The inside of the store was even bigger than it looked from the outside. It certainly wasn't Walmart but it came quite close.
As I made my way into the store picking up things here and there I saw that most of the people there were ogling me. A few gave me friendly smiles but most of them just stared. I returned smiles to the ones that were welcoming. After picking out all the things we needed including fresh vegetables and fruits I made my way toward the counter. The girl in charge of the counter was a teenager like Me. I guessed her to be of the same age as mine.
She smiled brightly at me. She had flaming red hair, brown eyes and a small cute button nose spattered with freckles and she looked to be about 5 3 in height. She was pretty in a petite way.
"Hi. I am Zarah. Are you the new girl that moved into the grey House along the woods??"
She asked. She sounded both excited and a little awed.
"yep, that's me. I am Scheherazade "I replied smiling at her enthusiasm.
"Scheherazade that's such a unique name. What does it mean"
" well, it's a long story. my mum is a huge fan of the tale of 1001 Arabian nights. She named me after the Princes from that book. You can call me Sher for short"
I saw her look at my hair in wonder. I remembered that I had not put my hair in a bun instead it hung down my back in a thick glorious braid.
Well, people always stared at My hair a lot.
"Sher I hope you are starting our school
what year you will be in"
"Yeah, I will start tomorrow. I'll be starting my senior year here"
"yeyyyyyyyyyy you will be in my year. That's perfect. You have to sit with me and my friends at lunch. I cannot wait for you to meet everyone"
She said excitedly with a clap.
"Thank God I'll know someone tomorrow. It sucks to be a new girl. That too after the term has already started. I was thinking I would never make any friends here" I told her.
"oh don't worry you will fit right in. And with a face like yours won't be having trouble making friends trust me." She said smiling.
"see you tomorrow then. bye "I said waving.
"bye," she also replied waving back.
