In the HR office…
The cellphone sitting on the desk in front of the man began to ring… he reached out and answered the cell phone silently. After listening to the other end of the call he spoke, "Good let me know if there are any energy fluctuations detected by the energy shifter." After saying that he immediately hung up the phone.
The ability shifter was extremely advanced technology as it almost acted like gravity except instead of being a mass that pulls anything within a specific area, it shifted the energy by creating a pulling force that drew in any abnormal fluctuations in the energy of the world effectively cancelling out abilities.
These machines had to be tuned to the energy frequency of whatever location they were at to work properly, but they were extremely effective at canceling energy as long as the output of energy didn't exceed the specific 'Energy Shifter's' capacity.

[The host connection with his home planet has been intercepted would the host like me to forcibly reactivate the connection?] The voice of the system immediately sounded in Van's mind.
'Sh&* this didn't happen last time I thought they'd only do this if they had reason to suspect something..' Van thought as in the previous timeline he went for a run but he never received any notification from the system about not having a connection with his home planet.
'I have to let Erika and Max know that things just got significantly harder.' He thought as he rushed out of his room to Erika's room since it was closer than Max's.
He walked briskly through the hallway, his walking pace was swift enough to beat the average person jogging. He quickly arrived at Erika's room to share with her how they activated the power cancelling technology.
He knocked on the door that was swiftly answered, Erika answered the door with a comfortable t-shirt that was too big. If max was paying attention he would have noticed she actually looked pretty attractive dressed so casually. However, what he was here to talk about was extremely urgent so he didn't have time to care or pay attention to her appearance.
"Erika they've activated the machine I came to let you know so you don't start practicing control over your ability, I don't know what the technology is capable of but I don't want something bad to happen too soon, I have to go tell max before he starts attempting to practice his ability." He told her in a hurried tone before he turned and left the confused Erika alone at the door to process everything he just told her.
While he was walking away he said in a voice that wasn't too loud or too quiet, "Meet me and Max in the cafeteria for dinner." And with that he sped off down the hallway looking like an Olympic power walker.
A couple of minutes passed before he arrived at Max's door when he arrived he knocked on the door and it was answered immediately almost as if he was waiting at the door to be opened.
"They've turned on the power canceling machine right?" Max said as he opened the door.
"How did you know Van asked?" As he was about to give the spill to Max like he did Erika but was shocked to hear he already knew.
"I was just about to practice effecting and controlling the space around me when I felt a shift in its energy. It was like there was an additional force added which made me hesitant to practice but seeing you here so soon after it happened just confirmed it." Max replied as he had thought thoroughly about the situation in the past few minutes.
"So what should we do?" Van asked as they now had to come up with a different plan and hope things didn't go straight to hell when they attempted their escape.
