If she kept refusing Mr. Alistair's offer to be business partners, he might get offended when he was the one offering it to a newbie like her.
Loraine had read articles about him after encountering him at Mt. Kang.
There must be a lot of people doing all sorts of things trying to get on his good side just for a chance to ride his coattails, especially with all the success he had been having in business.
Thus, other people would have been very delighted if they got an offer like this from Mr. Alistair. They would have grabbed it immediately.
But not Loraine. She wasn't into making more business when she already had the money.
She would use all her money for travel and leisure instead, not for additional work.
Loraine had learned her lesson from her past life. What was the use of working hard if she did not reap the benefits?
She would not allow her money to sit in the bank without using it again.
'You can work hard all on your own, Mr. Alistair. Hehe. Sorry, but it's just not my thing anymore,' Loraine wanted to say but just kept it to herself.
"My friend is finally here.
I guess I have to go now.
Once again, thank you for your help, Miss Loraine.
As for opening a business or when you encounter any problems in the future, you can count on me for help," Mr. Alistair smiled and prepared to go.
"I will remember your words, Mr. Alistair." Loraine smiled back.
She would reap her rewards from him in the future, once the need arose.
Though, hopefully not. It was better to not encounter any problems that would make her ask for help from Mr. Alistair.
If there was anything she would need, it would probably not be about putting up a business, though.
"This is my number. Please call me anytime you need help." Mr. Alistair handed her a business card.
Even his business card was evidently for the rich.
It was black with gold letters. It was simple but elegant, and it suited Mr. Alistair well.
"I shall." Loraine agreed once again and handed Sarah the business card.
Mr. Alistair raised a brow when he saw what she did. The look of surprise on his face was there only for a second, though.
'Oops. Did I hurt his pride? Is even his business card so valuable that only a select few can hold it? I already memorized his number though,' Loraine sweatdropped.
Memorizing the contact numbers of important people had become easy for her due to her former job as a CEO's secretary. It was something she had to do often.
It seems Mr. Alistair misunderstood her action as disregarding his offer or not thinking of it as something significant.
'Should I explain? But what if I hurt his pride even more if I revealed that I noticed his reaction? '
Before Loraine could decide on what to do, Mr. Alistair spoke again as a handsome and tall man wearing eyeglasses entered and waved at them with a smile on his face. He was probably Mr. Alistair's friend.
"Ah, that's my friend, Kent," Mr. Alistair confirmed her theory.
"Alistair! Long time, no see! "Kent kept waving as he walked to them.
Mr. Alistair did not respond even once to the waving and simply gave Kent a look that said, "What the hell took you so long? "
Kent ignored the look he received too and simply said frivolously, "I came to pick you up, but you won't even greet me back."
Mr. Alistair just stared at Kent with a cold face. He had a look on his face that said, sometimes, he didn't want to admit that the one standing in front of him was one of his close friends.
It was rather funny, but Loraine stopped herself from laughing since it would seem rude.
"Oh my! Aren't you, Miss Loraine Antares? "Kent gasped dramatically upon glancing at her and realizing who she was.
He was only focused on Mr. Alistair earlier, probably wondering how his friend was doing. Especially with all the cast and bandages on Mr. Alistair. He was in a wheelchair too.
Now, he finally noticed her.
"Yes, nice to meet you. Mr. Kent..." Loraine didn't know his last name and glanced at Sarah for help. But Sarah shook her head. She did not know either.
Loraine just extended her hand for a handshake instead.
"Lowell. I'm Kent Lowell," he introduced himself and accepted her handshake.
No, he didn't accept it as a handshake.
Kent held her hand, bowed slightly, and brought it up to his lips.
Loraine flinched as Kent kissed the back of her hand like a gentleman in the olden days.
'What the hell?! Who does this in this day and age?! '
Loraine was so surprised that she looked around for help, but everyone was as taken aback as her.
Even Mr. Mo was surprised, but the instant he noticed Loraine looking around, he instantly got ready to drive the man away if he was making her uncomfortable.
Loraine raised her free hand to say everything was okay. Back in her world, this was a polite gesture.
"What the hell are you doing?!
Don't scare, Miss Loraine!
You already came late, and this is the first thing you do," Mr. Alistair scolded his friend.
"Oh my, did that scare you, Miss Loraine?
I'm so sorry.
I do this every time I meet a lady of your caliber.
And it wasn't that often." Kent got away with it by looking so innocent and playful like a child.
"I see. I'll take that as praise then, Mr. Kent," Loraine smiled politely.
'When will you let go of my hand?! Is Mr. Alistair's friend a perverted doctor?! '
First, Kent kissed the back of her hand, and it lasted for two seconds. Now he was still holding her hand for about ten seconds.
Or was Loraine simply too conscious because she wasn't used to this and Kent was a dashing man?
