While Michael trains to fight the rift boss, there is a conversation that's been had about him inside of the nation's capital.
"How did you lose the whereabouts of a child with no money, and no help?!" Asked a blonde haired man with facial features similar to Michael's. He's dressed in a business suit with his hair that is short but slick to the back. He's wearing a black suit with a red tie, sitting in the head office of the White House. He is Andrew Corvinus, the current head of the Corvinus clan and the United States.
"We heard about the awakening since it was premature, and when we saw the last name we hurried our men to the hospital. Once they were onsite they discovered the child left with another girl around his age. There was nothing we could do sir." This was the right hand man of the President and his most trusted follower. He sported a black on black suit with the traditional shades.
"I spent years looking for him and you finally find him just to lose him?! We need to get him and put this chapter behind me Thomas. If the First Lady finds out he's alive then all hell will break lose. Are we sure that his identity is confirmed? Said the President who stared at Thomas intently.
"Yes sir, they saw the pendant in his pants pocket while he was asleep and sent a picture of it and him over. He may be malnourished and poor but he shares your features just as much as your eldest son young master Adrian." Thomas than began to show Andrew the pictures.
"Also sir there may be another problem."
"What is it now?" Asked an agitated Andrew.
"Young Miss Ashley saw the message and the name on the pendant." Said Thomas with clear guilt on his face.
"How can you be so careless Thomas?! You've never been this sloppy." Andrew was disappointed that Thomas could let this happen like this.
She was sitting next to me on our way back and I wasn't expecting that news to come to my personal phone sir. I'll take responsibility."
"Just find him and take care of this. Put out a reward notice of one million to find a lost orphan named Michael. Don't you dare forget to redact the last name. I'll talk to Ashley now to clear her doubts."
Thomas then exited the office to make a few calls, while Andrew walked down the hall through the house into Ashley's room. Ashley is Andrew's youngest child being the youngest of a pair of twins, well Michael is younger but she is the youngest that Andrew actually acknowledges. She, like her family has blonde hair and cool steel blue eyes. She's beautiful beyond reproach being only six months older than Michael.
Knock! Knock!
"Ashley, we need to talk." Said a somber Andrew.
"Yes father, come in."
As Andrew walked in, he noticed that Ashley seemed more cold than usual. She was meditating to build and expand her mana pool with her eyes closed. Normally she'd be excited to see him since he is normally so busy with work, but now she stayed seated with her eyes closed.
"I know you saw the message meant for Thomas, so tell me what you think and how do you feel." Said Andrew as he sat on her bed. Her room was pink as you'd expect from a twelve year old girl but the size was a bit massive.
"You cheated on my mother and have an illegitimate child, he looks just like you father." Said Ashley with her eyes still closed.
"Yes, she knew of the situation years ago but we never found or confirmed his whereabouts. Your mother and I have worked through this years ago, so I ask that you not make it a recent matter." Andrew gave a stern look to Ashley letting her know that this was a demand.
" I have no issue, but I want to ask if my brothers know?"
"Only me and your mother, as well as your grandfather."
"Then what will you do when you find him?" Ashley finally opened her eyes when she asked this question.
"We can't afford a scandal like this, especially since his mother's identity is special. He'll disappear from public eye and all will be well." Said Andrew who looked down as he spoke. Lying to his daughter never sat well with him.
"You'll kill him to protect yourself from future headaches, no matter how big or small they may be."
"Yes, it'll be better if things like this stay in the dark. You may not understand this but if you fight for the right to heir then you'll understand that choices like this happen all the time." Andrew got up and walked towards the door. He didn't want to face his daughter after she discovered that he was planning on killing her sibling.
(Father is more dangerous than I thought. If he will kill this bastard then we are all just expendable. I need to fight to be the heir, otherwise he might sell me off.) These we're Ashley's thoughts before she fell back into meditating.
