Chapter 7 - The Council [1]

"YOU'RE LATE!"

Vin sighed softly as he heard the teacher say this word continuously. Before walking to an empty seat beside the window, at the extreme end, he apologized earnestly and quietly.

"We are training heroes not late comers. See me after class!" The teacher instructed.

"Sure!."

Without looking back at the woman, Vin lazily sat down.

"As I was saying," she quickly pulled a lovely face, "I'm the teacher assigned to class

D, rank F. Breaking all I've said down, I'll be the one to score you in the hopes of you moving higher into Rank E and lastly, rank A!"

Murmurs raised to the ceiling as the students couldn't help but gossip concerning their class mistress appearance and attitude and the words she had just said.

"Anyways," the woman continued as the voices died down, "I'm Mrs Carolyn and your introduction would be essential."

With a smile on her face, she stepped aside, wanting the students to address themselves.

With just six in the class, their introductions were fast and smooth.

"Okay, the late comer-" Carolyn said, directing her words to Vin whose eyes were locked outside.

"Hey! Are you listening?!" She screamed at him, but no response.

He was hypnotized by the surroundings and his plans were arranged.

"I hate students who behave like knuckleheads," Spinning her index finger in the air, Carolyn created a wide huge water drop which seemed to be kept in place by a force or so. "This will wake you up"

Directing it towards Vin, she released the water.

'SLASH'

"T-"

Carolyn was left speechless when Vin snapped his fingers, changing the water into snowflakes.

"I'm sorry Mrs Carolyn, but I got lost in my thoughts" Casually speaking, he made the snowflakes into seeds which flew out of the window, leaving not a trace behind. "My name is Vin Sweden, and I'm seventeen years old."

The class went silent as he introduced himself not knowing the trees had grown into tall oaks.

Carolyn frowned her face, adjusting her glasses on her youthful face.

This boy is beyond an F-rank. He wielded his magic and deflected mine without any help. Something a B-rank would try hard to perform. Three simultaneous magic at once. Snowflakes, seed formation and tree growth.

Carolyn thought with her eyes on him, "You really are good with holding your own magic. Actually an F-rank would be to learn the basics and you pulled out three without any training."

"Actually Mrs Carolyn, my grandfather trained me before I got admitted into this school. He was a skilled Wizard and highly powerful" Vin lied smoothly.

"Even so, I'll report this to the council!" She declared that before Vin's face had grown long.

[What's wrong with me? I don't want to be watched and monitored by top people. This is bad, especially if I'm exposed as Dravil.]

"We will commence our training," Turning to Vin, Carolyn said, "The council will see you after class!"

"Wait What?!" Vin screamed at the woman.

"Don't worry, they don't bite. Just a few questions and some answers, then you're good to go!" She assured him.

"Whoa dude! The council wants to see you on your first day, Solid!" A boy to his right said.

"Easy for you to say, because you aren't a Demon lord who literally eats souls of humans for breakfast" Vin muttered with a sad face.

Throughout, the main teaching was to harness your inner energy and nothing else.

It was then Vin knew instantly why rank F is the lowest. Almost everyone who is admitted can't even know their hidden power.

The entire system is just like from Kindergarten to College.

"I messed up badly!" Those were Vin's words through the time.

_______

"Vin!" Carolyn called immediately and the class was over.

"Yes?"

"I would like to accompany you to the council, they are waiting."

"But Mrs Carolyn, why did you inform them concerning me?" He asked the red haired woman who slowly walked towards him with arms akimbo.

"When I see an exceptional student who is stronger than the rest and in class D, rank F, I would inform the council," Raising a brow, she asked him, "Why aren't you happy? The council may choose to move you into class D or C-"

"I just don't want anyone to notice my existence. I want to get into a certain rank which would allow me to get my hands on the Royal Library, that's all." Vin spat the words at her.

"Oh, my bad! I never knew you had such devilish made-up plans"

"WHAT?!"

"I know you are just afraid and that is all. The council won't hurt you, they are good powerful men without hard feelings or anything controversial. So, stay calm!" Again, her words of assurance couldn't smooth the anxiety in his heart.

"Fine, I'll go." Invoking all the courage in his heart, Vin stepped out from his seat, as he could see a smile on Mrs Carolyn's face.

"I hate this!."

*****

After walking down the quiet hall, Mrs Carolyn paused upon reaching a door.

"Vin," she said, "Be careful of what you say in the council's room, okay?"

"Yes"

"VIN!," She called sharply again, "some of the council members are doubting and would put your skills to test, so don't mess this up."

"I don't know why you are so sharp about this, but rest assured, I won't destroy any hope!"

"Say what?"

Before Carolyn could understand what he said, Vin stepped into the room, shutting the door behind.

_

Upon entering the room, pin silence greeted him with darkness which he could feel embracing his soul.

Before a word could leave his lip or any thought formed, a light shone directly on him and others as well.

Then, he could see each and every member of the council.

Numbering seven, he could feel an overwhelming aura emitting from each and every member.

Five men and two women, with only two men he recognized.

[Mr Snow and Akio.] He thought with an irritated face, caused by the body he possesses.

"I'm happy you can recognize two of the top members, Mister Vin," An old man who sat in the middle said.

[So this old man can read minds?]

"Don't Underestimate my mind reading ability Vin!" The man warned.

"I'm Sorry for that" Vin smiled, blocking half of his mind from the man for some private thoughts.

[This will be so interesting!.]
