|Flashback|
The presentations were going all smoothly and frenetically. Shed fans also joined them in singing the lovely song. Still, Angie couldn't believe she was singing with one of the best musicians in Brooklyn. It was like a dream come true. She decided to take hold of the opportunity and use it well. So, she sang heartily to the rhythm of the song.
Maths' gaze was all over her, he watched as she sang his song beautifully. Her voice was marvellous and intoxicating. He continued to watch her as he got himself drunk. Alas! The presentation ended. Both Shed and Angie were so excited with the way they'd presented the song. Angie even though she was on top of the world.
They were interviewed afterwards since Shed fans needed to know who the new girl that sang gracefully with him was. They made sure she told them all about herself. Nevertheless, they got to know that she was not a citizen of the US but California.
Dennis on the other hand also drank to his fullest but he didn't sit down just like Maths did. He went on flirting with other girls making Nancy jealous. Though she loved him, there was nothing she could do to stop him. Again, she doesn't think he even has a soft spot for her.
He only sees her as a little sister and his best friend. But, at that moment, she thought of giving up her love for him before he hurt her more.
"If only I could stop him from going to those bitchs. If only I could go drag him away so he doesn't get intimidated by them," she thought helplessly.
After they were interviewed, Angie and Shed went back to their seats and joined the others. As they got back, Shed noticed that Maths was already drunk while Angie tried talking to Nancy but her mind was too occupied to listen to her. She just nodded to whatever Angie was saying. Angie immediately knew what was happening to her. She told Shed about it but he just shrugged that there was nothing he could do.
After some while, Angie noticed that Maths has been staring at her for some time now. She then looked up and their eyes met again. Immediately, she let out a cough and whispered to Shed that she needed to use the toilet.
She rushed out since he was still staring at her. "Holy!" she exclaimed, silently and immediately closed the female toilet door which the lady from the other time, directed her to.
"What is wrong with him?" she thought aloud and searched herself inside the mirror placed on the wall in front of the washing hand basin. She examined her face if she got something embarrassing that could make him stare so hard at her yet, she found nothing.
"Should I confront him and ask the reason for his stares?" she asked herself in the mirror.
"Yes, that is what I will do, I will go to him and ask why he has been staring so much at me, did he hate me that much?"
After practising all the questions she was going to ask him, she arranged her dress properly and walked out of the toilet. To her utmost surprise, she saw him entering the male toilet and decided to wait for him to come out before approaching him. It was like he used ages inside the toilet because she was impatient.
As soon as he came out, she rushed to him and blocked his way from moving. Maths, in his drunken state, stood surprised at what he saw. He watched her for some seconds, decided to ignore her and tried moving past her but she wouldn't give passage for him.
"Why were you staring at me? Is there something wrong with me that you don't want to tell? Or maybe I didn't present the song well, tell me so I can correct myself," Angie questioned him, boldly.
He stood still, surprised by the words he just heard. He couldn't believe his ears.
"Is something wrong?" he thought, "Are all the questions for me?"
He watched as she raised her eyebrow waiting for the answers but couldn't provide one since he was not expecting such questions. "She's cute," he thought again as he strained his eyes to admire her beauty.
But then, Angie was already feeling awkward with the whole situation as he kept staring at her and decided to give passage for him since he wasn't providing her with any answer. Maybe he was already tense with her questions.
She huffed away as she turned to go but he dragged her surprisingly by the hand and pushed her against the wall making her back rest on it.
Angie let out a gasp. "What has she done? Why is this happening?" she thought as Maths tightened his grip on her hands.
He moved his face closer to her until she could feel his breath hard on her skin. With so much pressure, she struggled with him but it wasn't working. The next thing she thought of doing was calling out for help but as she tried parting her mouth to speak, his lip was already on hers.
At first, she was shocked and couldn't do anything as he kissed her slowly but on second thought, she became alarmed and started to struggle with him.
Yet, Maths wasn't ready to stop so he continued to kiss her aggressively. He kissed her hungrily as if he could swallow her up.
Upset with the way he kissed her, Angie bit his lip, pushed him away from her and landed a slap on his face.
"You brat!" she cursed, "Are you insane?!"
After calming herself for a few seconds she continued, "What is wrong with you?"
Maths watched her and held his face which had already turned red from the slap.
Her loud voice made the pretty attendant come running in. "Are you okay, ma?" the attendee asked.
"Ask him that question!" Angie snapped, angrily.
The lady turned, looked at Maths and immediately knew something was up as he just held his face looking all smug.
She sensed he didn't know what was happening because he was already drunk.
"He's drunk ma," the attendee tried to explain.
"Of course, he is," Angie replied, her right hand covering her mouth.
After much consolation from the attendant to forgive him, Angie gave him a long stern look filled with anger and hatred before storming away.
Meanwhile, Nancy was already getting tensed that she wished someone could get her out of the club. She couldn't afford to watch Dennis move over to one girl and the other, either kissing or romancing them. It made her sick, all she wanted at the moment was to go home but she remembered Angie had gone out to use the toilet.
"Can we go home please?" Angie asked Nancy, breaking off her thoughts.
"Of course, I've been expecting you," Nancy replied, gracefully.
Shed looked at them confused. "Don't tell me you're leaving, I thought you'd leave by dawn," he asked.
"We changed our mind," Nancy answered.
"And you too, Angela?" he asked and faced her.
"Yeah, I'm not used to places like this," Angie confessed.
"Oh!" he mouthed, "I think I should call others so we can_"
"No!" Nancy cut him short, "Don't spoil their fun,"
"Yeah please don't," Angie also agreed.
"Okay, but will you be okay all by yourselves? It's past ten."
"Yeah, we will, don't hesitate to tell them we've left."
"Okay, alright, bye," Shed greeted as he watched them move out.
"Bye," they both uttered.
"Are you guys leaving?" Dennis called as they were about to get out of the Private room. He was looking haggard in his drunken state.
Nancy couldn't take it so she turned away.
"They don't like it here," Shed answered on their behalf.
"It's fun, can't you see?" Dennis protested, spreading his hands to show them he was enjoying himself.
"We'll take our leave," Nancy said to Shed, ignoring him.
"Are you leaving me alone, baby Nancy?" Dennis asked, playfully.
Suddenly, Nancy turned to him and gave out a small cute laugh. Then she mumbled, "You wish, I thought you can't see me since you are with your chicks,"
"I can baby girl," Dennis muttered, trotting towards her and trying to touch her but she was quick to move away.
Just then, one of the girls he has been flirting with came and hugged him from behind. "Honey, let's get a room," the girl whispered enough for them to hear her. The word made Nancy scoff.
"What are you doing, Angie? C'mon let's go," she beckoned to Angie and started.
This time, Dennis caught her by her hand, "Don't leave me please."
"Get your hands off me," Nancy busted angrily and tried to remove his hand from hers.
"I'll do that if you decide to stay here with me."
Both Angie and Shed watched carefully. They had no idea whether to interfere or leave them to themselves.
"Leave her alone honey, she doesn't need you, I'm here for you," the other girl said and bit her lip seductively. This time it was Angie who got angry. She knew very well that her friend was in love with Dennis and had spent all her life wanting him. She looked at Shed and urged him to do something.
Shed also had no idea of what to do but he acted immediately. "Get your hands off her," he commanded. With that, he dragged Nancy's hand away from Dennis.
"Stay clear of this man!" Dennis warned his friend harshly.
"You stay clear away from her until you are in your right senses," Shed also warned and turned to face Angie. "Please, take her out, Angela."
Slowly, Angie walked Nancy out of the club back to the parking lot and tried consoling her as Nancy was already in tears.
"Why not me?" Nancy asked Angie, who led her to sit inside the car.
"It's okay, don't pressure yourself, he's not in his right senses," Angie whispered.
Nancy kept pouring out more tears even when Angie continued to calm her down. "Even in his right senses, he has never once noticed me, am I so different from those girls?"
"You are way better than them."
"Did he also think so?"
"He will, one day."
"Or should I stop loving him?"
"No please you can't," Angie answered perturbed.
"Then when will my waiting end?"
"You just have to be patient."
"Am I not patient enough? It's been ten years."
"Oh! Nancy," Angie bellowed and patted her back. "That's why you mustn't lose hope."
After some while, Nancy dried up her tears. "I will drive," she proposed and stretched her hands for the car key.
"You can't, I will," Angie refused, surprised.
"When I drive, it takes away what's bothering me from my mind, so please let me drive," she pleaded.
"I resist," Angie said and ignited the key to the car.
"Please or I'll have to keep crying."
"Please let me drive," Angie pleaded.
"You won't be able to drive if I continue to cry."
"Fine, fine, I give up."
"Very good."
They both laughed at each other and exchanged their seats.
"Let's go home!" Nancy shouted as she reversed the car.
"Yes, let's go!" Angie shouted back then paused.
"Hold on, you mean your house?" she asked Nancy who had a broad smile on her face.
"Yes," Nancy answered, nodding her head.
"I did not inform my dad about it."
"Do it now."
As Nancy was about to drive out, she saw a staggering image that looked like Maths. She stopped the car immediately and came out. Angie who was on call also came down and followed Nancy behind. Moving closer, they discovered it was Maths.
"Are you okay?" Nancy asked as they got to him, "Where are you going?"
He didn't answer and continued to stagger away.
"What's wrong with him?" Angie whispered, feeling goosebumps all over her skin as she remembered the event earlier.
"He's also drunk, let's follow him till he gets to where he's going," Nancy replied.
They followed him and discovered he was moving to his car. Nancy rushed to him.
"I'll call Shed," she said and held the front door to prevent him from going in. He looked at her and didn't say anything while Nancy brought out her phone and dialled Shed's number. He picked up a single ring.
"Hello_" she was about to say when Maths dragged the phone away from her.
"I'll be okay by myself," he muttered and cut the call before handing it back to her. He removed her hand from the car door and entered. In a few seconds, he was out of the Blues club. The two watched his car depart and went back to theirs.
"Do you think he will be fine all by himself?" Angie asked as they drove home.
"He will, though he's drunk, he can still do things properly," Nancy answered.
End of flashback|
Angie touched her lip, remembering how Maths had stolen a kiss from her. "He took my first kiss," she whispered before drifting to sleep.
