Chapter 35 - Results

Wen Yu was besides himself with worry for the next few days as he awaited the results. He wasn't worried about being kicked out though, he was certain of his performance in the main subjects.

His only worry was passing by a narrow margin due to performing so poorly at the key question. Did the key question even play a major role in determining their results?

He was really irritable this period. He had also tried reasoning with the attendant kid severally but the kid was really like a log of wood. So unresponsive.

What really made the kid so averse to assimilating with him? So much that he'd rather torture himself countless times in the practice hall with no breakthrough in sight than open up his spirit sea to another person.

The kids of this era were really too hateful. They were either constantly looking for trouble or being unnecessarily head strong and unreasonable.

He was in the midst of taking out his anger on his mattress when a soft ping sound came from his bracelet. He looked down and his heart started racing frantically. The results were out.

Even if Lingxiu Academy could directly send the results of their assessments to their bracelets, the hateful Academy decided to just showcase the results on the School billboard.

Wen Yu's face heat up. He was really going to die from embarrassment. How was he supposed to raise his head after this? Was this how a top school was meant to handle things?

What were they being so showy for?

After grumbling for what felt like an eternity, Wen Yu grudgingly walked over to the Academy square where the billboard was standing, tall and proud, above the heads of numerous kids.

When he got closer, he noticed a lot of the kids were giving him strange looks.

Wen Yu's stomach dropped. What now? Why was he always running into situations such as this?

"Big bro Yu!"

He looked over to see Qi San and Huo Lan waving at him excitedly. He clasped his hands behind his back and calmly walked over to them.

"Ah, big bro Yu you're so amazing. Look!" Qi San gushed and pointed at the billboard.

Wen Yu frowned. He'd been trying hard not to look at the billboard in fear of what he might see but it looked like it was time to face his fears.

He didn't even bother glancing at the top, his eyes going straight to the bottom of the list. When he didn't see his name, his heart thumped. He didn't make it?

He bit his slightly quivering lips and slowly looked up. The list was quite long and the higher up he went, the more disheartened he became.

He was really going to be kicked out? He took a cursory glance at the top three names and he froze.

[3rd place: Han Zihao]

[2nd place: Duyi]

[1st place: Wen Yu]

He really didn't know who that Duyi kid without a surname was but the Wen Yu... Was him right? He passed. Wen Yu's heart finally dropped from his throat to his chest.

He really passed and it seemed he performed the best in the exams! His eyes were slightly red. This was the first time he made a real noteworthy achievement.

It might be trivial to others but he wasn't really the brightest in his past life and barely passed his exams. No one dared to make a peep back then because he was from an influential family.

But now, it felt so good. He wished his older siblings could see, he really didn't make any trouble and his name was at the top of an academic list!

"What is the meaning of this?!"

Wen Yu snapped out of his reverie at the furious voice of a child.

Han Zihao was before the attendant boy with, of course, a horde of bite sized followers.

"Even trash like you could do better than me in the First Assessment? What the h*ck do you know?!"

The attendant boy just stared expressionlessly with his fists clenched at his sides.

"Answer me!" With that roar, Han Zihao directed a wave of his spirit energy at the kid who was easily blown to the ground.

The kid calmly stood up only to be blown back again. This happened repeatedly and bruises were beginning to appear on his white skin.

Wen Yu sighed. As much as he disliked the kid for being unreasonable, this was too much. If something happened to the kid then all hope for his advancement was really lost.

He walked over and picked the kid off the ground placing himself right between Han Zihao and the kid.

The incoming wave of spirit energy dispersed before it could reach the kid and veins bulged on Han Zihao's forehead.

Xie Wei Da came up then. "You, Wen kid. What is the meaning of this? Why stick your nose in other people's business?"

Wen Yu shot Xie Wei Da a cold look that caused the kid to almost choke on his spit. "Aren't you doing exactly the same?"

"And you, Han Zihao, " He nudged his head at the kid. "Does this place look like your Han family home? Since when did the Han family control Lingxiu Academy that you feel you could attack others however you please? Aren't you looking down on this Academy too much?"

Han Zihao, who was still swelling in anger at Wen Yu's intervention, froze when he heard his words.

He was a kid, not stupid. How could he not understand what Wen Yu was trying to do? If the masters at Lingxiu saw this, they'd definitely be displeased and blame him for undermining their authority due to his family background!

Even if they all gave way to him due to his family's might, they had pride too! Doing this would just pit them against him for no reason.

He grit his teeth. Wen. Yu.

Wen Yu raised his chin slightly at Han Zihao before walking off with his two tails following right behind. He was pretty sure the kid got his message.

As for the attendant kid, he'd already done his best, he was under no obligation to help but he did anyways.

Han Zihao huffed and puffed at Wen Yu's retreating back before storming off. The other kids were beginning to disperse too. The show was over.

They were a bit disappointed as they were hoping the two kids considered the top dogs of their set would fight but could only smack their lips in loss.

Soon enough the attendant kid, Duyi, was the only one left standing. His eyes were still glued to the place Wen Yu had walked off to.

No one had ever stood up for him before.
