The morning dawn penetrated it's light right through the Glass windows with curtains swept aside. The bright light reflected steadily on his closed eyes making him falter them before slowly opening them up.
He took his hands to block the brightness of the light from getting into his eyes while getting to adjust to it. When he did, he looked around but found no trace of familiarity, but with the famished style and the smell of lodoform and antiseptic, he knew that he was in the hospital. He dragged himself to seat, leaning against the headboard.
Memories of what happened last night came sinking in, he shut his eyes tight and then released them. The girl that saved him or rather he saved, because technically if hadn't shown her the way out she would have been stuck there for life and that's for sure, so they both saved each other. He Wondered how he ended up in the hospital. Throwing his head back on the headboard, he inhaled huge fits of air before exhaling. Any moment from now his Men will be here and he knew it. He patiently closed his eyes to relax till then.
The door was slowly pushed open, he didn't move but remained in his position making the person who got in to think he was probably asleep. He heard the footsteps coming further in.
Alvira who just got in was quite taken aback coming to see him still sleeping, she thought he was still unconscious.
"Is he still unconscious?" Kayla who was with her whispered to her ears earning a sarcastic glare from Alvira.
"If he was, wouldn't you have met him properly laid on the bed?" Alvira responded.
"Ohh then...?"
"He must be sleeping, I think." Alvira implored not sure herself.
A vibration tone rang out, it turned out to be coming from Kayla's phone. "I have to go now, it's Mr Fu. I will be doomed if he gets there before me." Kayla waved at Alvira before taking off.
While Kayla was gone, Alvira patiently moved forward to find a seat. She decided to wait a little before she goes, after all she brought him breakfast. She looked at the time on her phone screen and it was almost nine thirty, meaning that she's already too late for work.
"What are you doing here?"
His deep voice startled her. "I...I thought you were asleep?" It rang out more like a question.
He was silent just staring at her making her feel weird.
"Why is he always acting creepy?" She murmured underneath her breath.
"Am I?" He asked her.
"Huh what?" Her eyes widen. 'Oh my God! did he hear me. But I whispered didn't I?' She screamed in her mind.
"Mmm you did." He replied again making her already widen eyes stretched further.
She blinked several times and cleared her throat. "I'm sorry sir but were you...mmm.. talking to me?"
"You didn't answer my question and I don't like to repeat." He told her.
"Uhmm what am I doing here? I brought you breakfast." She said lifting the flask up for him to see.
He looked at it and then at her. "I don't eat food from strangers." He looked away.
Alvira sighed. "Sir, I know I'm a stranger to you but trust me I have no ulterior motive with you. I just brought this because it's good for an injured person." Alvira explained to him, but he kept looking at her with that same blatant stare.
"Oh am I kidding." She muttered, she twisting the flask open, picked up the spoon and took a scoop of the porridge, she swiftly fed it to herself while he watched her like he was watching a boring documentary.
"See Sir? I ate it, meaning I didn't poison it or any sort."
What she just did right now was like some sort of entertainment because he paid no heed to her and closed his eyes just the same way she and Kayla met him upon their entry into the ward.
'Who could believe a very handsome and matured man would be acting so childishly.' She conceited in her mind so he wouldn't hear her like earlier but to her surprise, he immediately opened his eyes and gave her a glare making her to choke on the food she was about to swallow.
Series of coughs left her mouth as she patted her chest to calm herself down. A jar of water was on the table, she grabbed it on the spot and drank from it. She heaved a sigh after she stopped coughing. Only to see him looking keenly at her like he suspected something, getting the cue, she gasped. "No no no no no, I promise I didn't put anything inside. I was just taken aback by your glare that's all." She raised her left hand up in a swearing gesture.
The look he gave her didn't falter, he alternated his gaze from her to the food and to her again consideringly. She gave him a coaxing nod.
