Deity's POV
Finally.
I plopped on the large sofa in exhaustion. Being in the presence of those people made me tensed and jumpy. The way the mayor's eyes intensely bored on me I can handle, but having the man next to me, whose name I don't even remember, stare at me as well throughout the entire meeting was too much.
'And he'll be living with you starting right now.'
Maybe he acted that way because I was the reason he's being thrown out of that place? Possibly.
"How did it go?" Flavia asked as she appeared hovering above me.
"They won't bother us again, ever, in the condition that I'll never set foot on their territory. They're sending someone to live with us to make sure I'll keep my end of the deal."
"For how long?" She frowned, not liking the idea.
"I don't know. Maybe after he made sure I know the bounderies of each land, or maybe he'll stay for long because from what I heard he's being exiled as well. He's not allowed to go back there anymore."
Flavia's hollowed eyes widened, "He?!"
I nodded. "Why?"
"What if they're exiling him because he's a criminal? What if they sent him here to end you so they can have the land for themselves?"
I chuckled at her nonsense theory, "In that case, I need you to watch him closely so we'll know what they're planning."
We both stopped when an impatient knock came from the main door. I went to open it and saw the same man we're talking about with his traveling bag. He wore the same gray shirt and faded jeans. This time I had the opportunity to appreciate his assets. His black hair's a little longer which he tied in a simple half-ponytail. His gray eyes stared back at me with an intensity I can't identify, getting darker every second. His pink lips we're thin and drawn in a straight line. Sculpted jaw and muscled built made him look tough and commanding. He's definitely a foot and a half taller than my five feet height.
"This gorgeous man can't be a criminal." Flavia whispered just behind me.
Well, Lucifer was once an angel before he became the devil.
I opened the door wide to allow him entrance and closed the door once he's inside. He stood in the middle of the living room, eyes searching for something, anything that he can find familiarity in. The way his commanding presence made the room adjust to accommodate him, as if he's someone everyone will bow to, didn't escape my observing eyes. My instinct kept screaming danger, yet my body somehow grew accustomed to being around him every second.
His gaze landed on the pile of books stacked beside my laptop and frowned, I felt the need to correct his perception of me being messy and unorganized but I remained silent. Finally, he turned a little to look at me, eyes memorizing every curve and angle of my figure. Goosebumps rose on my skin as I felt his roaming gaze becoming heated every second.
"I have to go down town, buy more groceries. My stocks will not last that long when there's two of us now." It felt weird saying that but it's the truth.
He just shrugged, turning his back to me once again. Quite disrespectful, may I say. Then he stopped, "Buy more meat."
Then he's gone. Fucking went upstairs like he owned the place.
What am I? His maid? The nerve of that guy! I growled in frustration, screaming all profanities inside my head.
"That was rude," Flavia grimaced.
"He is rude," I grumbled, grabbing my purse and keys. I slammed the door shut, making sure my new roomie heard the rattling of frames hung on the walls. "He thinks he can boss me around my own house? Well, I'll show him how I deal with pompous jerks."
I pulled out of the makeshift driveway - which is a flattened portion of the lawn filled with overgrown weeds - and drove straight to town. I reached the grocery store and found myself walking towards the vegetables section. Let's see how he'll react eating grass all throughout the whole week.
I thought I'll be free from those freaks in that community now, turns out that my territory adviser is worse.
"You look tensed. I trust the both of you spending time with each other didn't go well?"
Now I want to scream. My head whipped so fast towards the source of the blunt comment, surprising him as well. My expression must have shown how murderous I am that he automatically stepped back a little.
Parker Collins.
Right. Downtown's a neutral territory.
"He's an asshole." I voiced out.
"I know, but he's not always like that." Came his defensive words.
"Oh really? I'm thinking he always is, otherwise you wouldn't throw him out like a criminal being sentenced for his crimes." He flinched at that, good.
"The mayor has his reasons," he once again defended.
"A reason no one knows. A reason purely for his personal gain." I left him open mouthed in the aisle, paying for my things and leaving the shop without looking back.
"Deity!" Parker held my wrist, turning me around so I can face him. "I'm sorry this happened but I'm actually glad of you distancing yourself to the mayor and accepting his offer. It's not that I don't like you as a person but it's more on what you might go through if you remain in the mayor's presence. Although throwing out Lev Volturno with you is a risk as well, I can assure you he is harmless. He wouldn't intentionally hurt a woman."
Lev Volturno. Must remember the name.
I scoffed, Intentionally my ass. "Are you saying that the man might hurt me, but not intentionally? Thanks for the pep talk, I really appreciate it." Sarcasm dripped in my voice making him sigh in defeat.
"Lev is unpredictable, he's got a bad temper. However, that doesn't imply that he's a bad guy. He'll come around soon, just try to be patient with the man. It's actually best that he left the community, he'll suffer more in that place."
I just shrugged. I'll try to be patient, alright. Then my gaze fell on the bags of fresh vegetables and fruits.
After making sure I get my point inside his thick skull: accordance or antipathy.
