Adam POV
I wasn’t sure how Ian had found out, but my attention went straight to Ella. The color had washed away from her face as she tried to steady herself. Even with the mask on, her eyes were wide as they glossed over in the dim candlelight.
I could hear the other wolves muttering to themselves.
“That’s who she is?”
“Oh, I heard about her.”
“I wonder why Adam kept her here.”
The faint voices were hard to pinpoint, but if I could hear them, I knew Ella could too.
I reached out for Ella’s hand, but when I finally grabbed it, her strength from before was no longer there. The hand moved freely, much like a doll’s hand that was being moved by a child.
“Funny story after I left your house the last time. I ended up running into an investigator. He had a picture and was asking me if I had seen a girl named Ella.” Ian now had the crowd’s full attention. There was no sweeping what he said under the proverbial rug.
