Ella POV
Adam let out a growl that caused the porch floor to rumble beneath us. I knew he was still injured from the fight the day before. He didn’t show it, though. He held a pose that showed just how large he was.
Walter took a few steps closer to the porch as the hair on Adam’s back raised. Walter was smaller for a male wolf, but he had years of professional training as part of my father’s tutelage. For Walter, money could buy everything he naturally lacked in.
Adam never told me about the training he received in combat knowledge, but I hoped it was just as extensive as the program I knew Walter had been privy to. My father spared no expense if the means justified the end.
Adam made his way down the steps. I could see a hint of a limp in his gait from his injured shoulder, but he hid it well. If Walter noticed, he would certainly exploit that weakness of Adam’s to his advantage.
