Chereads / I Shall Become The Strongest Dragoness! / Chapter 29 - [The Dragonfolk Empire.]

Chapter 29 - [The Dragonfolk Empire.]

Somewhere in a dark green forest, a dragon and a kobold are walking together while talking about their next destination.

"Are we really not that far away?"

Emilia asked curiously, she had been quite anxious to meet other people, the wolf tribe was a big scandral and by the looks of their inhabitants, they thought of her of nothing more than a monster.

"Yup! Also as i said before, the Dragonfolk are really religious, in their holy book dragons are akin to gods in other religion, so they should treat you nicely."

Dawn said while looking around for any unlucky animal she could eat, she had enhanced her senses with aura and was on the lookout for anything.

"Oh. So you could play the role of an emissary of sorts?"

"Not really, they really hate kobolds. At most they will tolerate me since i am an aura practicioner and one of the few Full Aura known."

"But you don't look like a kobold anymore?"

"They will know i am one, well, atleast the aura practicioners will due to my aura."

"Oh, so each species have an unique aura?"

"Yeah, it becomes more apparent the more you advance."

As any dragon, Emilia curiosity was huge and she kept on asking about aura and so on as they walked through the forest while Dawn was still on the look out for dinner.

After a few more minutes of walking through the dense forest, Dawn gave up on searching any prey as luck wasn't on her side today, the sun was high on the sky by now, the walk was peacefull as every animal seems to be avoiding them because of Emilia natural sharp predator aura. Though Dawn doesn't seem bothered by it.

"..So Dawn, how do you plan to find the Light Lilly?"

"Dunno, walking around probably. I don't have much to work with besides some folktale and very ancient fairy tale books."

"So you are chasing a myth that might not exist, huh?"

"Yeah. I hope it does exist because if it doesn't then i would have to find another way to progress and in those two hundred years i had no idea."

"Seems like you lack creativity then.. Ooh!"

Emilia suddenly had a grin on her face as she thought of something mischiveous as she saw something ahead.

Emilia pointed at a glowing lilly with her front paw and said, "Hey Dawn! Look a Light Lilly!"

"Haha. Really funny."

Dawn scoffed at Emilia before taking a quick glance at where Emilia pointed, there actually was a lilly emiting blue light!

"..On the good side of things, we are close. That is an Aura Lilly wich are artificially made, in other worlds we are just about a few kilometers away from the Dragonfolk Empire."

"Great! But why would they artificially make a flower?"

"Superstition. Some believe it brings good luck while others just think it looks nice."

As Dawn said that, she walked towards the Aura Lilly and crouched to try to pluck it out, but it seemed to be deep rooted into the ground. She tried to pull it again but it didn't bulge, Emilia looked at her and burst out into laugher, this whole scene just looked hilarious to her, someone who could destroy a whole city actually had problems at picking flowers!

"Pfhahaha, need a paw Dawn?"

"Shut up."

Dawn frowned before enhancing her body with a bit of aura and easily pulled it out from the ground but she didn't expect what came together with it.

A huge bunny that was about 79 centimeters tall with an Aura Lilly on the head!

"Eh?!"

Dawn and Emilia were surprised by the big that bunny, but it took their shock as an opportunity! In the very next instance Dawn received a kick in the guts by the bunny then it took the chance to run away while Dawn felt down on her knees.

"U-ugh-"

"Did you just got beaten up by a bunny? Hilarious."

Dawn coughed a bit before she slowly recomposed herself.

"I was only using 0.2% of my enhancing capacity, plus are you letting dinner run away?!"

"0.2%, yeah sure- IT'S RUNNING AWAY!"

Emilia looked ahead and locked onto the bunny, but instead of stopping time and catch it she decided to try a new trick, she smiled as the earth on the ground slowly started to float and shape shift into a spike that Emilia throwed forward!

Sadly, the bunny had good senses and ducked down to dodge it.

"Nice aim bucko."

Emilia frowned at Dawn, 'it wasn't my fault! I would've hit it in the head if it didn't dodge!' Was what she wanted to say but instead she decided to focus on the important stuff, her meal!

At one moment she was at the side of Dawn, the next she was infront of the bunny wich had run a 70 meters away from them by now.

The bunny looked scared at the sudden apparence of Emilia and bumped into her and suddenly, everything went dark. Emilia cut clean the bunny head and brought the corpse back to Dawn like how a cat carry back dead mice to it's owner, 'You should have just done this from the start Emi. Now you look like an imbecile.'

Ignoring Chronos harsh words, Emilia happily walked back to Dawn.

"Took you long enought."

"Shush, if it wasn't for me you wouldn't have caught such delicious meat!"

"Sure, sure.."

Dawn sighed at Emilia cockyness but she couldn't say that she didn't like it, she actually found it quite enjoyable. Dawn took out a few rocks from her magic bag and started to put them in a circle big enought to fit the bunny, "Get me some logs would you?" Dawn asked to Emilia as she was just dozing off into her own world fighting off an evil time dragon, Emilia quickly nodded and cut down the thickest tree she could find! After rolling the tree back to Dawn together with cutting a few more tree's that got in the way, Dawn had a 'Why?' face as she watched Emilia do some deforestation, 'She could've just cut the tree into smaller bits and bring them one by one.' She sighed once again, 'Chrono isn't the brightest sometimes.' Dawn quickly drawed out her sword and enhanced it with the metal element, cutting the wood cleanly into smaller parts she then took out another small stone from her magic bag and then broke it above one of the cut wood, a sizzling sound could be heard as the wood dried instantly, Dawn grabbed the cut wood and put into the fire place and repeated the process to dry the wood again by grabbing more odd stones, 5 minutes later Dawn was done with her short work and Emilia was drooling over the dead bunny.

"Chrono, bad! No eating before i cook it!"

"I wasn't-"

"Bad dragon!"

Dawn looked deep into Emilia draconic eyes, with a single glance she knew what Emilia was going to do. Emilia sadly walked away while mumbling something about stopping treating her like a dog.

Dawn then looked back at the bonfire and started to set the things to roast up their well deserved dinner and..

...

In the Dragonfolk Empire, at the center of all the houses and contstruction there was a palace, inside that palace there were dragonfolks going to one side to another, some were excited while others estressed, some were carrying artifacts while others were carrying stacks of paper. The palace itself was luxurious with statues of many dragons at the entrance/exit, some of the pillars could also be seen as tales, each sculpture telling a story.

At some point all dragonfolk stopped and kneeled, the emperor has appeard.

"What a headache, are any of you absolutely sure that the mana readings have spiked recently?"

"Yes, your majesty."

"And are you sure that this time isn't those aura warriors aren't messing with the origin again?"

"I am absolutely sure as the guardian did not report anything strange, your majesty."

"Ahh, for dragons sake, just call me by my name!"

This was Ellis, emperor at age of 160 and also an aura practicioner at Aura Strenghtening stage, his father had passed 10 years ago and now, as the only capable child, he was ruling over the empire. He hated to be called by 'special names' as he didn't think much out of it, but other people surely did. Ellis was 193 centimeters tall, he wore light armor at all times and always carried an spear completely made out of iron, Ellis always carried an ancient artifact that was in the format of a bracelet in his left arm. Ellis normally has an uninteressed expression and rarely cares about anything, but in the past few weeks were the most stressfull weeks in his life.

"But your majest-"

"Shut up, if you aren't calling me by my name then don't speak."

"..."

"What a headache.. Could a dragon actually have descended? But why?"

Ellis slowly walked up to the living room, wich he transformed into an investigation room to find information a few weeks ago, once he arrived near the giant door of the investigation room two guards hurriedly opened the door for him, 'Tsk, i got arms too, you know?' Inside the investigation room there were many papers, books, artifacts and a single dragonfolk flying up and down, running here and there organizing the papers. Besides all of that, the thing that stand out the most on this room was the giant water globe with a huge spike of water coming out of it. Ellis walked inside slowly, his footsteps almost silent as he entered the room.

"Ah-"

Tump.

The Dragonfolk that was organizing everything as fast as it could was suddenly spooked out of her scales by the sudden arrive of the emperor, the tons of paper that she was carrying fell and scattered across the ground making a mess.

"Oh, hi Yu."

Ellis said casually while glancing at the mess Yu had made, he shook his head and moved on. A normal emperor would scold or even kick such incompetent flying lizard out of the palace but he didn't give a fuck about it, after all even though she is a little clumsy she is perfect for the job.. And perfect for him.

Ellis walked up to a place where most of the paper was located and started to quickly read them, "The huge mana spikes sure are abnormal, even the highest grade draconic artifact couldn't do such a thing." Ellis looked at his bracelet, "It is either a dragon or some otherworldly entity trying to mess up with the Mana Origin of this world." The Mana Origin is a portal that was made by the dragons in almost every habitable world, it shares the mana of the Supermassive Planets that the dragons live, although that mana is considerated a waste product by them who usually use cosmic mana, the purest form of mana, it is appreciated by the mortals since their worlds can't refine cosmic mana into a lighter and weaker mana that they can use. Although the Mana Origin is a portal to a supermassive planet, if anything that has a body weaker than the Body Strenghtening stage of the dragons tries to go through, they are shredded to pieces.

'A dragon or an otherwordly entity, both are pretty bad. One is a pridefull lizard that would burn me into a crisp if i said anything wrong, the other is a bloodthirsty thing that would want to destroy this world..'

While Ellis was analyzing the information they collected, Yu had finished collecting the papers when another dragonfolk flew down from the ceiling.

"Your majesty."

"Oh, military commander, right? Have you sent out a scout team yet?"

"Yes, your majesty, they should come back in a few hours."

"Cool."

Ellis gave out the most casual reply and started walking back at the entrance of the investigation room, Yu had an embarassed look on her face.

"Have you thought about my proposal?"

"I-i-.. Y-yes but i don't think someone like me cou-"

"Alright, answear me next week." Ellis sighed and left to the main hall, slowly walking back to the throne.

With that Ellis walked out back to the palace and every dragonfolk kneeled again, 'Gosh, i wish i could just be a communer and fly to my heart content instead of being stuck in this bird cage.'

'Most of the Empire is on high alert, some fanatics are saying the day of reckoning has begun or some shit. I thought of taking some power of the church and supress them a little so that stuff like this didn't happen but when basically 80% of the dragonfolk are religious people it wouldn't work.. Ugh what a headache. Even if a dragon truly descended, there must be a motive and that motive surely isn't to exterminate all life on this planet.' Ellis took a deep breath and continued walking back to his throne, or as he prefeers to call it, his bird cage, 'I can't wait to have a child and just throw all this burden at him and leave this country as quick as possible..'
