Chereads / Grimoire Level Up / Chapter 45 - The Eldritch Eye (2)

Chapter 45 - The Eldritch Eye (2)

Connor's beaten body was in no shape or form to fight whatever was outside in the first place, but the pain that still lingered within him was making him unable to even move a muscle without feeling like his whole body being torn apart.

Luckily, not long after, a wave of a refreshing, eye widening clarity drowned him, the fear, nervousness and the anxiety were all washed away, his mind became completely calm as he started analyzing the situation and quickly came up with an emergency plan, his mind and body worked in harmony while with every slam against the wooden house Connor managed to pinpoint each and every creature, their probable size and numbers.

"There are 6 Creatures, 2 are most likely the Alligator looking ones but the other 4 are unknown, although they seem to be bigger than the other two… unknown lifeforms means danger… I should not fight and escape if possible" Connor muttered before looking around him.

In the room he was in there was a window facing the side where the creatures were attacking while on the other side of the room was a blocked backdoor, the one he blocked himself. He slowly reached into his Inventory, gritting his teeth as he could barely take the pain and grabbed a Medium Healing Potion, gulping it down.

Unlike the Small Healing Potions, which only stops bleedings and form scabs, the Medium ones could easily stop bleeding, form scabs and slowly start to close the wound before the scabs that formed a few seconds ago start to peel off by themselves and fall. Connor's body was quickly healed from all injuries, leaving the only hindrance being the pain from within him, which he still does not understand at all yet.

"Grim, what is happening to me?" Connor asked out of desperation, not expecting an answer, but the Grimoire appeared, opening and settling on an empty page, not long after text started writing itself as it changed every second.

Connor watched the text as it kept changing, increasing the percentage slowly but steadily.

"Not enough time!" Connor muttered, crawling towards the bed and quickly hiding underneath it. He then reached into his Inventory and grabbed all the meat he had on him and threw the pieces on the bloody spot where he was. "Luckily I've stocked up on my way here!"

Connor already knew, from the sounds the walls were making, the flow of the percentage and even how long it would take him to remove the backdoor blockage that he lost the race, time was not on his side.

"The percentage counter might finish before they come in, but would the pain instantly disappear? will I be able to move without issues after? How long would it take me to recover from the pain if it did? How long would it take me to remove the blockage and run without being seen by those things? All of these are risks that are not in my favor!" Connor gritted his teeth as he pulled the mattress from the bed down next to him and used the covers to block the other side, doing whatever he can to not be seen hiding down there, as for the smell? The meat and blood at the other side of the room would hide his own... Hopefully!

The words on the page kept changing as Connor watched, but his attention was quickly pulled away as a loud crash and growling filled the room. Footsteps echoed as the claws taping on the wood were fairly obvious.

The Creatures quickly sniffed around, locating the blood pile and meat pieces everywhere before rushing towards it, growling and snarling at each other as they grabbed a piece of meat and ate it barbarically.

From a small gap between the mattress and his feet, Connor managed to see the 6 creatures. Two, as he expected, were the Alligator monsters he fought until now, but the other 4 were odd. They looked similar to the Alligators, with the same faces and scales and whatnot but they seemed to be more… humanoid than the others.

They stood on two feet as their bodies were perfectly proportioned, if not for the reptilian head Connor would have thought they were a human with scales covering them. "Intelligent enough to use weapons too" Connor saw each of them holding some kind of poorly made weapon.

The first one had a spear on its back, and seemed to be made out of wood with the tip made of stone.

The second one had a Sword on its waist, held by a badly made belt that held onto a leather outfit that looked like ot was made by cavemen.

The third and fourth had axes, also made out of wood and stones.

"A barbaric tribe of some sort?" Connor frowned as he continued to watch them eat the meat as if they never ate a thing before.

"Disgusting!" Connor thought to himself.
