Chereads / Fallen for the Forbidden Alpha / Chapter 5 - 5. Prisoner

Chapter 5 - 5. Prisoner

She was free, no longer clasped between William's fingers. She was free to run and roar with the energy she was born with. She was silly enough to think that she wouldn't be able to do this but turned out this was exactly what she was meant to do. She was meant to be above some sickening rules.

Fear, she could feel it slowly leaving behind, unable to catch up with her wolf's speed. She smirked at her triumph and the defeat her fear had to endure. It never felt this good, the midnight full moon where she ran without any guilt of her actions or grief.

This dream was too good to be true and at once the precise detailing of the forest bound her to believe in this transitory spellbound moment. She'd given in to her wolf and she never anticipated that this was what freedom tasted like. And now that she'd had a taste, she wanted the whole feast to herself.

It was obvious she never wanted it to end but something inside of her was dragging her away from this dream right after she saw . . . she saw a gigantic wolf covered in dark fur right in front of her, howling on the top of his lungs as the earth sized full moon gleamed behind him. He was twice as her wolf and her wolf wasn't small.

He spared her a glance and she was able to get a look of his enchanting forest green eyes. They looked like a witch's amulet and had the aura of a dangerous evil that looked back into her naive eyes but she couldn't shake off the feeling of getting drawn to it. It sent shivers down her wolf's spine.

~~~~~~
Her neck hurt as she tried to hold herself from the aftereffects of that peaceful mirage. Disappointment and sadness flushed her features as she slowly took in the darkness surrounding her. Evelyn had a hunch that reality would be different but she honestly hadn't expected it to be so dull. It was like she'd literally dropped down from heaven and went straight to hell. That was what her dream felt like, heaven and she cursed silently for falling down to earth, in nothing but a dire reality.
Her eyes fluttered open to take in her environment and black was all she saw along with distinct filth and dirt in that gloomy darkness. The only source of so-called illumination in the room was a hole that was dug somewhere in the walls, permitting the presence of a little amount of moonlight in the room she was in—or rather a cell.
If she'd thought her room back at her home was a prison then this cell was a mental asylum designed for someone surely not as fit as Evelyn. It was the dimmest place she'd ever been in and being the luxurious princess she was she wasn't happy about it.
It was smaller than her personal bathroom and was nowhere in between one to ten in terms of tidiness in contrast with her previous room—she really missed it now. The brick walls were covered in dirt and dust that constantly made her cough.
She wondered if this was really how her future was going to look like, dimmed and hidden behind the twilight of wretchedness. She could feel her throat singed and burned from all coughs she'd let out and finally that seemed to catch someone's attention.
"Aw, does the princess miss her five-star suite room?" Evelyn jumped at the manly sound before turning her head to find the source. She hadn't been able to concentrate towards the steps that had followed her cell in silence. There were surely more than a single person but no one else seemed to be interested enough to introduce themselves.
The man who had called her, Evelyn could tell he wasn't a man but rather a guy in his late teenage years. He was leaning against the cell bars as a smug smirk danced on his lips, he seemed to have been taking this as his victory. But because of her willful nature, she wasn't going to give him that. She might be a scared cat with William in the same room but she had a furious wolf inside her and she wouldn't allow anyone to suppress her little friend.
"Let me out and you'll know who misses what." He let out an unbelievable series of laugh at her threat as if it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard.
"What will you do to me human?" That caught her off guard.
Evelyn was shocked and nearly gasped. How come he knew about her human personality? The only ones who knew about this were her family and their friends and he wasn't surely either of them, unless he was someone working against them in their pack. Although from his face she could tell he was a complete stranger to her—however, she didn't know much of her pack so . . .
"How do you know?" She asked with utter seriousness.
His expression abruptly changed and his eyes turned even more vicious. Before he could've had said something, an annoyed growl erupted near the area stopped him. The other man—he was clearly a man—neared him until he was leaning against the bars too and then something about him hit Evelyn, his scent.
Even though she wasn't a werewolf she had some of the impaired abilities of one. And his scent felt familiar to her. It was the one she'd smelt on the street. Her eyes widened at the realization that these two men had kidnapped her and brought her here by force. Her heartbeat began to quicken at the silence possibilities regarding her future in this cell.
"Why did you bring me here?" Her tone came out as challenging which she hadn't hoped for since the man in front of her was a beta and she could sense it by the aura that was released from his body. He was intimidating.
His eyes burned with rage and disrespect that she'd inflicted upon him. She'd guessed him to yell at her but her heart literally skipped a beat when he started to unbolt the cell. She felt fear churning up inside of her but she had to veil her weaknesses, she couldn't give in so soon, she had a responsibility, to survive.
She felt every inch of her trembling as he closed the proximity between them and then his hands trapped her throat and pinned her against the wall within a period of only a few seconds. His hot breaths were burning her face as she started to wiggle underneath his grasp. Her strength was no compare to his and with the passing moment she could feel her feeble attempts of being freed running in vain. He wouldn't even let her budge before he started barking at her face.
"You are in no position to demand anything!" His grip tightened harshly around her throat and her heartbeat rang in her ears, that was all she could hear at the moment. "Now act like a good pet—or, do I have to discipline you into one?"
He stated the last sentence with a hint of smirk playing on his lips and she went on with her feeble endeavors to escape his clasp. His voice laced with his malicious intent scared her to an unbelievable extent but she couldn't elaborate that to her wolf as she continued with her stupid trials.
At last he let her go and she fell straight to the ground, her bottom hitting the cold floor as she choked on her breaths. Her neck felt as though a huge burden was lifted off of it and her inhaling slowly began to calm down but it was not peaceful. Her vision was beginning to redden and she was nearly summoned to another peaceful mirage in her subconscious mind.
She didn't see them leave nor did she care as she tried to regain herself. She heard the door bolt as he was out and most possibly spat in her direction but she was too occupied with pain to notice. She didn't want this life for herself; today he choked her, tomorrow he might actually treat her like an omega if not less. She didn't want to be used as a weapon nor as a means of . . . she hoped it wasn't like that here.
She cursed William inwardly for putting his child in this mess. She had a guess that he wouldn't be able to rescue her, not from this. She'd have to help herself.
Evelyn's eyes hovered absentmindedly around the cell until it fell on the little hole. The tyndall effect as the moonlight entered the room became perceptible. The dust particles were suspended in the glowing blue light.
She dawdled towards the hole and crouched down to its level. Only one of her eye could fit into that but it was large enough for her to admire the gleaming glow of full moon.
'The full moon. It's time.' Her wolf growled inside of her, matching Evelyn's wrath. She agreed to her as her body started to heat up and steam began to release from it.
'We will break some bones tonight.' Her wolf promised as they both stared at the cell bars.
