Maths sat down quietly inside the swimming alley. His eyes on the swimming pool as he recalled the day his mother has drowned herself, he whimpered and sat erect on the chair trying to get the thought away from his head. But then, his reflections went back to the first day he met Angie. He could recollect how their eyes met not until she began to cough.
She has always been too strong bossed, thinking she could do all things even dating him. Now, he has showed his feelings to her when he kissed her at Brooklyn Bridge. How could he be so pathetic to have fallen for her? How could he stop? He wasn't doing the right thing.
Just then, he heard his name. Her voice echoed in his hear and he turned only to see her standing and waving at him.
"She's the one." he thought peering so much at her. She was lovely and pretty but he has never noticed. He veered his face away from hers, waiting for her to come close.
On getting to him, Angie greeted. "Good afternoon."
He lifted his face to her and mumbled. "How're you?"
Angie gave him a warming smile as she took her seat beside him, pulling off her backpack. "I'm good now since I've found you."
He was expecting that answer from her but he kept his cool. Why was she searching for him? It's not like he's lost.
"Why are you out here alone." she inquired.
"You have no idea, I come here often." he replied and relaxed his head on his seat.
"Why?"
"For some reasons."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No."
Angie noticed his facial expression and had no idea why he was looking so unusual. Then, she decided to cheer him up.
"Do you remember the first time we met? Over there." she paused and pointed her her finger at the other side of the alley. "There you saved me from drowning."
Though he has walked out, leaving her to herself until he decided not to be remorseful. He wondered what could have happened that day if he didn't put on fast. He used his side eye to steal her a glance. She was still having smiles on her face watching the pool.
She turned to him and held his hand in amusement. At first, he wanted to resist but the urge to feel her touch stopped him.
"Maths, I think we're destined to meet." she reviewed, still holding unto him. "You saved me that day even though I know it was a great decision to make. I'll forever be grateful."
Slowly, he drew out his hand from hers, folding them under his chest.
Angie knew that he was being shy since he was innocent, loving her, that's if he actually did.
"You know, when I was at California, I never took swimming as something I could compete on. Now, its feels so incredible that I could do things I'd never believe my self to do. I was just a random girl, happy that I just had to go to school and return home not knowing I was missing out." she let out. "Although, I missed California, but I find New York more enticing. I've been opened up to the world."
"Why did you come to New York?" he raised a question.
Of course, she was wishing he'll ask which he eventually did. She stood up from her seat and yawned happily.
"My dad was recruited," she responded.
She turned to him. "Looks like you're a great swimmer, if you don't mind teaching me how to swim."
Maths smirked. What she just asking him to swim with her? That's ridiculous. Why the hell is he going to swim with her? He stood up shortly as he made his way out of the swimming alley back to his car. Angie ran after him.
"Would you please stop and listen to me?" she yelled at him which he did stop.
"Take me home, would you?"
"Not today," he mumbled.
"Just a few ride please." she pleaded to show off her puppy look.
Maths whined. "You get what you want each time." He got into his car and Angie entered the front seat beside him.
Angie searched on google Map for her house to help him with the directions.
The drive was smooth as Angie kept talking about California. Not long after, they finally arrived at their location.
"I, Uhm... Will appreciate it if we can stop being hostile and show our inner feelings to each other. I don't like the fact that you still aren't free with me." Angie declared.
"I'm just being myself, you don't have to worry about me." he retorted.
"Yes I do. Mathias, why don't you want to give in when you really wanna do it?" She asked displeased.
He bit his lower lip and responded. "Look here Angela, I'm Matthias and not anyone, I have my rules."
She leaned forward and took his face into her hands, holding unto it she proclaimed warmly. "You have to start trusting me now, Mathias."
Then she pecked him on his lip and withdrew from him not after a wink. "Thanks for the ride and see you tomorrow." she delivered, opening the door to step out.
She waved as his car screened away before finding her way inside her own house.
