Deity's POV
I woke up to the sound of someone moving around the kitchen. Confused, I made my way downstairs. My frown deepening when I saw the door to Lev's room still closed.
"Who the hell is ransacking my kitchen?" I exaggerated when Flavia appeared beside me.
"Lev opened the door for her at dawn, then she immediately started cleaning the house and after that preparing breakfast." Flavia explained.
"A maid?" I asked, to which she just shrugged. I'm surprised she's not haunting the poor soul, knowing how territorial she is.
I proceeded down, seeing a middle aged woman happily moving about the kitchen while humming a tune. She seemed to be the same age as my mother, but I don't feel like guessing as to how old she already is.
I want to know what's happening.
"Excuse me?" I called, making her stop to look at me. "Good morning," I greeted. Her face brightened like she's about to say 'aww'.
"Good morning, honey." She smiled, "Come, I have milk and toast for you. Grab anything you want over that plate." She gestured towards a huge plate of beef steaks, sausages and ham. My jaw dropped, letting her guide me to sit and serve before me milk and butter toast. My stomach grumbled its approval.
"Why are there so many?" I asked, still surprised. "That's probably for ten people." This isn't breakfast. It's more like a feast.
She just chuckled, "Oh trust me, with Lev around you'll need all the energy you can get. Plus, we need you both healthy and strong. That's my job."
My face flushed at her former comment, what does she think we are doing? "I'm Deity. It's nice meeting you."
"The name's Victoria, and it's a pleasure to meet you, my dear."
I started eating and the burst of different flavors in my mouth truly felt heaven. Victoria told me how in the middle of the night, Lev asked her to work early morning and late afternoon every day. She's been keeping Lev's home before, so this work is not at all strange. They knew each other and Lev trusts her so I don't see any problem with that. As to why only early morning and late afternoon, Lev claimed we need 'quality time' for ourselves. This one of course, I denied.
Ambitious.
I asked her to join me as I ate before she leaves, and I'm glad she did. She told me stories about Lev's childhood. Mostly those he always get scolded for doing. The fact that him, Parker and Mayor Tyrone were childhood friends surprised me to the core. At present, they seemed to have so much bad blood between them. It's as if they can't stand each other, much less breathe the same air.
She already left before Lev woke up, and I remained in the kitchen washing the dishes we used. I felt stong arms encircled my waist and I felt soft kisses on my shoulders.
"Good morning," he murmured, turning me to face him. That lazy and sleepy smile looks good on him, though I refused to show appreciation.
I raised an eyebrow at him, "You did hire someone. What's next? You'll buy an extension of the land?" I joked, giving him a kiss on the tip of his nose.
He chuckled lowly, "Actually, I already did."
I rolled my eyes, "Of course you did, you billionaire show-off."
He laughed, lifting me off and depositing me on his lap as he sat down to eat. "Have you eaten?" I nodded, wrapping my arms around him. He seemed to like that, especially when the sparks frenzied. I'm getting addicted to this feeling as well.
"Why are there sparks?" I asked, caressing his broad shoulders. The sparks danced over my skin like a wildfire.
"Blame chemistry," he winked, before wolfing down his food making me roll my eyes again. Now I know why there are many foods. It's mainly to keep him healthy, not both of us.
I let him eat, occasionally taking a sip from his coffee. When he's finished I took his mug and plate, washing them in the sink. A lot of questions are lingering in my head and I want to ask him about these things. However, I don't want his mood to turn sour. He's rude when he's irritated.
"Parker and Mayor Tyrone seemed to know you well," I blurted out. Shit, way to go.
I noticed him going stiff but he still answered, "We were acquaintances. Something happened, that's all."
Okay, that's all I'm gonna get. "Why does Mayor Tyrone hate me so much? He even admitted he doesn't want to stay in the same room as me." I feel the same, anyway. It's a tie.
I heard him grumble something sounding like 'liar' before he just shrugged, "That man hates everyone."
"Like you?" I teased, making the corner of his lips lift a bit.
"Not at all. I managed to stay with you, he can't. See? I'm way better." He grinned slyly.
My brows shot upward, "Oh, maybe you meant to say I put up with your moodswings."
"If that's how you put it, fine by me." He stood, giving me a kiss on my forehead. "I'll be back before lunch, the men are waiting at the edge of the territory. We'll start putting a barrier between us and the Vultur lands. Stay safe, don't let anyone in." He finished with a warning.
I nodded, seeing him off like a good housewife until he disappeared in the trees.
"I'm starting to like that man around, Dei." Flavia whispered softly as she floated beside me.
"Me too," I whispered back.
A lot has happened in a span of one week. The tangles we are both in seemed to be eternal. It's like we are building our own home, um, hectares of home. He's not showing signs of leaving, even after knowing my past. It only made him desperate to separate us from the world, not from each other. His animosity towards those people from the Mayor's community, especially the Mayor, is still a mystery. And then the sparks, beautiful yet overwhelming.
Seriously, what is happening?
