Chapter 61 - Parting

Audrey leaned back on her chair, still smiling before her phone rang. She didn't even need to check her phone to know who was calling, who else called her at that time of the day?.

"Hello!", Audrey said, smiling as she heard the shuffling from Lucas's side. " Hey, you ready for dinner?", Lucas asked, Unlocking the car, waiting for Audrey's reply. "Yeah, yeah, I'm ready, I'll be down in a minute!", " okay then, I'm still at the basement car park!", Lucas said starting the engines.

"Alright then!", Audrey said, cutting the call. Turning off all the electronics in her cubicle, she went out to see other staff on the investments floor packing up, as they were also heading home. She took the elevator down to the ground floor, since she used one of the common elevators, she had to leave through the main entrance before going to the basement park.

'Beautiful as always!', Lucas said identifying the figure approaching his car as Audrey. " Good evening!", Audrey said with a blush, avoiding meeting his eyes, " Evening beautiful, you ready?", Lucas asked stunning Audrey. "Beautiful?", she asked, finally meeting his eye, she wanted to make sure he knew what he was saying exactly.

" Yes, beautiful..!", Lucas paused, his facial expression taking a complete turn around, he continued, "or don't you like pet names?!", he asked just to make sure Audrey was comfortable with whatever he was calling her. " I I do like pet names!", she admitted tucking her hair behind her ear.

Lucas stretched his hand towards her, his palms facing upwards, it was a gesture for her to hold on to his hand as he drove. Audrey took his hand without hesitation, even if she felt like she was about to explode with the number of butterflies flying in her stomach, she still liked the gesture.

"Thank you!", she suddenly said, holding Lucas's hand even tighter, " did you see it?", Lucas asked as he already knew what Audrey was talking about. "Yeah, thank you!", Audrey said, Lucas took a deep breath before he finally said, " I read your interview when you first came to the company…!", he trailed, Audrey looking at him as she had no idea where he was taking the conversation to.

"The bills…!", Lucas trailed, saying it as gently as he could because he didn't want to offend her. " is that why you paid me to pretend?", "yeah, but I would have paid you regardless, I just don't want you to worry!".

" Thank you!", Audrey said, planting a kiss on his cheek. Lucas who had already reserved something special to celebrate their first official date as a real couple surprised Audrey with the lavish decorations he prepared for her.

He dropped her home soon after their date because Audrey insisted she wouldn't take advantage of dating the CEO. Audrey was unaware of the shocking news she was going to receive when she entered the house.

"I'll get it!", Lucas said coming down from the driver's seat to get Audrey's door, Audrey thought he was cute. " Good night!", Lucas said as he helped Audrey out of the car. "Good night!", Audrey replied still holding his hands and looking into his eyes.

They just stood there looking into the other's eyes, it was like their souls were connecting just looking at each other. " I should probably go!", Audrey said snapping out of the trance like state both of them were engulfed in. "Yeah, yeah, I should be on my way too!", Lucas said scratching his eyebrows.

" Can I have a hug?", he asked before Audrey nodded. She wrapped her hands around his neck while Lucas wrapped his hands around her small waist as they embraced each other.

Lucas withdrew from the hug, with the sole aim of stealing a kiss for that night, Audrey who was still in a trance from feeling his strong shoulders and breathing in his manly scent was surprised to feel Lucas's lips on hers.

It wasn't like the deep kiss they had earlier that day, it was just a peck on the lips, but it was enough to have Audrey feeling like she was flying. "I'll call you!", Lucas whispered on her lips before he escorted her to the main door. " I'll get going now!", Lucas said before Audrey nodded, an evident blush on her cheeks as Prisca opened the door.

Lucas left soon after seeing that Audrey had gone inside, he headed home to know what exactly Emily wanted. Audrey touched her lips, giggling that she went on a beautiful date with Lucas and he even kissed her.

Meeting Prisca's questioning look, Audrey said, "we are officially dating now!", "Really?", Prisca asked, a huge smile on her face. " Yes prisca, I need to go to my room, I'm really tired!", Audrey said, suddenly reminding Prisca of the important announceent she had to break to Audrey.

"Hey, hey, wait, there is something you need to know!", Prisca aid pulling Audrey by the hand towards the living room. " What's that?", Audrey asked sitting on her favourite couch, the one she deemed most comfortable.

"It's about my dad!", Prisca said, sitting up, Audrey immediately asked fearing the worst, " is he okay, is he fine, his us he doing, he's vetting better right?", Audrey said throwing questions after questions to Prisca who looked tense.

"No, no, he's fine and he's okay. He's better and he is completely cured…!", Prisca trailed, allowing her words to sink in. " That means if he is cured, he's going to be discharged soon!", Audrey said before her mood turned really sad.

"And I have to move out!", Audrey realized, bending her head, " I'm really sorry!", Prisca said wrapping Audrey in a hug."its really fine Prisca, I'll go look for an apartment!", Audrey said understanding that the family would need their time alone, especially not after being together after several months.

"But…!", Audrey trailed, bending to take off her heels, " but what?", Prisca asked, "but you have to follow me when I'm searching for apartments!", she said, remembering the horrible experience She had the last time she went apartment hunting.
