Michael stares at the phone still shrouded in his stealth technique unable to grasp how his picture is on an amber alert. Even though he is dazed, his instincts kick in and he knows he must move quickly.
(Uriel we need to move fast, there are many hotels in the downtown area so we need to find the fanciest one we can see and head there immediately.) Michael was still mentally surprised but he knows when you're being hunted, time is the most important factor.
(Ok, but why a hotel? And aren't you curious as to what's going on? You basically have a million dollars on your head and we don't know why.) Uriel was his familiar and even she couldn't formulate a plan under this revelation.
(Rich tourist would never care about an amber alert nor the reward money. They also are barely ever in their rooms, so hopefully we can find an empty room to think. And, I'm very concerned about this but we will fail if we sit still for too long. This skill uses mana continuously to coat us in light, and I'm sure it's less effective at night. So we are on the clock in more ways than one.)
(How did you know about the hotels? That's a really good plan for an on the spot situation.) Uriel was once again impressed by his thought process.
(I've hunted enough people in my old life to understand how criminals think while on the run.)
As they were communicating mentally, they were walking using the reflective skill looking for a hotel. After Michael's mana ran low, they pulled their hoodies up over their heads and walked while facing the ground. The police sirens were active around them throughout this whole time causing anxiety for Uriel. She isn't used to being surrounded and hunted by so many people who are stronger than her. Finally seeing a skyscraper with the name Hilton on it, Michael grabs Uriel while ducking to the side of the building. The plan is for them to go invisible and head to the top floors to take a master room key from house cleaning. Then they'd put a do not disturb sign on the door which should allow them a few hours of peace and privacy. This plan seemed simple but if anything went wrong then they'd be in major trouble. After explaining the plan to Uriel everything went fine as the were able to secure a presidential suite. What they didn't expect was all the equipment stationed in the room they were in.
"You know what all this is?" asked Uriel as she saw a high powered telescope, a high grade magical rifle as well as a military grade bow sitting in black boxes. There were also large black cases filled with money and high ranked guns.
"Assassins, so we have good news and bad news. The good news is that they might never comeback if their assignment is a success. The bad news is that they're strong and we will probably die if they comeback."
"What in the hell human?! We need to do something!" Uriel wasn't comfortable knowing they had a dangerous enemy ready to comeback at anytime.
"We steal everything here, and then we get into a room down the hall using the master key again. We need to hurry since they'll deactivate it once they realize it's missing. The assassins will never think that we are in the same hotel either. To them, someone stealing that much gear would be long gone. Plus they'll have to answer the questions about betrayal between their organization and employer." said Michael as he started gathering all the cases together in a pile.
"How are we going to move all of this?" asked Uriel with her arms crossed.
"I know you have the space element, and a small pocket/storage dimension should be accessible at E Rank no?" Michael arched his eyebrow up and turned to look at Uriel.
"Looking into the secrets of others is inappropriate boy." said Uriel with an icy expression.
"Withholding that type of information is even more so since your sole job is to assist me. Since this is a problem how do I contact your father for someone more suited. I don't have time for these types of game Miss Angel." Michael gave Uriel a superior look of disgust as he finished his words.
Uriel understood that withholding her power from him was a personal violation of being a familiar. She's used to keeping her secrets to herself and allowed herself to fall into old habits even though this was her responsibility. Understanding her fault, she used her spatial talent on the equipment storing it all away while looking at Michael for what's next.
"Now let's find a room so I can think." Said Michael as he walked of coldly. Uriel understood that the dynamic between them has shifted drastically at the moment.
After getting a different room, Michael and Uriel finally plop down on the couch. The room that they found now was clean with no luggage inside, so he didn't worry about unwanted guest since rich tourist rarely check the guest room when they check in.
"So any idea on this bounty you have?" Asked Uriel in an awkward manner.
"It's not a bounty since it's disguised as an Amber alert but someone does want me found. I don't know who but it's someone powerful since amber alerts are statewide. Also the part about my parents is strange, I thought I was an orphan so how could I have rich parents? It seems as if someone manipulated the information so nobody would ask questions about the so called "reward."
"In Alicia's memories, there are no mentions of your parents. You were dropped at the orphanage by someone in a maid outfit and that's all they knew besides the pendant you have with your name on it."
"You mean this pendant in my pocket?" Asked Michael.
"Yes, I suppose so." Said Uriel as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Well whatever, let's see how rich we are after stealing all those goodies from the other room. Those might make escaping Atlanta a lot easier." Said Michael who didn't want to dig any deeper.
