Lucas was falling hard and as much as he protested to loving Audrey, he finally succumbed to the sweet feeling he would shake his head at because he couldn't do anything about how deep he fell for her. He wasn't sure exactly when he fell for her, but the one thing he was sure of was that he was deep in love.
It was everything about her, the way she walked, her choice of clothing, her natural scent, the way she talked, her reaction when she was surprised, the sound of her laughter, the flow of her hair, her slender fingers, her hip dips, her height, her elegant stance, the way she ate without a care in the world and pretty much everything that defined her.
He sat in earnest, "why have you been avoiding me?", Lucas asked, wanting her honest answer, he loved her too much to force her into anything she didn't want. He leaned forward in his seat, his blue orbs piercing into her eyeballs, allowing him to access her feelings.
Audrey on the other hand shrank in her seat with the intent look piercing her being, she hugged the side of her seat, avoiding eye contact, she just couldn't keep up with the burning gaze. " I was I was not avoiding you!", Audrey said, refusing to give out her carefully formulated plan which eventually flopped. "But you didn't answer my texts, nor did you pick my calls and everytime I dropped by, you weren't there!".
Audrey kept mute hearing the tone of his voice. It sounded gentle, gentle as in the opposite of the usual bored tone he used in addressing the employees. " Audrey didn't say anything because she felt guilty and didn't want to make matters worse. Lucas, who noticed she hadn't said anything till she refuted, reached out to hold her hand.
The jolt and warmth from the spark when their skin touched caused butterflies to fly happily in both their stomachs. He brought his chair closer, holding her hand even tighter, the pad of his thumb making soothing circles on Audrey's hands, "you can tell me anything!", Lucas said, bending his head to check her facial expression.
She couldn't deny that she liked him a lot, and neither could she deny that she didn't feel the electricity when their hands touched. She felt the words he was trying to convey, he was trying to get her to talk to him. The problem wasn't if she felt the same way, the problem however was due to her shy nature.
" Hey, wait up, you can't go in!", Criaig said trying to stop Martin from entering the office, "Hey, it can't wait, I'll Just tell him and be out!"martin said, opening the door. " No, no, no, ahhhh don't go in!!", Craig said as Martin entered. "Hey bro, mom said to come home…!", Martim drawled with a shocked expression on his face.
There they were, his brother and the girl he liked, holding hands, 'ahh, no wonder Craig said I shouldn't go in, Martin thought as he smiled and went back through the door. " Told you!", Craig said as Martin came out the door. "You have no idea what's going on behind that door, do you?", Martin said, ruffling his feathers. Craig paused and looked up at Martin, then the door he couldn't peep through and then Martin who was already walking away, he stood up and ran after Martin, his curiousity getting the best of him.
Inside the room however was a different scene, " how about we take this some other place!", he said before he wore his blazer, "wait, where are we going!?", Audrey asked as Lucas stood to his full domineering height. " Let's go get breakfast!", he said stretching his hands out which Audrey took without hesitation. The fact that Audrey became instantly hungry after his suggestion was hilarious.
The thought that Audrey took his hands when he stretched it out made him feel very happy. They walked towards Lucas's private elevator, Audrey still relishing the warmth from their connected hands and didn't want to let go. Not that Lucas wanted to let her go, the corner of his lips curled upwards that she didn't let go of their interlinked arms.
When they got to the elevator, their arms still linked, Audrey seemed to recollect herself when the elevator dinged, out of reflex, she tried to remove her palms from that of Lucas. The man in question was having none of that, he grabbed her hand tightly, but not enough to damage her skin. He dressed his other hand to the small of her back and led her inside the elevator.
Audrey took deep breaths to calm herself when Lucas came to stand in front of her, arranging her hair and pushing the errant strands behind her ear to see the beautifully sculpted face, he asked, "can I hug you?". Audrey's brain and heart were in sync after hearing the deep baritone voice of the one man she had a huge crush on.
She liked the fact that he asked for her permission before engaging any physical contact, if it was even possible, Audrey fell harder, she blushed before she nodded. Lucas didn't waste time before wrapping his arms around her, bringing her upper body closer to his chest as he inhaled the scent of her shampoo.
Lucas was surprised when he felt Audrey's hand snake around his waist, his ears turning a light shade of red at the effect she had on him. The elevator dinged open and Audrey was unwilling to let go much to Lucas's liking. After a few seconds, she recollected herself and pulled from the embrace, folding her hands behind her and looking away shyly.
What Lucas did next stunned her, he pulled her into another hug before pecking her cheeks. He smiled at her flushed face before holding hands and leaving the elevator, " Let's go get breakfast!", he said. Audrey who was being pulled along smiled as she giggled at their private time in the elevator.
Authoress: oh innocent Audrey, she had no idea that was nothing like the private time she and Lucas were going to have.
