"Wait, You father will still be here today."
He said frantically after noticing I was leaving.
"Why get so agitated? Not like I was going to leave for real." I laughed as I lied though my teeth to calm him down.
It would give me better opportunity to leave later.
"Now I think about it, why isn't there anyone around?"
The large hall was as empty as it could be.
I never been to formal party like this, all I have experienced are the private party with my friends and nothing else.
His expression became cold and said,
"Our family needs to be normal for things like that to happen. This year our family is collaborating with other families so their display is going to be before ours."
We walked upstairs and soon I heard many footsteps.
We walked down to the corridor and arrived in a room with blue hue.
Or it would be wrong to call it a room, rather the word suitable for it will be a hall.
We heard someone speaking with a loud and enthusiastic voice.
"This evidence concludes the presence of a civilization in the universe that has technology on our scale! "
"What do we have here?" I asked amused.
The theory of extra-terrestial life was bunked numerous years ago as we didn't find any signs of life from any corner of the milky way.
However, that wasn't the only thing going on.
"About five decades ago, we almost left alone A.I. robotics technology as we found AI systems much more efficient and there was no need for robots except for wars." said one while maintaining calm voice to develop curiosity.
"A science fair? " I guessed.
"Something like that. It was continued by your grandfather to promote unity between family by the mutual sharing of ideas. On hearing this, the muscat family shared a joint collaboration of this event between all groups and he agreed in a heart beat." Cousin shared.
"Muscats have always been the nosy ones, even when their leader is as quiet as a mute."
"True enough. " he agreed.
We moved forward and saw various inventions and ideas like direct nutrition from minerals, creating a universe, new Dyson models, dark matter explanations, new monetary plans and mutant beasts created by inertia.
All are interesting to say at least.
"You are here, Lucius."
A blonde boy with same height and looks as me came towards us and said,
"Lucien, it has been a long time." I said and presented a genuine smile.
He is my younger twin, Lucien. We were raised, separately but occasionally met each other, without parents.
"I could have never thought that the old man could have baited you to come here and above that, you took the bait." He said.
"I got baited, I guess. Why are you here? " I smiled helplessly.
Unlike me, Lucien hates both of our ancestors to bones and lived to become independent without their money from a young age.
While, I was chilling with every advantage I could get.
"But, why would he bait us? " Lucien asked while thinking.
We always discuss these theories and philosophical questions whenever we are together.
"To make us gain experience. " I said.
"You think he has enough time to do that. He probably called us for his experiments."
"For his experiments? " I asked, unlike me Lucien always keeps an up to date information about hospital.
"You... Did you really believe that we are gifted when they said you can punch a hole through a wall, have a natural night vision and flexible body."
"We are experimented on... " I suddenly had an unbelievable but obvious insight.
"Or maybe genetically engineered from birth? and they just want to see the results of their efforts." At the thought of this, Lucien for some reason bit his lips in frustration and I too had an uneasy feeling in my chest.
Now, I think about it, this thought isn't too far from hospital.
"Yo-You tw-wo just think too much-ch. Now move. The inertia hospital's display is ahead."
For some reason, cousin just stuttered too much at the thought of this or maybe the reason was something else.
Lucien and me suddenly felt a heavily built hand on our shoulders and cousin who was walking ahead turned back with widened eyes.
"No need to hide it now, Gremlin. I am sure they can't run away from here." We turned back and saw a black haired middle aged man with skin as pale as it could be and greys eyes that blends with the whites of his eyes making him look monstrous.
"Old man, you did some crazy things on yourself again. " Even though, Lucien hates him.
The hate is not strong enough to compel him to stab father on spot, at least yet.
"Vice-director! " Our cousin called Gremlin cried in surprise.
Many heads in the crowd turned towards us and we became the center of attention because of some social fool.
After all, the vice director is a high status in any group, no, a status of the highest order.
Even though, we twin have never been physically, some people have already guessed as the successor of the main family line.
"This is why I call you gremlin." Father said grimly making Gremlin sink down in embarrassment.
"hey-y what are you doing?" Without saying anything he dragged us forward, alas he had only two hands, so he screamed.
"Gremlin, follow us."
We came on a stage or to be more correct dragged here.
"Here comes, the two youngest members of the main line of Inertia's morning star bloodline. A new generation of humans, something that has left behind the mere humans in every aspect. The Homo extremus!!!"
The invisible commentator screamed in enthusiasm.
"I think old man broke my wrist." said Lucien while rubbing the red marks as his voice got microphones throughout the hall.
I am glad I followed without resistance.
