her side, or rather is she supposed to feel bad because he didn't even have an expression of someone who remembered her. Again! double wow! Luck...you have done it again. Always having a two side effect. You can't have your cake and then eat again, not ever possible. She was the one that hoped for something not catchy and awkward and now she got it so.....? what reason does she have to feel a sting in her heart.

"Mrs Alvira, that was the CEO, Master Ezra Li." The man who had, had that lesson with her earlier told her just now. She wasn't even aware of his presence if not now that he made it known.

"Oh, I know, thank you once again for everything." Alvira responded putting on a wide and thankful smile, which instantly vanished after he left.

Here she goes, her miserable life's starts now. Alvira respectively turned and entered into the office. "Good Morning sir." She greeted again and still got no reply. She waved it off. "How will you like your morning coffee sir?"

Atleast this elicited a reaction from him, Ezra looked at her for not even up to two seconds before going back to his work on his laptop. "You should know that if you were sent here." That was his curt reply to her simple question.

Alvira nodded slowly. "I understand." That was all she mumbled before finding her way out of his office.

Too bad she didn't see the way his gaze lingered at her back as she made her exit.

In less than ten minutes she was back, with a mini coffee tray and a coffee cup in it. The steam coming out from it was enough to tell the coffee was just brewed and is very burning hot. "Here is coffee Sir." She said as she dropped it on the table beside him.

He gave it look and as if she knew what was on his mind she hurriedly said. "Black and strong, just the way you like it. Only milk and no extra sugar, scalding hot." She mentioned one by one, all his preferences to him.

Ezra raised his brows at explanation.

But she knew it was not a sign that he was impressed.

"Enjoy your coffee sir, I shall take my leave now." Alvira muttered before leaving, closing the door behind her. Already she was given a position just outside his office, where other staff were too, and some which were selected with her from their previous work place. She was grateful that she wasn't given some private office of hers because of her title as the personal assistant to the CEO. She wouldn't have like that. She liked to be in the midst of company, and that was the only thing that went in accordance to her wish among every other thing related to this 'Job.'
