Michael dragged her out in the open chilly woods. Within less than a minute after he proposed his so-called offer he lifted Evelyn up in his arms, clearly impatient with her lack of response. Evelyn made sure to drag a quilt along with her just in case she needed it on her way back home.
He'd taken a shortcut from the hall and then some other hallways—she didn't remember, this place wasn't less than a spider's web. It was a castle to be short, a very ancient castle yet he'd managed to make the insides look like to an audience as if a modern billionaire lived in here. And he wasn't less than one since he was basically the most feared alpha. Although for the enemies, it was a maze they could get lost into in the snap of a finger. It was twisted—just like his mind.
Evelyn couldn't yet solve the mystery though. Why did he want to go for running at this hour and take her with him?
His arm stayed wrapped around her waist as if Evelyn was a precious piece of trophy that needed to be handled with extreme care and gentleness. However she liked it despite it being a possessive and protective gesture, it was the sweetest one he'd made till yet.
Reading her thoughts a smile, a genuine one crept up to Michael's face but immediately got veiled by his dead serious gaze. Evelyn couldn't help but smile back and bring her thin arm around his waist. It took him by surprise and his steps came to a halt for only one second before he smiled back and led the way.
They came across a giant tree that had its branches far and wide as if eager to approach the night sky.
He let go of her waist and caught the hem of his tight shirt and brought it above his head and got rid of it on the ground. And when he did that Evelyn was struck by his absolute beauty.
His abs were the most astounding thing about his torso apart from his tatoos and his shoulders that were two times wider than her own gave her strange hiccups. His pants hung lower around his abdomen and his chiselled jaw was shining in the slight moonlight along with his entire naked torso.
Evelyn's finger were badly itching to touch and feel his skin against them. He'd feel so amazing under her hands. His chest was shaved and his every muscle was making itself visible under her gaze. It took everything in her to not rush over and run her hands through his brownish hair with golden glints. Evelyn could see a smirk unveiling on his face as he . . .
Evelyn's eyes widened and she swiftly averted her gaze when she saw him unbuckling his pants.
"Don't be coy little wolf, because my eyes will enjoy every bit of your body."
Evelyn heard him say and his words rang in her ears for a long time until reality kicked in and she walked over to the other side of the tree so he couldn't catch her undressing. No one had ever seen her naked and she decided to keep it that way for a while.
She grasped the hem of her top and slid it above her head and let it fall on the ground. She quickly pulled down the shorts she was in. She felt the heat rising in her body after the cold struck her bare skin as fur began to rise from her body.
Soon she was covered in her white fur and standing on her pink paws. She still wasn't used to this position and it seemed awkward to have heightened sense of smell and hearing. Not to mention sometimes she'd get confuse how to express an emotion because she'd forget that she couldn't talk.
A low growl came from behind her and she twisted back almost immediately at the sound. A large black wolf dawdled towards her with his intense forest green eyes searching the depth of her soul.
He neared her as an unfamiliar purr came from within his chest that had her wolf jumping in excitement on the inside—she could be such a child sometimes. He was inches away from her when he finally broke the strange tension between them by a mind-link.
"Run." He said and Evelyn gave him a perplexed stare. Her wolf and she both had difficulties comprehending his intentions.
"We're going to play a game. I'll count to ten and you've to run as far away from me as possible and I'll hunt you down." His intentions were still a haze to her until he finally made himself clear, "If I caught you—which I will—you will have to abide by my wish for a whole day." He declared.
Her heart was pounding rapidly in her chest but it wasn't from fear, a new spark of excitement and wonder was glowing deep inside of her and he sensed it too.
"What if I don't want to?" She asked sounding challangeing.
He didn't react in the same alpha mode he would've if it had been someone else calling his bluff. With her, his wolf was rather impressed and wanting. "You don't have a choice." He dismissed dominantly.
"And what if I won?" Evelyn eyed him with utter curiosity even if her heart was aching from the rapid pounding. He didn't say anything and looked at her smugly. She knew what he was thinking, that Evelyn would lose under every circumstance but she wasn't sure. She could never be utterly sure about her wolf.
"1 . . . 2 . . . "
She ran. She ran not turning hack to spare him a glimpse of her overjoyed wolf. It was true that her human side was still unsure but her wolf had entirely given in to him. Her wolf had accepted this submission to her dominant and right now she was eager to know the end of this game. Her wolf was the one who wanted to lose without even trying but where was the fun in that?
As Evelyn ran away from him she felt an ecstasy swimming inside of her and she was internally smiling knowing a beast was on the hunt for her. He was going to hunt her down and make her his—perhas that was what excited her, the danger and adventure behind his husky tone, one laced with nothing but lust excited her and unwittingly she was craving the end of this game too.
Evelyn ran past several bushes and kept running deep into the forest. It was his territory without a single doubt and he was familiar with every narrow path or lane that extended onto her way. Maybe she'd made a mistake but she didn't own her mind at the moment, something else did.
She was scampering close to somewhere she didn't notice, she didn't recognize. It was utterly dark here as she found her way into the night. He was nearing her with every worn-out breath but then he wasn't.
She couldn't feel him no more, nor could she hear his paws following after her. Evelyn thought it could've been a trap, perhaps he was teasing her and scaring her before claiming his victory.
She stopped dead on her tracks and slowly came back to her senses which was a dangerous play. She cautiously looked around in a defensive armour, her claws slightly digging into the ground beneath her paws. Her bare fangs were on display as her snout began to sense a different smell lingering in the air—another powerful scent which was far away from lavendar. It wasn't her mate's, there was another wolf in the territory.
Before she could've processed her thoughts, a series of growls and grunts followed closely where she was and her defence slowly broke down. She endeavoured to run towards the noise, alarmed with not the sound but the fact that she could smell blood. Blood that was probably laced with her mate's scent.
Panic was building up in her stomach as she was nearing the spot of the incident but someone saved her that trouble. Before she knew, she felt on her back with a huge, heavy furry creature towering over her body, blocking out her vision.
But she wasn't lost, not just yet.
