The afternoon sun rays slowly crept into the room. The light reflected on Vin as he slept peacefully, before someone banged on the door.
"Wake up sleepyhead! Are you going to sleep all day long!" It was Eden's voice, and it sounded annoyed.
Slowly opening his eyes, Vin sluggishly walked towards the door, yawning all the way.
Before he could push the door open, Eden's voice made the sleep in his head disappear with just four words.
"You missed a class!"
"What?!"
"You missed a class sleepyhead! Don't you know! You missed combat class you moron!"
Vin's eyes blinked as his brain processed all the words over and over again, "WHAT?!"
"And I can't believe you actually sleep with that hood on!" Eden said, noticing how the hood remained on his head.
"........" Vin remained speechless, then, he slammed the door in Eden's face, rushing to clean up and get ready for the day. Friday.
"Don't waste any time in-"
Vin suddenly pushed the door open, giving Eden a slight smile.
"How on earth did you get clean within two seconds?"
"There is no time Eden, we need to get to the next class…" Vin ran down the hallway saying this.
"We don't have class now, it's sport! Did you even read the timetable?"
"Timetable?" Vin stopped, wanting to listen. "Where are we supposed to read it?"
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Frustrated, Eden pulled him down the stairs, then out the building.
The sun was not so high, but its rays made Vin adjust his hood, so as not to be scorched.
"Vin, finally, you decided to show you, uh?" Akio held a bow and arrow, with a smile not leaving his face.
"Mr Akio, I'm so sorry, I slept into the day-"
"I don't want to hear any complaints and I hate to see you in a sorry state!" Although wearing a smile, Vin could see through that he was annoyed to the peak.
"Eh?"
"Take this!" Akio handed him a bow and arrow, "Aim for the apple there."
The entire class couldn't believe the task Vin was to accomplish.
The target, a red apple, was more than four good miles away from where he stood.
Seeing this, the other ranks stopped their own activity, watching as Vin looked at Akio.
"That's too far! I'm not so good at shooting arrows!" He complained.
"Well, you should have thought about that before waking up late. You must or else face a penalty." Akio told him, walking out of the way.
Snow happened to be passing by Rank A's class president on a path way when he saw what was going on.
Stopping by to watch how it would end, he stood with hopes up.
"Don't worry, you can do it!" Eden encouraged his friend with a smile.
"I don't think he would be able to do that. It's way too far, especially for a D-rank mage who can't cast a stable spell" Some B-ranked students mocked, making Vin frown.
"Get over with this, I have lots of lessons to teach!" Akio smiled dangerously.
"Fine-"
"And you must hit the apple, okay?" Akio again reminded Vin who gave him a cold glare, before quickly changing it into a sweet smile.
'Strange, this boy is totally different from the rest'
Vin stepped forward, holding onto his bow and just one arrow, an arrow which would decide whether or not he wins.
______
"Deep breaths!" Eden screamed from the crowd.
'Will he win? I don't know, but I have to encourage him no matter what'
Vin read Eden's mind immediately. He knew there was someone who actually cares about his wins and failures in the school.
[I could have just failed and made everyone's expectation go down to zero, but I have a plan on getting the book in Rank A, so I can't get a penalty which would reduce more than 200 pts. I haven't gotten more than 300 yet. I hate Zenphek!.]
Vin took in a deep breath as Eden told him to. His eyes closed and mind kicked away every single voice from the surrounding.
His legs on the ground and hands firmly on the bow and arrow.
Channeling his power into an ordinary arrow, Vin's improved eyesight zoomed towards the apple which was placed perfectly still.
Dragging the arrow, the skies became gloomy and lightning sparked through the clouds.
The air became tight and a wind rushed through the arrow's tip.
Akio's eyes went wide open as he could not believe how someone would channel such an amount of power into an object.
He released the arrow.
'WHOOSH'
A gust of wind, accompanied by a burst of lightning from the flying arrow broke the ground and ripped open the earth.
It flew with an energy anyone would call supernatural.
Then, instead of hitting the apple, it passed through the fruit, scattering the particles around.
"Kaboom!" Sebastian smiled from the castle as he felt his master's power.
The other students who witnessed this had their jaws dropped, they had never seen anything like this in their lives.
The arrow didn't stop, it continued, destroying everything in its path.
Akio took hold of the arrow with his magic which made the mark on his head glow blue.
"Ahhhhh!" He controlled the arrow with might, before it could destroy the castle.
Redirecting the arrow to the sky, Akio used an amount of strength he never imagined he would for today.
The arrow went up straight, creating blasts of lightning and thunder rumbling.
Finally, the skies went back to its original light, the sun slowly coming out and its light reflecting.
Vin let out a breath which had an inaudible simmering sound, before looking at the entire crowd whose jaws were dropped.
Akio also had his expression of shock, he never knew Vin would do such.
'In my entire life, I haven't seen any ranked student perform such…such…such…'
Akio's mind couldn't choose a single word to express what he just saw.
Snow as well as the Rank A's class president had their eyes wide open.
"Elucus!"
"Yes Mister Snow"
"Give Vin, Eden and Ivan a rank A mission today."
"Yes Mister Snow!"
'I am intrigued by this boy, Vin.'
