Chapter 50 - Nightmare (2)

Oscor was done with his night routine. After eating his dinner, reading a book and cleaning a few of his personal Artifact collections he sat down on his bed, blew out the candles and his head was about to lay on the pillow when something startled him.

Knock! Knock!

"What bastard would come this late?" He mumbled under his breath, stood up and walked towards the door still mumbling.

"Oscor!" Connor stood outside looking at the muscular bearded man in pajamas a little too tight.

"Connor? What the hell are you doing here at this time? Don't you know people are sleeping? Whatever business you have with me could wait until tomorrow morning!" Oscor kept complaining before being stopped.

"I found them all" Connor said.

"Found what?"

"The Blade Fragments… I found all of them!" Connor quickly reached to a small bag and handed it to Oscor in which he quickly grabbed and opened, his eyes shining.

"Haha!" He laughed before speaking. "You really did it!"

"Yes, but there's a change of plans!" Connor couldn't stay much longer in the camp just in case he was discovered, so meeting the Don was no longer on his list of things to do.

"What changed?" Oscor asked, confused.

"I offended Brog and I don't think staying here is safe for me anymore" Connor lied through his teeth, of course he would, killing Brog is something he would have to keep to himself until he was strong enough and using Brog as his reason was a good excuse that would buy him enough time when people think Brog went after him.

"That damn bastard is up to no good again!" Oscor groaned. "He's a menace to the camp, I don't understand why Rachel still didn't sell him out to the Don yet"

"His fighters might start trouble if he's gone" Connor continued. "Anyways, I'm going to need something of equal value, a sword.. An enchanted Sword"

"What? Are you crazy?" Oscor instantly reacted. "Even though the Fragments you brough will create a powerful weapon, but it is still not enchanted"

"Then i'll make up for the rest by gold or something" Connor remembered the piles and piles of Gold he found in Brog's Crystal and smiled internally.

"If that's the case then it's fair, but i'm no Mage and at most i'll only be able to give you an inscribed sword, as for their enchantments you'll either need to find a Mage yourself to do that for you or see if the Don's Mage will take care of it" Oscor explained.

"The Don has a Mage?" Connor asked.

"Yeah, someone he trained himself, an alchemist and an enchanter, but he's extremely arrogant and might not even consider enchanting the Sword for you"

"Gold doesn't work on him?"

"Gold is all he has in there, if you want the bastard to do it for you quickly then you'll need to have something he wants or interests him" Oscor remembered the annoying fellow and frowned. "He's hard to please though"

"That's a problem… I don't have anything to give"

"Hmmm… The Don owes me a favor and might convince the Mage for you, but now you'll have to convince me, the Don's favors are precious" Oscor quickly came up with an idea.

"What do you want?"

"Hmm… Brog has an Axe he got a long time ago from an old weaponsmith that resides in Harbor Town. I want the Axe or any weapon from the man, what do you think?"

"What's so special about them?" Connor asked.

"That old man's craftsmanship is special, I heard he learned his craft from the Dwarves back on the mainland and I wish to study it. That bastard Brog wouldn't even let me take a look at it and none of the boys in the town managed to get a weapon from the man since he only sells to the Town Guards"

"Alright!" Connor said, reached into his Inventory and threw Brog's Axe inside Oscor's house.

"What the hell boy!" Oscor assumed that Connor would go to Harbor Town and try to steal or somehow convince the man to sell him a weapon but he never imagined to see Brog's Axe in his inventory, how he got his hands on it? Oscor already put two and two together. "You crazy bastard!"

"I know.. So you'll do it?" Connor asked.

"Y… Yeah, I have a Sword ready in my collection, just need to get the mage to Enchant it, but barging in at this hour might get even me killed so come by tomorrow evening"

"Ok"

Connor nodded and walked away. Oscor looked at his back for a bit before walking inside and locking the door, staring at the Axe on the floor.

"You've finally offended a bigger fish, Brog!" Oscor sighed, said a quick prayer and lifted the Axe and stored it somewhere. If he wants to study it he would need to do it secretly or people will accuse him.

Connor was sitting near Oscor's house in the late evenings, waiting patiently for the man to come back. Rachel told him that Oscor started working on something in the early mornings and ran to the Don's cave with 2 Swords in his hands.

"He must have finished the Golden Sword and took my own… I wonder if he succeeded" Connor muttered.

"Haha! Of course I did!" Oscor appeared beside him with a wide smile, in his hands a Sword and a scabbard that contained it. "I present to you my greatest creation yet.. I haven't thought of a name though, how about you give it one? The enchantments that the bastard put on it are as follows..

Mending, which should be obvious enough, but that doesn't make it indestructible, just capable of repairing itself slowly when not being used.

Sharpness.. Exactly what you think, so be careful as you handle it.

Synchronization, which in my opinion is useless to you since you're not a Mage, but it allows the user to use the Sword as a conduit for their spells… like i said, useless, what a waste of an inscription spot

Anywats, that's all, now give it a name so I can imprint it on the handle"

'Mending seems useful, Sharpening is basic but ok and Synchronization is the most powerful of the two… No need to use Eldritch Blast from a distance, risking it being blocked or dodged, when I have the Sword now and all I would need is a scratch to transfer the Spell or just tactically use it and shoot it from the tip of the Sword in the middle of a fight… anyways, I might need to start planning a few moves but it's brilliant' Connor got lost in thought for a second before looking at Oscar, remembring the effects of the Eldritch Blast and said. "I will name it… Nightmare!"
