Chereads / Grimoire Level Up / Chapter 34 - Preparation (1)

Chapter 34 - Preparation (1)

Night fell and daylight was no more. Connor finally returned to the Camp with blood and sweat covering him. Hunting was fairly easy to him now but he couldn't just kill a few Stingrats or Wolves and expect a lot of SE to appear. What he needed to kill were monsters and other horrid Creatures, which he found plenty of around the Camp and even in the area outside.

SE was not the only thing Connor came back with as he now knew which Creatures to kill and which to run from. Which animals and beasts offered the most SE and which offered nearly nothing.

The Wolf offered 5 SE which was a lot more than the Stingrats that offered 1 SE each.

The Moth Creature had 15 SE, the Mud Monster offered 20 and the Devilworms gave 25 SE respectively.

Connor's massacre near the Camp and around it did not go unnoticed, but none cared. Dead Creatures meant less work so people ignored him with a smile.

Connor did not go to any unknown areas, especially when he couldn't even get close to the SE amount he needed. He even went and spoke with Kam and Doug about other spots but he was warned by both of them not to go too deep into the forest and as for Ruins, Connor wasn't that desperate yet. From what they said, the forest holds various kinds of beasts and other Ruin creatures that even the Monastery wouldn't dare face, let alone him. This made Connor curious but remembering the Creature he saw inside the cave Ruin as it was still vivid in his mind, making him agree with everything they said.

[2 520 SE]

Connor clicked his tongue. 'This isn't even close!' He thought with some anger. 'That damn book is asking for too damn much'

He thought so but was still happy that he got it. Finding the full Viper Sutra inside the Ruins and learning it by himself was not ideal at all.

As he stood in his own makeshift camp he remembered something. 'Why am I mostly focusing on this world?' He thought. 'Surviving and becoming stronger here is important but so is on earth' He remembered their current situation outside and the giant Variant Undead they needed to kill or the children Undead at the park.

Connor was more willing to fight the Giant Variant than the Undead Children, not out of sympathy but because they seemed to be more dangerous than the Giant.

The Children were faster than normal Undead and with their small build fighting a ground of them wouldn't be a walk in the park… literally.

All they needed was a simple bite, that's it, you lose.

'I use an Axe outside, should I learn some Axemanship? Would I have enough SE to reach a level that will allow me to fight the Variant? Even if it isn't enough, maybe I'll learn it after a few days of hunting, but finding more Creatures without entering some Ruins or going too far away from the camp will not be easy, especially after my killing just now' Connor thought, starting to contemplate.

He couldn't focus on the Sword since getting himself one on earth is nearly impossible, unless he finds some medieval store or something, which would be outside the hotel and very rare. 'I should have focused on the Axe instead of the Sword' Connor thought. 'I'm such an idiot!' If he had focused on Axe Skills and reached the same level as his Sword Skills right now he would have gone with the Axemanship plan, but that was no longer possible right now.

After some time passed he remembered something.. Something that might give him a fair chance at a fight with the Variant.. He was going to use the same thing to fight another Monster here, Brog.

"Magic!" Connor said out loud before smiling. "Grim, show me Magic Spells" He ordered and the transparent Grimoire appeared, opening its pages and showing Connor endless amounts of Spells, page after page of endless options.

[Fire Bolt: hurling a mote of fire at a creature or object within range, dealing Fire Damage and a Burn Effect that lasts for 5 seconds (Does not stack)]

[Mass Heal: A flood of healing energy flows from you into injured creatures around you. People healed by this spell are also cured of all diseases and any effect making them blinded or deafened]

Connor couldn't keep up as his excitement soared, but the feeling did not last along, specifically after reading the SE amount needed.

[100 000 SE]

[55 000 SE]

The SE amounts made him freeze in place, shock and horror on his face. 'What the fuck! How am I supposed to gather all of that?' Connor couldn't believe his eyes and quickly spoke. "Grim, show me the Spells that I can learn"

The Grimoire quickly moved and the contents changed, showing a blank page. Connor frowned and asked. "Where are the Spells?"

[Host Spirit Level is Null]

Connor quickly understood and demanded to increase his Stats. Grim obliged and showed him the 3 main Stats with the SE amount needed for each.

[Strength: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐] (600 SE)

[Dexterity: ⭐⭐] (300 SE)

[Spirit: ] (100 SE)

'Finally, some sane prices!' Connor sighed in relief and quickly upgraded his spirit by a Star. He didn't want to spend too much just yet, not until he saw the Spells and the amount needed for them. As his Spirit Stat increased, he felt an invigorating feeling, as if he had been asleep and woke up to the gentle touch of his mother. The world changed in his vision, colors became more prominent and he could see things with greater details, as if he finally healed his sight and could finally see clearly.

"This is incredible!" He took a deep breath relishing the moment.

[Spirit: ⭐]

"Grim, show me the Spells that I can learn" Connor commanded.

The Pages flipped and 10 Spells appeared in front of him. At the top of the page there was a title.

[1 Star Spells]
