Michael and Uriel stepped through the portal to discover a large green open plain filled teenagers and young adults. The world was lit up with a sun that was sitting high in the sky. Everyone wore a wide arrangement of clothes, some wore casual tee shirts and jeans while other wore expensive armor and suits. Around one hundred yards in front of the gathered awakeners was a large forest that seemed never ending.
"So, what's your plan human?"
"We will enter the forest and look for the caucuses of awakeners and monsters. I have no fighting power or equipment, but this plan will give me both. Any problems miss angel? Asked Michael who impatiently started walking towards the forest.
"No, but I do not like stalking around being bottom feeders and scavengers like some sort of hyenas." Uriel was wearing a disguised look upon her face currently.
"I will pursue strength at the cost needed to do so, if that's an issue then maybe I can request another angel as my guide." Said Michael with a sly smile.
"As if any of my siblings could be bothered to do a menial task such as this." Pouted Uriel
Michael remained quiet and began to active his eyes to see if he could spot any dead awakeners or beast along the way.
After three hours, they finally find two dead awakeners and one injured person leaning against a tree staring at a black wolf. The awakener who is a fire type has a ferocious look on his face as he throws a fire ball at the incoming wolf. The wolf dashes to the left before sprinting even faster towards its prey. Right when the wolf opens its maw to bite down, the awakener coats his fist with flames and punches dead into the center of the wolf's mouth.
"Awwwwuuuuuuuu!!!" The wolf lets out a gut wrenching scream before falling down taking a last breath.
Michael and Alicia are standing on top of a tree watching this unfold waiting for the moment to reap all of the rewards. Once the wolf goes do, they jump from the tree and get ready to take their reward.
"I feel that I can devour the stats of the three adventures quickly, but I'll need you to dig out the core from this wolf so we can leave before the other monster arrive. The scent of blood should've been blowing in the wind for awhile now." Stated Michael as he wasted no time to devour the two dead bodies of to the side.
"Who....hah....are.....you?" Asked the awakener who barely defeated the wolf at the cost of sacrificing his own arm.
"I'll put you out of your misery soon, just let me finish this quickly first." Stated Michael without even looking back as he began devouring one of the bodies.
15 minutes later, Michael is done with the young man's companions and he turns to him to finish him off.
"No hard feelings but this is necessary for me to grow and survive, plus living with one arm isn't the life you want to live. I've seen the struggles of strong men being crippled and having to endure, so go with peace."
Michael then grabs a knife from the young man's companion and slits his throat cleanly before he starts to devour him.
"I hope you're able to break through to F Rank after this, I hate being so damn pathetic and weak." Stated Uriel who watched Michael devour the teenager's life force.
Six minutes later, Michael opens his eyes and says to Uriel, "Let's get the high ground, I'm hoping that the monsters will fight it out over their bodies and we can then eat up the losers in the end."
As Michael and Uriel climb back up the large trees, Uriel looks back at the withered corpses intrigued about how they turned into dried up mummies after being devoured. Once up the tree she couldn't help but ask.
"Have you broken through to E Rank yet, and did you take any good talents?"
"Yes, the fire user helped me to breakthrough but I was surprised there wasn't an overwhelming feeling or phenomenon. I also, only took his fire element affinity, it was C grade so I was able to upgrade mine from that."
Stated Michael who was now concentrating on his gains.
"Of course there wasn't a huge commotion, you have the Ancient God physique, you won't have any bottle necks until you reach B Rank. Going from Mortal Rank to E Rank was supposed to be as simple as breathing. But I'm happy you upgraded your affinity, the fire element could be very useful for us." Stated Uriel
"For some reason I'm not feeling hungry, so since that's the case we will wait for the show and hope for the best in the meantime, I'll absorb the wolf's core." Michael was staring at the bodies hoping to witness a battle between strong monsters soon.
"Your physique also helps you to sustain by feeding on mana or energy, even I'm just breathing in the mana to take care of my hunger. It's not the same as eating meat but we won't have to worry about something so pesky as dying from starvation.
As night fell, hours later they finally saw groups of monsters. Michael originally was beginning to doubt if any other monsters were in this part of the forest but it seems that they just feel more comfortable moving at night.
"And now the show begins Uriel." Stated Michael as he watches while secretly saying status in his head.
