Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

On the last day before starting my new school, I mostly spent my time organizing my clothes And gathering my school things.

The next morning I woke up to the wonderful smell of frying eggs. I got up and went to the bathroom.

I then got dressed in my favourite knee-length off-white dress I also contemplated putting My hair in a bun but then she decided on an elaborate fishtail. It took Me some time as my hair was quite long.

Lastly, I applied a little makeup

I went down to see my mom cooking scrambled eggs and toast.

I got Myself some of both and had a good hearty breakfast.

I then collected My bag and told my mom goodbye. She wished me luck.

I could use some luck I thought as I made my way towards the school in My parent's car. Thankfully My dad had an office car that came as the benefit of his new position so I could use this one for the time being.

I parked my car near the administration building. It was a little far away from the main school building

I made my way inside. A woman was sitting at the reception.

She guided Me to go inside the office for My new schedule and locker number.

The man who gave Me these hardly glanced up at me and just handed Me the paper with my schedule and a school map along with my new locker number.

" That's welcoming," I thought sarcastically

I made my way toward the main school building. Thankfully it was a sunny day.

I found my locker on the ground floor easily.

My first class was English. I saw in my schedule that it was on second-floor room 217

It Took Me a little time to find. It was not made easy by the fact that other kids stared at me a lot. Many whispered among themselves. But no one approached me directly thank heavens

I entered my classroom and went to sit at the empty seat at the back of the room.

"Heeeyyy not there. Sit with me " I heard a voice call out to me excitedly.

I turned around and saw to my huge relief that I and Zarah shared this class.

"Thank God we have at least one class together," I said to Zarah as I approached her.

"I was getting a little worried. Looks like this place doesn't get someone new Frequently" I told sitting beside her.

"nope," Zarah said popping the P

"You are the latest ogling material. Having a face like yours does not help you blend in either. You are going to give the cheerleaders a lot to be insecure about"

She told me smiling.

I grimaced.

The class filled out slowly. I noticed most of the seats around me were taken by guys.

I also saw a face or two glare at me as well. The face or two belonged to other girls.

I sighed. Zarah squeezed my hand comfortingly.

"Don't worry. Things will settle down in two-three weeks. Just hang out with me and my friends. We will look after you " she told me

I smiled at her. Her presence was a huge relief for me.

Thankfully our teacher came into the classroom and started the roll call for attendance

She paused at My name. Made me come over in front of the class and introduce myself.

I got up and went to the front of the class and gave a brief introduction about Myself and the reason why I moved there.

My teacher a plum little pleasant-looking woman smiled and told me "welcome to the school". And motioned for me to sit back. I went back to my seat feeling the stare of almost everyone on me.

Thank God I did not trip" I thought. I wasn't clumsy but the way people were staring was making me nervous.

As I sat down on My seat I saw that the three guys sitting around me sniffed the air.

Weirdos" I thought. I know that I did not smell bad. I had a bath only last night.

Zarah looked unconcerned about it so decided not to bring it up. Maybe I misunderstood. Maybe they were merely having runny noses because of some allergies I thought.

Our teacher was enthusiastic And very bubbly. She gave us the assignment of reading a bunch of books. I saw to My delight that they included some of my favourite classics like great expectations and Jane Eyre. I have already read most of them but I would still enjoy reading them again.

When the class finished up I and Zarah made Our way toward the lockers. Our next class was not together so We decided to meet up at Our lockers after class to go for lunch together.

I hated algebra with a passion. I never failed at it but I didn't like studying algebra either.

I endured the next hour by making myself take active notes or else I know I might fall asleep.

Thankfully my teacher was a reasonable man and did not make me stand in front of the class to introduce myself. He also seemed to be a pretty good teacher and I would have fallen asleep if it wasn't for him explaining all the questions with little jokes inserted here and there.

When the bell rang for lunch I made my way toward the locker. I saw Zarah and waved
