"Sister!" Shed called Kate who was brisk with her cosmetics. She was going to see her friends at a beach party which made her so elated and had to make herself look good for her awaiting friend.
Shed didn't receive a response and nabbed into her room.
"Shed." She called solemnly. "Don't you dare scream my name that loud again!" she yelled turning back to glance at him before returning to her dressing mirror.
"I didn't mean to upset you..."
"No you don't!" she snapped, already getting tensed. She pulled up the zip of her royal blue jeans and smiled at herself in the mirror. She was looking as perfect as ever.
"I'm sorry." Shed whispered moving closer to her.
"What do you want?" She asked ignoring his pleas.
"Can I go with you?" He asked, politely.
"Why? I thought you hated parties." Kate poked fun at him, moving away from her dressing table to her bed. She took her phone and diamond jewellery to put on.
"That was before I knew the house is so boring." Shed complained and sat comfortably on her bed.
"I can remember you were a bookworm." She teased him again.
"Davis and Maths already spoilt that."
Kate couldn't help but laugh. She cracked up intentionally so he could feel sore.
"I was not a bookworm though, you know all I ever have to do is stay home. I had no choice but to read."
Kate has already stopped laughing but was bringing out light chuckles on her countenance.
"I would love to show off my little cute thing too." She concluded, pinching him softly on both cheeks.
"Really?! I should come with you?"
"I might change my mind soon." She said and chuckled at the way he pushed passed her, racing to his room.
About thirty minutes later, they were already at the beach party. The beach was looking lit and fantastic with how it was designed with coloured glimmer. Everywhere was looking so lived and Shed loved the sight.
Some set of crew, relaxing inside a small shack shrieked when they saw Kate. They were her high school friends before she left for China.
"Nî hâo (Hello)!" She greeted happily and ran to meet one of her best. Jeremy received the hug, carrying her up until she wrapped her legs over his waist.
"You can never change, Jeremy," she told him. He smirked and lowered her gently back to her stand.
"Nîmen zài zuò (How are you guys doing)?" she asked, giving each of them a hug.
"Now we have a china lady in our midst." Someone teased. She smiled and went to him.
"Of course you do." She told him and received him into a hug.
After hugging and greeting all of them, she took her seat beside Jeremy and pointed to another vacant seat for Shed to sit.
"Who is he?" Jeremy asked as they got engrossed in chitchat.
She looked up at him and smiled, "My little brother." She looked towards Shed who was looking more comfortable chatting with a girl than when he arrived.
"He's cuter," Jeremy admitted.
Kate frowned at him and mumbled. "I know because he's my brother."
Jeremy laughed and pulled her to his side, nipping her right cheek softly while she grinned.
Meanwhile, Thomas stood from a distance watching Kate. His master, Xyle has instructed him to watch over her. She has not come out of her house ever since she came back from China until now when she needed to meet her pals.
Thomas fumed in anger watching the closeness of her and Jeremy. They were too close for his liking.
But there was nothing he could do to suppress his anger. He has always adored her, right since they were in high school. She was one of the best students in school at that period and he was a badass, there was no way he could approach her, knowing how she goes in rebuffing people that aren't her status.
Yet, he watched. He was beginning to think of how he was going to take up his master's assignment. He could do his best to keep her out of the trouble that was starting to rise but he needed her attention. He wants her to see how much he has loved her and wished for togetherness.
He hadn't been happy these days either. His master has stepped down from Coyote. It was on purpose though, but he wasn't okay with the fact that his master told him to stay behind. He didn't want to participate in whatsoever thing Coyote want to get themselves involved in. He knew very well how much his brother wants to destroy DEF and the president.
They were still on the mission of finding the fund documents and his brother was already going to an extent to get lives involved. Yet, Kendy was in his custody going through hell, carrying a baby.
He had no idea what was going through his brother's mind but he knew Duke was up to no good.
It was fair and it was not fair to see himself getting vulnerable all of a sudden. He wasn't like that, nothing ever bothered him. He wished everything would turn out to be what he anticipated.
He would see his father and would plead with his father to talk things over with Duke. Anything it takes he would halt any mess coming to innocent people.
He was still watching Kate until she came out of the shack holding a bottle of champagne with her. She wasn't drunk but he knew she might get herself intoxicated since she was looking so happy and joyous.
Truth to him, she became drunk after a while of sitting on a mat by the beach side, talking to her best friend and glimpsing at the sea.
Thomas decided to make his move and went ahead to her.
Jeremy was gone when he got to her and he was happy about it so, he could have a better chat with her.
"Can I take a seat?" Thomas implored.
She took her head up to him since he was standing and she was sitting. She stared at him for a while before nodding her head in agreement.
Thomas immediately sat beside her. He was sure she was trying to recall where they'd once met.
"I'm not attracted to you, so don't think about going too far." She let out trying to sound arrogant and drank from her champagne.
Thomas giggled, getting her attention once again. She was drunk, he knew that for sure. But then, he knew she could have said worst of that if she was herself.
"I like you," he confessed to her, staring his eyes sternly into hers. They both glare at each other before she cracked up.
"I'm serious."
"I'm laughing because your countenance said so." She told him and gulped down again from her champagne.
"Yes, I am and I'm happy you knew it soon enough," he said still maintaining his serious looks.
She let out a sigh and smiled at him. "I have a feeling we've met before."
"Yes, we have, at the airport," Thomas admitted.
"Right," she said pretending to remember.
"You'll recognize me once you see me tomorrow."
"I already did."
Thomas shook his head at her. "No, you don't. If you did recognize me then you should have sent me off."
Kate giggled till she got a drop of water from her eyes. "You got me right."
"Can we meet again hereafter so you can know me better?" He asked, his gaze not leaving her.
"Do you want me to send you off?"
"It'll be generous if you can recognize me and send me away."
She shook her head and chuckled again. Then, they exchanged contacts.
