Micheal stares intently at the scene below, not missing a second of the brutal battle. There is a large monstorized bear fighting a mutated butterfly that was the same height as a human. Distance cries of wolves are heard in the background and monster hogs are fighting large raccoons off to the side.
(What a crude scene, right human?) asked Uriel mentally. With so many predators around they needed to be careful of making the slightest sound.
(Yes it's crude, but for me it's a feast. While we wait, do you know of any light element techniques? It's about time I get stronger.) Michael has started formulating his plans in his mind.
(Of course, I can mentally transfer them into your mind but it's up to you to implement them and train your body to become accustomed to the techniques. I'll only send those that are up to E Rank.)
(Fine, I'll practice after we collect the goods and find somewhere to rest.)
The battle between monsters was grueling and loud. Michael felt that every monster in front of him was a stepping stone for him to grow stronger. His predator instincts kicked in and his senses heightened. He breathed slowly, sure not to miss the most opportune time to strike the final blow on the victor. Two hours later, the final monster standing was the butterfly who barely won over the bear using poison. As the butterfly monster was feasting on the bear's stomach, Michael plunged down in one swoop knife in hand, targeting the head of the butterfly. As the butterfly felt something was amiss ready to flee, the knife was already through its head, an instant death.
(Uriel, help me take all the cores, we need to leave quickly and find a cave near a body of water.) said Michael as he quickly went to look for the Monster's core.
(Why a body of water human?)
(Because we can wash and mask the smell of blood and death. If monsters are like animals in my world, then they're sensitive to that.)
After searching for about an hour, Michael and Uriel find a water fall in a lushes green cove. It leads into a small stream that feeds in to a river pool. Behind the waterfall is a cave around ten feet deep. Michael is absorbing the cores to boost his body's stats. He wants to have the ability to keep up with the techniques that he's going to learn.
"Corvinus, what is your plans for the future? Are we just going to scavenge until we gain enough strength to rule this world?" Uriel felt that Michael should be ready to act now that he has learned about this world.
"I'm going to get strong enough and reach C Rank before entering into the world's most prestigious high school. There I'll learn the history and layout of this world while also scoping out those I need to surpass. After that I should have the information needed on how to contend against this world's top superpowers."
"That plan is sound but you'll only be able to reach E Rank in this dungeon. Meaning we will have to travel to different dungeons. I suggest dungeons that coincide with your elemental affinities."
Michael understood what Uriel meant and kept devouring the cores in his hands.
"I not only need to catch up Uriel, I need to surpass them." Said Michael seriously
"No one can absorb and devour like you can. They had a head start but those advantages will continue to slow down. You need to build up your techniques instead of worrying about power ranks."
Michael noticed how Uriel was really good at aiding and giving advice while also allowing him to pave the way on his own.
"You're really useful Uriel, thank you." Said Michael sincerely.
"Every King or Queen needs an aid, it's the reason why we are assigned to you all. If you fail, I fail. So I'll do the best I can to help you until the end."
