Shi Anjing soon came in with a tray full of light foods and fruits.
Wen Yu wasn't really hungry as he was injected with nutrient solution while in the healing pod but he ate the porridge anyways.
The rest all looked at him as he slowly ate and he had the urge to flip the tray in their faces. Did they not know how uncomfortable it was to eat whilst they ogled at him?
He soon finished and there was a collective sigh as they all released their breaths.
Wen Yu: '...' Why did they act like he was dying?
Wen Lin handed him a glass of milk and he smiled widely at her. She knew him too well ah.
He sipped on his milk as he found out how he ended up in here from their lips.
They were all in the virtual space when Wen Yu's illness flared up, so they had no choice but to sneak him out of the training hall and bring him here.
It was the Academy's old infirmary. A new one was built three years ago so the cadets never visited this one. Although it was closed off with no staff, it still contained some equipment that could be activated with spirit energy.
No one asked how and why Shi Anjing was so familiar with the workings of this old infirmary. With the way the other seniors treated him, they were sure he was a frequent visitor here.
Wen Yu was glad they didn't ask about his illness or even try to notify the teachers. It would've been troublesome trying to explain his illness. They might even send him off directly without waiting for a year.
Soon enough, they all snuck out of the infirmary. The attendant boy directly ditched them and walked off to the training hall.
Shi Anjing stared at them wide eyed for a while before leaving too.
The rest just looked at each other before looking back at Wen Yu.
Fu Beiyong spoke up, "Since the rest of us are probably not in the mood for training, why don't we take a stroll around and tour the Academy?"
Wen Yu shook his head gently. "You guys go ahead. I'll be going to the library."
Since it was possible he may never be able to advance in this lifetime, he might as well put all his focus on scoring really high in the first two assessments and depend on his future teammates to pass the third.
Shameless as that was, he was really past the point of caring. Anything that would get him to his goal was good enough as long as he didn't harm anyone.
Huo Lan jumped. "Oh can I come? I've been itching to check out the Academy library."
Wen Yu shrugged. Fu Beiyong looked to Qi San, who humphed.
"I'll also go to the library." He looked to Wen Yu. "This has nothing to do with you. I was already thinking about going there anyways, you just said it first."
"Suit yourselves, " Fu Beiyong waved his little arm and strode away.
Wen Lin also patted Wen Yu's arms before leaving. She shared a senior with one other girl and had taken permission to leave when Huo Lan came to get her but she didn't want to get into trouble for staying out too long.
Huo Lan was back to being happy again and skipped in front while Wen Yu slowed down to walk besides Qi San.
He'd given it a lot of thought and realized that judging Qi San's character based on a person who had a similar name was very unfair.
He was in a different universe now and constantly holding on to his past would only bring him down. It might even lead to a situation in the future where he couldn't advance at all due to unreconciled feelings
He already had difficulty advancing now, why make things harder by digging a pit for himself and wringing his heart knot tighter with his past?
His attitude to the kid the first time they met was too detestable. To him it might have been a one time thing but he'd noticed how Qi San became conscious of introducing himself to people.
He was really too rash. He'd been a young master in his former world and hardly cared about the feelings of other people when he did anything.
But in this world, he'd slowly come to learn that such a character was an enemy attracting magnet. Now when he saw kids with the young master syndrome, he cringed as he thought of how he used to be exactly like that.
Not only that, a commoner kid who had managed to qualify for pre-enrollment at Lingxiu through the preliminaries was definitely someone with potential and would soar high in the future. One more acquaintance was one less enemy after all.
The Qi San in this world had also done nothing bad to him and he had decided to treat people the way they treated him and not the way their namesakes did.
Qi San stopped and stared at him in suspicion. "What? Why are you walking next to me like that? Aren't you afraid my fat germs would rub off on you?"
Fat germs? Wen Yu groaned inwardly. He was really too rash. Made the kid overthink for no reason.
"I'm sorry."
"Oh so it isn't enough that..." Qi San paused and then his eyes widened.
"W..What did you say?"
Wen Yu laughed softly. "I said I'm sorry for my earlier behaviour."
Qi San's plump face reddened deeply and he pointed a thick finger at Wen Yu. "What do you mean by you're sorry? Don't think that I'd forgive you easily just because you said sorry. I'm not that cheap!"
The kid pouted with indignance and lowered his head as he ran forward to walk besides Huo Lan.
Wen Yu shook his head at Qi San's tsundere attitude and walked leisurely behind them.
The library was fairly empty when they arrived, the cadets were all training by this time and very few kids would be at the library.
The boys found a spot and sat down. The layout of the library was in the form of 5-person cubicles so it afforded privacy and the cadets didn't need to see each other as they sought for information.
The workings of the library was also automated and all they needed to do to gain access to information was scan their bracelets over the terminal section of the suspended maglev table and swipe through the heavy load of information.
The boys were silent as each focused on downloading the information they needed most.
Wen Yu filled his bracelet's memory with materials on Cross Federation studies, Science and Math.
He was familiar with subjects such as Mecha and Geography as he'd spent the first four years of his life absorbing whatever knowledge he could on these topics to let him understand this world better.
He also had a bit of knowledge on Science and Math as they were popular subjects in his other world, but they were on a whole different level of advanced here so he had to refresh.
Cross Federation studies lastly, was new to him. This referred to the study of the history of the different Federations in the galaxy.
It also involved learning the basics of their languages too but that was for when the cadets were properly enrolled.
Wen Yu sighed in relief. The less baggage there was, the higher chance he had of succeeding. He was just swiping through some materials on military strategy that he somehow found when two teenage voices carried over from the opposite side of the wall.
The cubicles had a soundproof system that could be activated or deactivated and it seemed the cadets in the next cubicle forgot to activate theirs.
"Brother Bei, did you hear that the idiot actually had pre-enrolled cadets assigned to him this time?"
