Tyrone's POV
The minute she stepped inside the building, her presence and sweet smell assaulted my senses. It's wrong, but my body responded quite strongly to her scent.
Goddess, why?
I tried to keep a level head as she entered the room with Parker in tow, giving a polite smile to my Dad seated on the sofa before regarding me with animosity. That stare alone had my wolf whimpering. Fuck it. I stood, motioning for her to sit and followed suit. I was about to speak when the door opened and the slender build of a sophisticated brunette hovered in the doorway.
Nerissa.
"If you don't mind Miss Holland, I invited Atty. Nerissa Quincy to make it more formal and in the benefit of everybody."
Not just that. I know that with Nerissa around, any unnecessary thoughts I have concerning Deity Holland will be disregarded. I need the blatant reminder. A reminder that I am engaged. The reason why I want Deity Holland away.
She's my mate. I knew right when I laid my eyes on her and smelled her envigorating scent. My wolf did not like the idea of our mate being cast aside, but it's for the best. As an Alpha, I have to put my pack first before anything else. Before myself and before my mate. Nerissa is the perfect Luna, while Deity is a mere human. A liability, may I add. I decided to stick with my plan of choosing my own Luna than give Deity a reason to doubt her reality. It's better this way.
Deity nodded and Nerissa smiled with satisfaction, sitting beside me, marking her property. She knows about Deity, that's why she formulated a plan immediately and I never doubted her capability.
"I invited someone as well, because he will be a big help in finding consensus in the matter." Nerissa motioned for Parker to open the door and my breathing hitched. The man might look unthreatening as he strode across the room but my wolf growled loudly in my head. He recognized him, and he doesn't like him around us, around our mate.
Former Alpha Lev Volturno.
I saw my father shaking his head in amusement as he looked our way. "Son, I really hope you know what you're doing."
His voice inside my head wasn't meant to be a warning but my wolf felt threatened. Nevertheless, I ignored it. When Lev Volturno sat beside Deity, their arms brushed and she was startled. Lev spared her a burning stare before finally tearing his eyes away from her and stared straight at me.
"What do you want?" His baritone voice spoke, once again startling the woman beside her.
Nerissa took that opportunity to explain. To sum it up, we will not touch Deity's land and manor house as long as she cut ties with everything in our pack. Meaning, she must never set foot on our territory. However, we need someone who knows the land and territory bounderies - Lev Volturno. He will make sure she stays in her land, and in turn severing his ties to the pack as well.
There was silence after that, and I gladly gave them time to think. Finally, Deity nodded and spoke, "I agree to your terms and conditions but..." My wolf wailed as we waited for her to finish. My wolf's hoping she'll feel the need to fight for him. "...you also have to respect the territories. No one from your group or community shall enter mine, ever. I don't want your men barging in and knocking on my door every morning or every time you see fit when I'm not welcomed in any of your properties. Let's make it mutual, I have no plans coming back here and you must order your men not to come back to my place as well."
I was numbed with unimaginable pain as I registered the finality in her voice. I guess I deserved it, and I have no right to complain. It would be really unfair to her. It's best this way. My wolf was silent as well, curling into a ball as if hurt.
Nerissa smiled brilliantly, accepting the condition in our stead. Lev was just staring at my mate the whole time, and my wolf did not like it one bit. When he spoke, jaws clenching, everyone in the room unconsciously became attentive.
"I think it's a fair game. Downtown's neither of the two parties so I assume that will be a neutral ground. I accept and don't bother for a parting rite. I'll find my way to her place. Are we done?"
I cleared my throat and extended a hand to them both. "I-It's nice to hear you agree." When Deity shook my hand she pulled away immediately as if I burned her. The tense atmosphere in the room cleared when they left with Parker. Dad remained seated, disapproval visible on his countenance.
Nerissa stood and stared out the window as the car containing Deity left. "You got what you want." She chuckled, lifting the glass of wine she poured all of us for a toast. I hummed my agreement, still can't believe no protest came out of my mate's pretty little mouth.
And damn, Lev Volturno agreed.
"You have to prepare yourselves and the pack," Dad stood and saw my confusion at his words. "I always thought you're smarter than me, Ty. Now, I'm starting to think otherwise."
I growled lowly, disliking the idea of my own father's disapproval. Nerissa watched the exchange silently, knowing her place. "It was for the best, Dad. Nerissa and I are getting married, Deity Holland came unannounced and she's a human. She might be my wolf's mate but I certainly can choose who I want to be with. Besides, I don't want to be the next Lev Volturno." Acid coated my words when his name came out of my mouth.
Lev Volturno was the former alpha of this pack, the Vultur Pack. His father died when he was 15 and he took over. He was a good alpha. We were friends, together with Parker. I was to become his beta seeing that my father was his father's. Parker was to become the gamma. At eighteen, Lev found his mate. A human. He wooed her the human way, but the girl died before they could even complete the bond. She was fragile, and died because of cancer a year after they found each other.
He was heartbroken, devastated and weak. My father, assuming Lev's behavior would damage the pack, challenged him to a fight for the alpha title. My father won because of the years he spent training and his wolf being more mature. Lev accepted everything and retreated to his own home away from the pack. My father ruled the pack for six years and gave me the position when I was twenty-five, and Parker moved up the rank. For three years now, I still rule the Vultur Pack.
"There is a reason why I kept Lev in this pack, aside from guilt." Dad's statement brought me back to the present.
"And there is a reason why I want Lev out of the pack for good." I stood, still tensed and in a bad mood.
I want him out of the pack so he won't be a threat to my postion anymore.
Dad chuckled with mild amusement, "Yes, and that is driving him straight to a true Luna." I saw Nerissa grimaced but she remained silent. "You're right when you said you can choose who you want to be with, but you've done a great deal for Lev. You chose for him."
I did not. I exiled him with my mate.
