'No no no no no! What did I do? I couldn't be that stupid! This is just a dream!'
Evelyn begged silently as she looked at the alpha whom she'd just submitted to pleadingly. This was a grave, forbidden mistake—no sin! She had just committed to the worst devilish sin out there! She'd broken William's one austere law.
Just thinking about her father's thoughts regarding this situation made her sick to the stomach. To say that she was scared was an understatement. She was beyond terrified and to add to her problems, the alpha was now looking at her as if she was his meal.
Evelyn sought not to consider the possibility of losing her freedom or her life to this stranger. She was unsure and doubtful as she raised her head up to meet his level and dark forest green eyes that looked famished but it was a different sort of craving, a hunger she wasn't yet accustomed to. She felt shivers running down her spine as she took in the peculiar eager in his eyes and the first thing that her mind was able to process was run. And she did.
Without any words exchanged Evelyn managed to run away from him. It was indeed a stupid act since he was more dominative and powerful but in that moment, she could only think of it as an escape. She couldn't submit to him or to any other wolf when William had promised her to someone else. And Evelyn didn't even know the alpha! She couldn't grasp one good enough reason for her wolf to submit to him.
'He's the one.' She spoke nervously and shamelessly to Evelyn.
Evelyn knew what she meant and that must've been the reason why she ignored her. After all her wolf wasn't the one who'd have to endure William's wrath. Evelyn didn't even want to think what he would do to her if he found out . . . It was her worst nightmare coming to life.
Evelyn paid no heed to the road in front of her. Where she was and where she'd be the next moment were a mystery to her. However, before she took another step her paws came to a halt, sliding across the drenched bush and stopped right in front of a giant black wolf. She was inches away from colliding against his rough fur when her paws stopped in their tracks.
Just his mere presence sent sparks throughout her body but that didn't favor the fact that she was still a feeling a bit uneasy. She trembled from the presence as he neared her, unable to fantasize his next actions. It was honestly not the scary kind of scare to face him unarmed but was rather a challenging one as if his wolf was calling out to hers to join him into a dangerous adventure.
'Don't even think about it!' Evelyn snarled at her wolf who whined back in response.
"Why are you running away from me?" The alpha questioned in the same daunting tone but with an addition of softness and warmth.
"I . . . I have t-to go h-home." She stuttered as he came closer, the chill from his body giving her goosebumps. It was taking everything in her to not lose herself right now and give in to him.
"No you do not." He said firmly almost gritting his teeth, "You belong to me." She shuddered again when he put a claim on her. He was already getting all possessive and Evelyn couldn't stand it but she hadn't the strength to rebuke back, nor the authority.
"I don't." That was all she could muster to say in her feeble state with her emotion's a mess.
He snarled lowly at her words as she backed away until she couldn't. Evelyn had her back glued together with a bark and before she could take a new turn, he blocked her every way with his huge body. She gasped at the shock of his closeness. Never had she been this close to any men and it was bothering her. She breathed the air he exhaled out, the wind around her filled with scrumptious scent but all she could think about was running.
"What did you say?" He asked as if not believing Evelyn's words.
She was cowering away more and more and had the urge to cry. This man was borderline intimidating and his aura gave her cautious shivers. She mustered the strength in her to speak as she was on the verge of losing her mind to a trance. Her neck and gut still hurt from the claw marks that hadn't healed. She wanted to pass out so badly.
"I said I don't belong to you." She muttered with much firmness this time.
His expression switched between disbelief and anger as his eyes darkened. Evelyn regretted her every spoken word as . . . as darkness began to unfold before her eyes. Before she knew or could process anything, her vision went black.

Evelyn couldn't remember much as she woke to the sound of several gossips running around where she was lying. It was odd. Her eyes blinked several times before it was finally able to take in her surroundings. However she had her ears on the gossips for a while now.
"Are you sure?" "That's what I've heard." "She's really his mate." "They said she submitted to him." "And he felt a spark too." "But she is—" "I know but he wants her." "Wrong his wolf wants her." "She's an Osborne!"
Evelyn felt sick eavesdropping at their conversation but at the same time she couldn't blame herself as they're the ones to start this gossip around her bed when she was half awake. It was probably the reason she woke up too soon otherwise the nasty scars on her skin had planned on keeping her unconscious for a longer while.
"Enough!" This voice was familiar to Evelyn. Among all the other voices, this one had quite distinctly matched with the one in her memory. "What he feels is none of your concerns!" There were no words spoken after her command and Evelyn suddenly felt her heart clench at the painful guess.
'It couldn't be.' She thought.
Evelyn opened her eyes and straightened her back on the headboard with an inhuman force, almost earning a headache in the process along with several other gasps from the crowd. She shook them off as her eyes searched for that one face, one that might be familiar to her in this unknown territory. But she wasn't happy about that, she dreaded that truth.
Her eyes fell on several stunned faces, looking down at her as if they'd seen a ghost. And then Evelyn came across her and her fear came alive. Evelyn gasped as her onyx eyes met a pair of ebony brown ones and she choked back a tear. Her best friend. Her only friend was before her eyes but Evelyn wasn't happy about that because she knew what this meant.
She was the one. The one to betray Evelyn. She told her alpha about Evelyn and her human nature and because of Evelyn's lack of strength she couldn't recognize her friend's wolf. All this time when Evelyn was being honest with her, her friend was stabbing a knife in her back. Evelyn was convinced that her backstabber friend was worse than the man who had locked her up in her room for all her life.
She looked at Evelyn's troubling gaze and instantly knew what Evelyn was thinking and began to motion towards her. Evelyn felt an aura surround her as her friend neared her and sat on the edge of her bed. This aura felt familiar to Evelyn along with the scent that lingered on her friend but didn't belong to her. Female wolves didn't have such strong scent but males did and Evelyn knew exactly who it belonged to. After all that man was going to rip Evelyn apart like she was nothing only a night ago.
"How do you feel?" Her friend asked as genuine seriousness dripped from her voice and Evelyn hated it. Right now Evelyn disgusted her and she didn't bother to hide it.
Evelyn wanted to be angry but instead ended up laughing hard, "You are even worse than your beta boyfriend." Evelyn made sure to look in her friend's eyes as she spoke lacking any emotion, "He nearly ripped my throat but you . . ." Evelyn indicated towards the claw marks on her neck, "you ripped my heart without even trying."
Her friend's voice seemed to have been caught at her throat as she endeavored to speak but nothing came out. She glanced down at her hand as shame coated her features but Evelyn couldn't care any less.
"I'm sorry." Her friend said it almost as if it was a whisper.
This time Evelyn was enraged and her wolf wanted to crawl out on the surface and Evelyn wasn't even paying heed to calm her down. "Get out before I tear your apart and eat you up raw." Evelyn threatened in a calm but rigid tone and several gasps and groans followed from the girls behind her.
'Don't like me much, guess what? I do not care!' Evelyn growled in her head giving them all a deserving glare.
While everyone was scared and following each other out of the door, Jasmine sat silently close to her and cried her eyes out without a voice. Evelyn knew that there would be hell to pay if her boyfriend saw her like this but she was over the fact of caring for her well-being.
Evelyn didn't spare her another glance as she waited patiently for Jasmine to leave so she could break every single thing in this room and cry her eyes out until she'd had enough.
"I didn't mean to." Jasmine whispered again looking at Evelyn with puppy dog eyes but the mere thing Evelyn saw was betrayal. She was guilty of course and Evelyn wanted her to feel that way after selling her so-called best friend out.
Evelyn gave her a stern look, she didn't demonstrate her thoughts or the emotions that she was feeling. "Leave." She said with an authority Jasmine couldn't decline and left without another word, crying all the way.
'I hate her.' Evelyn's wolf agreed with her.
