Chapter 29 - CONEY ISLAND

As soon as she entered her bedroom, her cell phone started to ring. She went over to her dress desk to pick it up. She looked at the screen for the caller's name. She smiled when she saw it was Nancy. Without hesitating, she picked up the call.

"Hello Nancy," she greeted and started arranging her clothes on the bed.

"Hello, baby girl! How're you doing today?"

"I'm perfect, what about you?"

"I'm great," she replied and chuckled. "I have great news for you."

"Really?" Angie asked as she carried her clothes walking to the draw to arrange them.

"Yeah but you have to give it a guess," Nancy said.

"I'm not good at guessing, Nancy," she pouted.

"Give it a try, angel."

"Hmm," she hummed, pretending to think.

"So?"

Angie heaved deeply and uttered," Nothing to think of."

Nancy burst into laughter. "Even if you are very good at guessing, you can't come up with this."

"I know, so can you please burst the ball, don't keep me in suspense."

"Alright, alright this is it, you've been given a golden chance to explore your singing skills," Nancy relayed.

"Can you come again? I don't understand," Angie beckons, not grasping what Nancy meant.

"Oh yeah! you won't understand until you move over to your wardrobe, choose something beautiful to wear and get your ass down to my house," Nancy commanded.

"But_"

"No buts, now be quick, Bye!"

Click. The call ended even before Angie could say a word. Angie heaved a sign of worry. She looked up at her wall clock for the time and it was already twenty-one minutes past four. She just got back from school and is about to prepare for her evening training. Now Nancy had called her to come over.

She didn't even give her space to speak nor did she tell her what she was called for. "A golden opportunity," she thought, "What is Nancy up to this time?"

Anyway, she will get to know when she gets there. After a couple of minutes, she was done dressing. She walked to her mirror to pack her hair into a ponytail. She looked at her reflection inside the mirror displaying the pair of blue Jean trousers and a plain white top to match. Satisfied with what she was seeing, she picked up her cell phone and her car keys before striding out of her room.

Nancy was already waiting for her outside her house when she got there. She was also dressed up in a pair of jean trousers but with a royal blue top, and hoodie to match. She came closer and signalled Angie to whine down her glass, which she did.

"We are going somewhere far from here," she announced.

"Where to?" Angie asked, a little bit surprised since she was expecting their meeting to be at her house.

"Coney Island,"

"Coney Island?!" Angie gasped.

"Yup," she muttered, opening the front door to take her seat.

"But I've never been there before and don't know the root."

"Why must you always put buts in your words, girl you can use Google Maps, stop complaining."

"Why don't you drive and I'll be the passenger," Angie suggested and she gave me a hard look.

"Start the car now," Nancy commanded, jokingly.

"We're gonna get lost today," Angie admitted, giving her a side smirk which she returned with a tap on my hand.

"Ouch!"

"You deserve it, now start." She laughed as Angie ignited the key to the car.

"Here we go," Nancy muttered and played a rookie song from her phone. "What are we going to do at Coney Island?".

"You'll get to know when we arrive there," she replied and continued humming to the music being played. Angie looked at her and shook my head, she's such a queer girl. Ever since she got to New York, she has been the one making her stay.

The little time she spent with her was amazing and interesting and she had never once regretted coming to New York thanks to her. She's just an intelligent girl with a cute attitude.

They spend up to thirty minutes before getting to Coney Island. Angie became. puzzled when Nancy told her we are attending a club.

"There's a lot of clubs in Brooklyn, why do you insist we come here?" Angie asked curiously.

"Do not question me again, Angel, just go on."

"Got it ma," she said and focused on driving.

The event's car park was filled with different types of cars. Not just cars though, but expensive cars. Even the song from the outside speaker was loud enough to block one ear but then, the view seemed nice.

One of the security guards directed me to a spare space where she can park my car. They finished packing and Nancy handed me a nose mask to use. When she asked why she gave it to me, she said she didn't want to be recognized. We got down together and I clicked on the button of my key to lock the car doors. Then she led the way into the club. Everywhere was already filled with crowds when we got in, to the extent that there was nowhere to get through.

Suddenly a girl dressed in all black with high heels making her look taller came towards them and bowed her head, greeting them. Nancy answered while Angie watched the hero talk before she led us.  towards another route. Private was written on top of the door we entered into. The securities scan through us before letting us in. We strive in and I scan through the place. It looks more fascinating than the one we passed through. Just then I sighted a group of people who looked familiar but their faces weren't clear enough until we got to them.

I stood, puzzled.
