Chereads / Fallen for the Forbidden Alpha / Chapter 11 - 11. The Behaved Maiden

Chapter 11 - 11. The Behaved Maiden

As like his words had promised, he sent some of the maids to clean up the mess Lisa had given existence to and it surely looked like a beast used to live in there. She couldn't help but feel bad about how she reacted earlier.

Perhaps she should go down and talk to her friend, ask her why she did it. After all no one knew it better than Evelyn herself what it felt like to be under an alpha's compulsion. It'd made one to give up their will sooner or later. She'd went through it multiple times when she was staying with William. It felt horrifically excruciating.

Evelyn was still furious about Jasmine's betrayal but she didn't have anyone else here and a little companionship wouldn't kill even if nothing would be the same between them.

She'd just have to induce her wolf to cooperate. She wasn't planning on living alone for the rest of her life when the alpha was gone. Evelyn even thought to inquire Jasmine regarding her alpha's name since he wasn't coming back anytime soon.

Just as she'd twisted back to meet the door Evelyn saw her friend standing nervously at the threshold. She was a petite woman, almost a feet shorter than Evelyn.

Sweat beads were slithering down her temples and neck and worry was dripping from her eyes. Evelyn knew that only happened when Jasmine was feeling extremely hot or anxious and right now, it could be both.

She wasn't meeting Evelyn's gaze, avoiding it as her eyes roamed to different corners of Evelyn's now destroyed room.

With much strength she forced her lips to move, "A-aren't y-you hungry?" She inquired in a low, trembling tone as she still avoided falling in Evelyn's sight.

Evelyn wanted to soothe her down and comfort her but it'd be too soon. She deserved a bit of Evelyn's torture.

"What can you get me?" Evely smoothly wrapped her arms around herself, trying her best to look serious and mad.

Jasmine peeked at her naïvely from under her lashes and answered biting her lip, "Cupcake and brownies."

Evelyn choked back a laugh at her friend's innocent expression but couldn't help the smile that crept its way furiously onto her so-called serious facade. It was harder to keep a straight face than she'd imagined, especially in front of a person who looked like they'd recently went through the loss of their favourite puppy. She looked hilariously innocent.

"Only if I get extra chocolate sauce." Evelyn quickly added before Jasmine could've been much happy with her reaction.

'How could you say no to cupcake and brownies?' Evelyn thought.

Jasmine smiled and nodded violently in respond to Evelyn's demand. Evelyn couldn't stay mad at this being for too long and surely it wasn't her fault that she rat her out. Perhaps she was wrong to forgive Jasmine too soon but she needed someone to stand by her side when it was the right time.

Evelyn followed her downstairs as she stormed passed by every wolf in excitement and jumped down the last few stairs like a mischievous little child.

Everyone either gave her a crazed or knowing look as Evelyn just followed silently in her steps, oblivious to everything and every whisper that was going on in the background at her mere presence.

They're really her father's enemy and not fond of Evelyn much either. There was a distinct hate and disgust in their eyes when they looked at her.

She knew William had a gruesome past and his doings were almost unforgivable or so she'd heard but when her eyes met their, it was clearer than day that every awful story ever narrated for her father, they're all true.

It wasn't possible to think that these people who were shooting daggers at her side just by their gaze would ever accept Evelyn as their luna. If possible, they'd kill her with the first chance they got.

Thinking about what they would've done to her in the prison if it wasn't for her destiny made her empty stomach sick.

She endeavoured to not put much focus on them and hurried behind Jasmine into the kitchen. It was a part of the awfully huge living room in the hall where two pairs of staircases landed from top floors.

This wasn't anything like the mansion Evelyn had grown up in, it was far more elegant, nice and modern. She felt as though she could actually breathe around here. She felt homely.

Evelyn was leaning against the dining table, admiring the sight as her friend took out the fresh cupcakes from oven and chocolate brownies from refrigerator. She was very quick and prefessional with the batter she'd made earlier and before Evelyn knew, the cakes were ready to serve her tummy. She also placed extra chocolate sauce, as demanded, on the tray and served Evelyn like her own personal maid.

Evelyn hated the idea of treating the beta female like that and so did everyone else but before the beta female, she was Evelyn's best friend and this was her making up for her mistake. Evelyn couldn't deprive her of that and besides she was way too much grumpy because of her lack of meal to care about what everyone thought.

She poured the chocolate sauce on the cakes without wasting a second and was quick to swallow a whole cupcake at once.

She hoped silently her alpha mate wouldn't see her like that otherwise he'd surely disgust her. She was on roll and eating like a hungry beast who hadn't been fed in a millennia. Her wolf was hungry as well because of the fight they'd put up last night.

Not only her mate but if her father had seen her today eating like that, a towtruck driver, he would've made sure that she couldn't have anything in her gut for at least a weak. He tortured Evelyn like that every time she did something out of his plans or itineraries or rules.

'Guess what? I'd just almost mated outside his knowledge!' Evelyn squealed internally.

She didn't know how he'd take it. William was not the kind of man to hold patience and sympathy for those who went against him and anyone would agree to that. And she dreaded that the most.

What if he denied her the post of his daughter, an Osborne female? What if he held her guilty for treason for mating with one of his enemies?

She pushed all those thoughts to the back of her mind where they'd come from. She didn't need those specific imaginations right now where she was crying and begging for her life.

As soon as the taste of brownie and chocolate returned in her mind, she realized they're delicious.

When Evelyn was done she swiftly snatched the napkin from the holder and brought it close to her mouth, cleaning herself gently like the lady she was. However, then a furious wind came from within her, and before she knew she'd belched.

Evelyn covered her mouth as her cheeks burned and turned red like a tomato. It was the most embarrassing thing she'd ever done in her life.

She looked at Jasmine who was looking down at her in utter shock. Evelyn fluttered her eyelids innocently as a wide and proud grin made its appearance on Jasmine's face.

"Finally!" She chimed throwing both of her arms around Evelyn and brought her closer in a firmed embrace.

"No longer the behaved maiden!" She chimed again even louder and clearer. She had been trying to get Evelyn try embarrassing things since the first time they'd met and finally after an year, she succeeded.

"Okay okay I think they got it." Evelyn stepped out of her embrace, coughing as she did.

Evelyn thought Jasmine had really strong arms, probably stronger than her boyfriend.

Every pair of eyes were still on them as they pulled apart and Evelyn decided to ask her friend a question she'd been dying to ask since her time in here.

"What's your pack's name?" Jasmine instantly tensed at Evelyn's question and went quiet for a long time. Evelyn used that time to peek at everyone else and much to her surprise they shared the same intense look like the one on Jasmine's face.

"That's not for you to know." A voice rebuked from behind and a female walked beside Jasmine's side. Evelyn gazed the blonde one up and down and she could tell exactly who she was. A gamma female, the mate of the third in command.

Evelyn's wolf growled at her attitude. This girl had no right to talk to Evelyn like that since she was most probably her future luna. "What makes you think so?" Evelyn asked in the same irritated and daunting tone.

"Just because you thought it funny to screw around with our alpha, it doesn't give you the glory and title that belongs to a true luna." Evelyn thought this girl had a big mouth as her wolf began to feel angered by her nerves.

"Need I remind you that it was your alpha who got me kidnapped, got me here, locked me up in a room and not to mention plans on marking me even when I'd almost escaped his territory?" Evelyn barked at her face, taking everyone else by surprise.

In her home she didn't have the authority nor courage to speak so high but here, no one cared.

"What's his name by the way?" Evelyn turned to Jasmine trying to ignore this stupid girl who was probably as the same age as her and Jasmine.

Jasmine couldn't comprehend Evelyn's question until it became too obvious who she was asking for. Jasmine hesitated and bit her lip moment after another, not knowing wheather to speak or not.

"Do you want me to trust you again or not?" Evelyn wasn't meaning to push it so far but she didn't have a choice. She needed to do this, she needed to know something about him and her.

"M-Michael." Jasmine stuttered and her voice came out as a whisper.

Evelyn didn't reply and just stared, she was too awestruck by the name to even move the tip of her fingers. She was lost in a heavy train of thoughts, overwhelming emotions and her dreadful reality.

'What have I gotten myself into?' She cried without so much tears and sobs.
