'Truly, humans were victims of their own intelligence,' Wen Yu thought as he mocked himself with a dry chuckle.
The question was to reenact the First Intergalaxian war without the discovery of the Xs gene. Where did he see that the humans had to win?
He took a sigh of relief as he regained his composure. The simple answer to this question would be along the lines of damage control.
The alternate humans would be in a state of desperation due to terrible losses and in order to cut their losses, they might resort to signing a treaty with the Xochs.
At first this method seemed quite feasible but as time goes on, it would be even more damaging because the treaty would be more favourable to the Xochs who were the dominant party.
The little bit of resources the humans had left would be siphoned away and the moment were the humans became resources themselves wouldn't be too far off.
But in the end, nothing was really set in stone. The humans in history were able to create the Xs gene, who's to say the humans in the alternate universe wouldn't be able to create a gene Y or gene Z?
If the humans did in fact become subservient to the Xochs, sooner or later, there would be an uprising. Humans were such ambitious creatures, one that never lacked hot blooded heroes.
This could lead to a myriad of outcomes and the future possibilities of these alternate humans were boundless.
Wen Yu sighed. Damage control it is.
He calmly typed his answer, he was done overthinking. The future of these alternate humans had nothing to do with him anyways. He only needed to give an answer expressing his thoughts so he sent in his answer and a beep indicated his clearance to leave the hall.
Qi San and Huo Lan were already waiting outside the hall. Their eyes lit up the moment they saw Wen Yu step out.
Huo Lan's were especially bright. The kid was about to speak up when a voice came from behind them.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. This is what the so called peerless genius amounts to? Couldn't even finish an ordinary exam in time."
The boys looked over to see Fu Ting. The kid was right behind Han Zihao and Xie Wei Da, who both looked on with a 'better than thou' expression.
Wen Yu internally groaned.
"Say, " Fu Ting continued, "It couldn't be that that senior of yours has transferred his stupidity to you right?"
Qi San grit his teeth and enunciated, "Fu. Ting."
Wen Yu only grabbed Qi San by the arm and walked away with Huo Lan following close behind. There was no use bickering with a bunch of five year olds.
When they got far enough, he let Qi San go. The kid paced around as he grumbled.
"Big bro Yu why did you stop me? You should've let me teach that brat a lesson. He only knows how to hide behind others and spew rubbish!"
Huo Lan nodded along whilst Wen Yu just shook his head and kept on walking. He was not going to bother with the kid. He could talk all he wants but as long as he does no real damage then every other thing could be overlooked.
They got to their dorm and Qi San sprawled on his bed whilst Huo Lan kept casting glances at Wen Yu.
"What?"
"Big bro Yu, " The kid sighed, "The key question this time... I think it was quite weird. The question was too easy, I don't know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't a question with such an obvious answer."
Wen Yu's brows furrowed. "Lingxiu wouldn't set such a question for no reason. What do you think of it?"
"Without the Xs gene, the alternate humans completely perish of course."
'...' Wen Yu was dumbfounded. He really thought too much.
Following Huo Lan's logic, since their universe survived the First Intergalaxian war due to the creation of the Xs gene then the alternate universe would surely perish without the Xs gene.
But wasn't this placing too much dependence on the gene? What was Lingxiu Academy planning to achieve by leading the kids to come to this conclusion?
Wen Yu shouted in frustration in his head. Judging Lingxiu was really pointless. This was indeed the simplest course of action.
He once found a material in the database about a scientist from Earth named Erwin Schrödinger. The moment when the two sides clashed had given birth to a typical Schrödinger scenario.
Therefore the box of conflict, right before the final winner was decided, could contain either one of two things, it was either a universe were the humans were alive or a universe with the humans wiped out of existence.
The pre-enrolled cadets with all their early maturity and grownup inspired thinking were, in the end, still kids. They hadn't reached the stage where they would go as far as to think of preservation through treaties and whatnot.
Even those from elite families would not necessarily be well informed on National and Military politics.
They might have had the best masters to guide them but being instructed was different from thinking up true thoughts that put the scheming of the human nature into consideration when planning out species preservation.
Wen Yu dropped on his bed with a bounce. Even with all his thinking, he couldn't answer a question with such an obvious answer!
It was a question for kids. Kids! He was being too cautious and ended up overdoing it. It was simply an upgraded version of a Yes or No question.
Well then since he may have fluked his first assessment, he'd have to depend on the second and third assessments.
He still held hope for the second assessment. As for the third, the «Fire And Ice Assimilation Manual» crossed his mind.
He'd have to look for a way to make that kid trust him. His soul left his lips with a sigh.
His life seemed very hard and his future was beginning to look increasingly bleak.
