Chapter 10 - The Grand Plan

"Argh!"

My eyelids felt heavy until I felt a nasty sharp pain as someone deliberately twisted the splinter that penetrated into my arms during the survival run.

As soon as I got that dose of pain, a jolt of awareness streamed into my mind prompting me to search for the bastard culprit of a sadistic bitch.

And the culprit is none other than Klein.

I almost tore my eyes open with pain and surely was about to bang my forehead against his if he didn't place his hand to stop me before that.

"Awake." He greeted me with open hands and a second splinter twist. "Puak!"

'I am going to kill this bastard.' I swore as a mouthful of blood escaped my mouth.

"Are you cursing me?" He said with his natural shining red eyes as he looked at me lying on the ground and his grip on the splinter tightening.

I gave him a grim look as his grip on the splinter loosened due to him coming back to his senses.

He then quickly smiled and said, "Don't be like that! I have gone through much to kill that thing you provoked."

Somehow, the person in front of me looked like a demon in the middle of hell saying that he killed a bug I was scared of.

"But still, I never thought that a King ranking Decay centipede would attack you. No, but even before that, how the hell did a decay centipede reach such a level until it couldn't be identified as the same being anymore."

He contemplated with his finger pinching his chins.

"It must have existed since ancient times. There is no other possible explanation. Its ability also exceeded itself putting it on par with other mythological beings, I never knew that a decay centipede had so much growth potential."

I don't know what nonsense he is spouting but it seems to be about that beast.

His face twisted in a grimace as he said, "I expected to have a huge harvest but fate, sigh..."

"May I know what you are talking about?" I gave him blank stares.

I stood up as he got up from his knees and started walking away.

"Beasts are strong. So we rank them according to their strength and threat level in order to give an appropriate response to the danger they pose. The weakest of beasts are animals or basic beasts. They are pretty much normal without any ability."

He raised two fingers and said. "Then comes intermediate rank or mutated beasts who have their features and strength enhanced like that bear before."

Another finger raised. "Then comes advanced rank or elemental beast who can do some magical things like spewing fire."

Another one. "Then comes Giant rank who is stronger."

"Then comes king, Titan, emperor, prehistoric, ancient and mythological ranks."

"That makes it ten classifications of beasts based on strength."

"Every beast has a crystal inside it that keeps it alive. The value of the crystal depends upon the rank of the beast. The crystal can be used as an energy source or can be forged into weapons."

He nodded to himself and said, "Yup, that's the basic."

"Which rank did it belong to?" I asked.

"Maybe Giant, king, or titan." He contemplated.

"..."

"What? Don't look at me like that. I am too strong to give it a rank."

"Leave it alone but, what the heck did actually happen here?" I asked looking around.

How the hell did everything start burning again?

How did the ground turn into a sieve with so many pits?

How the hell did he kill something so big?

Even if he slashed the centipede with the sword,

How the hell could such a small sword could split that huge dick of a monster that has so many completely cut-off pieces?

'Haa, this magical world can make thinking harmful for health?'

'I am going to ditch this human being and run away after I get off this island for the sake of common sense.'

I picked up the knife and secretly pocketed it only to realize I have no pockets in the cloth wrapped around me.

'And buy some decent clothes.'

"Damn, I thought I would have to burn some wooden trunks to make a smoke signal but who would have thought that burning the forest would be enough?"

Klein is humming happily as the morning star showed his first glimpse after the dawn.

"Only a mad man would have thought of that? It is human to stay away from that thought." I folded my arms as I looked towards the sun in the utmost center of the sky.

In this world, the sun doesn't rise from the east and set towards the west, and neither vice versa is true.

On the contrary, the sun stays at noon in the sky throughout the days and years.

The sun is fixed and as it dims its light the day passes and at that time the light is completely gone, the sun looks exactly like a moon.

The sun keeps changing its size throughout the year and at the time it is smallest, it is scorching summer throughout the world and while it is at its largest, the sunlight is the weakest and it is freezing cold and blizzard.

The sun is so far away from the ground that from wherever you look, it appears almost horizontal.

And that is how the beautiful sunset and the beautiful sunrise get killed in this world.

A wonderful story to kill the mood.

"Klein, the coast of all the continents are located miles away from this island, right?"

"Yup."

"And no ships come near here in fear of bad omen from the devil."

"True and how could they come here when the exact location isn't public yet, they avoid all the islands in sight from the middle of the great ocean." He lectured.

"Then who the heck are we making a smoke signal for?"

"We would be lucky if someone noticed it."

I want to go back to my world already.
