The boy was staring at him with a thoughtful frown. Wen Yu looked down and he saw why.
There were short flakes of icicles on his body and his skin was beginning to turn blue. Even his teeth were chattering mildly but he was too absorbed in his bitterness and anger to notice.
Wen Yu's eyes shook in fear. While he was being stubborn, his body was freezing over! He didn't dare to think of what would have happened if the attendant boy hadn't stopped him.
He looked around, the other boys were still absorbed in their assimilation and Shi Anjing was nowhere to be found.
He shivered as he took out a blue pill and swallowed. Warmth flooded his veins and he sighed in relief.
The pill was a specially developed medicine that had been produced when he first started to have cold episodes. While it didn't cure the root of his problem, it was effective against the occasional outbreaks.
He stood up and left the hall dejectedly. He felt so depressed. What was the use of giving him a second life if he wouldn't be able to live peacefully? Even living long enough was already a problem.
"Your spirit sea is damaged?"
Wen Yu looked to the side. The attendant boy had followed him out. He kept silent anyways. The kid was working for the Han family, there was no way he'd trust him.
Even if he wasn't treated well in the Han family, who is to say the kid wouldn't run over and blabber to Han Zihao about his situation in order to curry favour?
The rumour about his supposed unrivaled strength had spread far enough and even Xie Wei Da avoided him completely and didn't dare to trouble him anymore.
If word got out that he was indeed useless trash... He couldn't even imagine the horror he'd go through in the hands of those arrogant overpowered kids.
How low he, the once proud young master of the Wen family of City M, had fallen. To the extent that he was scared of a bunch of five year old kids.
The kid seemed to guess what was going on in Wen Yu's mind and he pursed his lips. "I won't tell. Usually, I wouldn't even bother to speak to you or anyone but you're just like me."
Wen Yu was dumbfounded. Usually the kid spoke so little, scratch that he almost never spoke at all! Treating his words like precious gold.
The one time he uttered a long string of words, it was to group the both of them together. Even if he was assimilation trash at least no one treated him like a dog alright!
Wen Yu remained silent and totally ignored the kid. The boy clenched his little fists when he noticed Wen Yu's actions. He hesitated for a while before slowly speaking.
"I have heat episodes. For as long as I can remember, my spirit sea has been damaged, making it really shallow and incapable of accepting large amounts of spirit force as it gets full easily."
Wen Yu was confused. If your spirit sea gets full easily wasn't that a good thing? Advancing should be like breathing to him right?
He was about to speak when Shi Anjing walked up to them and cocked his head sideways, just like a bird. The teenager then arched his lips up a little and gestured to the boys to follow him.
Both boys exchanged confused looks before following. Anyways he was their assigned instructor, they couldn't blatantly disobey him.
Lingxiu Academy was situated on a mountainous terrain and had valiant hills surrounding it, which added to the imposing atmosphere of the Academy.
Shi Anjing took the boys to the rear of one of the lower mountains. They were quite a few trees and the place seemed quite peaceful. Apparently not a lot of cadets visited this area.
They walked for a while before arriving at an old building. It seemed so out of place in the green atmosphere. In fact, it seemed out of place in Lingxiu Academy in general.
"Home." Shi Anjing muttered and led them in.
Wen Yu was stunned. Really? The son of a great marshal lived in such a place? He knew the rumours said Shi Anjing had been literally abandoned but he never thought it was to this extent!
This building was almost falling apart! Lingxiu was a top Academy, surely arranging a better place wouldn't cost much. They led the world outside to believe they were saints by taking in the abandoned kid when, in fact, it was just a show to improve their image in the people's hearts.
In this world there was really no being without ulterior motives? Those who weren't strong enough to fend for themselves can only endure in silence.
Wen Yu looked to Shi Anjing with renewed pity. A boy who once had a boundless future and was considered a genius in his own right was now reduced to this. All for what? The insecurities of others.
He sometimes wondered if Shi Anjing regretted being born to Marshal Shi at the times when he was clear headed.
They soon arrived at a fairly large room but it was completely bare. Wen Yu wondered what it was for.
Shi Anjing cocked his head sideways again, a thoughtful look on his face as he pointed at the attendant boy.
"You. You get really hot when exposed to spirit force."
The boy stiffened and nodded.
Shi Anjing pointed to Wen Yu.
"And you get cold?"
Wen Yu shrugged. Not accepting or denying anything.
Shi Anjing looked to the attendant boy again. "Why?"
Wen Yu also looked at the boy. He really was curious. Being able to absorb spirit force so quickly but got heat episodes.
Well if the heat episodes were all he had to pay for an insane level of advancement then Wen Yu thought he himself would be willing to pay the price.
He soon stopped that train of thought. He really didn't know what went on with the kid's assimilation and jumping to conclusions and desensitizing the kid's pain seemed quite shallow.
