There once was a girl named Scheherazade.

She was so breathtakingly beautiful that no one could hold a candle to her.

She lived in the country of a wicked king. He would marry one girl every day and have them executed the next day.

Scherezade was clever. She devised a plan to save countless innocent girls from this cruel practice

She presented herself to be married to the cruel king. The king could not refuse after seeing her beauty. Scherezade's parents vehemently opposed this wedding reminding her of the Execution. She asked them not to be worried and to send her sister Dinazade to her room when called. for she had a plan. When the night got ripe she asked the king if she could see her sister. The king could not refuse.

When Dinazade came Scheherezade started telling her a tale. The king also listened eagerly for he too was fond of stories.

The tale was so long that it did not end after the entire night. Eager to hear more the king postponed the execution of his wife for one day.

Scherezade again called Dina into her room that night and started her tale from where she had left it. It did not finish that night either. The king again postponed his wife's execution planned for the next day. This went on for one 1001 nights. By that time the king had fallen so much in love with his wife that he became a changed man. He spent the rest of his life happily with his beloved queen.

My mom read this story when she was a teenager. She loved the story so much that almost a decade later when I was born My mom named me Scheherazade.

The name did Me justice as I was told by her for I turned out to be just as beautiful as the queen from the story.

I had a slightly tanned complexion with flawless smooth skin. My nose was little and straight. My lips were full and pink, my eyes a very unique dark shade of violet surrounded by a long and thick fringe of black lashes. My hair was midnight black, slightly curly and so long that it reached my thighs. I had just turned 18

I, Scherezade was born to a pair of loving parents. I had no siblings to share my childhood with.

I was brought up in the same city I was born in. All of My education was done in the same place. I was currently in high school.

My senior year had already started a week ago when suddenly one day my life of perfect bliss came to an end when My dad came home and announced some very upsetting news. Upsetting for me at least.

I had gotten home from school and was helping My mom cook a lasagne. My dad was unusually quiet as he ate which was very odd. He loved lasagne.

After finishing the meal as I was helping My mom load the dishwasher My dad told Us that he had been relocated from his job to a little town and that We will all have to move.

"wow are you serious dad" I whined

"look pumpkin I don't like it either but it's a very good working opportunity and it comes with a huge promotion, a very attractive salary package and many other benefits. I get to head the whole office there"

My mom looked deep in thought. I know she won't let dad go alone.

My dad was a sales manager for a very reputable pharmaceutical company.

"But dad it's my final year in high school. Can't I crash at one of my friends' homes? I " I said.

" sweetie I want you to go with us. Otherwise, Your mom and I will be alone there." He said sadly

"dad it's difficult to move in high school. I will be leaving for college next year anyway" I said.

"It's exactly why I want to keep you with us for another year. You are my only daughter. Our only child. "

My mom joined the conversation and gave her verdict.

I wanted to argue some more but realized they were not going to give in no matter what.

So I just went to her room gloomily

The next day I broke the news to My friends

"You are kidding. You are moving! like now. Our senior year just started "my friend Maddie Said

"You don't have to leave. You can just crash at my place. I know my parents won't mind. They are usually travelling most of the time anyway so they are hardly ever home "piped up Rachel, another one of My friends

" I already asked them about it. But it's just that my mom and dad want me to go with them, it's our last year together before I leave for college" she replied sadly

"That sucks sher. Said Rachel gloomily

"When do you move "asked Maddie

"In one week. " I said

"Oh crap that's so soon" mopped Maddie

They all looked so depressed that I started feeling guilty.

"Hey, maybe we will all go to college together. Won't be so bad right? And I will face time you guys as much as I can. "I tried.

" yeah but still you won't be here" replied Rachel sadly.

" I know and I hate it but nothing can be done about it. So let's all spend some quality time together. I need to shop for some clothes. I don't know how little the town is. What if there are no decent stores there??" I said to them.

They both agreed to that. I spent the rest of my time there mostly in the company of my two friends.
