Wen Lin caught up with him the moment they left the hall.
"Ah Yu..."
Wen Yu looked at her sad eyes and puffed cheeks and then forced a smile as he flicked her forehead.
"Silly girl, why do you look so wronged?"
She held his hands. "Ah Yu, don't be sad okay? I'm pretty sure if you work hard enough they'd accept you anyways."
Wen Yu just smiled. How could it be that simple?
"Oh look, it's the attention seeker."
What now? Wen Yu internally groaned as he looked at the newcomer. It was the stray kid from two days ago and he brought with him his little band of teddy bear sized delinquents.
Wen Lin puffed her cheeks. "Fu Ting, what do you want this time?"
Wen Yu quirked a brow. "You know his name?"
"How could I not? It's been only two days and yet he'd caused enough trouble to make him even more popular than the talented seniors."
"Hey little girl, you better watch your mouth. Don't think I wouldn't teach you a lesson just because you're a girl!" Fu Ting shouted.
Wen Yu felt the beginnings of a headache. What wrong did he commit to encounter troublesome kids everywhere? He was feeling miserable and yet they wouldn't even let him peacefully wallow in his self loathing.
Fu Ting pointed to Wen Yu. "You. How do you like your dorm? Must be really comfy. Brother Wei Da especially prepared that surprise for you. Just a little warning."
The rest giggled happily.
Wen Yu: '....' Was it really okay for you to give out your brother Wei Da like that? He was exasperated. The dorm wasn't even bad at all, just less fancy than others! If it were his former world, it would be considered a nice studio apartment!
Well probably for these overpampered young masters such a place was pure torture.
He rolled his eyes and grabbed Wen Lin, directly walking away from the noisy buns.
They soon arrived at the task hall and lined up in front of a random booth. When it got to Wen Yu's turn, the pretty senior sister's eyes widened a bit.
"Ahh, such a cute junior." The little brother before her had large eyes with really long lashes and a cute button nose. His hair was slightly longer and framed his white face perfectly.
He looked just like a little angel. Her fingers itched terribly. Ah, it would be nice to pinch those round cheeks!
Wen Yu stared at her calmly and said nothing. He looked just like a little adult, other kids would blush when complimented but he didn't.
The pretty senior sister finally scanned his electronic bracelet to transfer his assigned senior's information to him.
When she saw the name of the senior, she pursed her lips but said nothing. She quickly looked to Wen Lin and gushed about how pretty she also was and transferred the information to her.
The two Wen family kids then proceeded to the training hall where the seniors were gathered.
He spotted one of his roommates in the hall. It was that Han kid's attendant. He had no idea what the kid's name was because when they were introducing themselves two days ago, the boy kept silent and hardly spared the rest of them a glance.
Wen Yu looked away. It wasn't his business what went on in the boy's life anyways. He looked at the name in his bracelet. Shi Anjing.
He wondered what kind of person this Shi Anjing was. The senior sister's expression from a while ago didn't go unnoticed.
The seniors soon came in. They were all dressed smartly in their white uniforms with gold highlights, paired off with black military boots.
The style of the Lingxiu Academy uniform was similar to the uniform worn by soldiers and it gave the seniors a really heroic look.
Compared to the unremarkable blue all the pre-enrolled cadets wore, the seniors shone brightly in their uniforms. They all actually gave off the feeling of jailers guarding a group of prisoners. Wen Yu suddenly felt self conscious.
The seniors were also a bunch of 16 year olds. Lingxiu Academy trained the accepted cadets for a span of ten years.
After that, the best were selected to participate in the Future Cadets Competition that was held every two years before they were all drafted in the army.
Wen Yu examined each and every one of them. They were all kinds of characters, the nonchalant, the aloof, the serious, the amicable. All kinds. The one thing they all had in common was their self important attitudes.
Carrying themselves like nobles. One of them stepped out. He was huge!
"Ah fresh meat," The hulkish senior said with a wolfish grin and a few kids gulped.
"The senior to pre-newbie ratio is 1:3. So basically, some of you would be lucky enough to have a senior all to yourselves while some of you would have to share as you look at the earlier ones with eyes full of envy."
Where was the sense in that?! Wen Yu frowned. If the ratio was 1:3 then technically, they all had to share, so what was this?
The seniors activated the hologram in their bracelets so their names appeared in large in front of them.
Kids like Han Zihao and Xie Wei Da had a senior especially assigned to them while kids from commoner homes had to share seniors according to their dorm room.
This meant that Wen Yu and his roommates were directly grouped together under one senior. He wasn't even from a commoner home!
Wen Yu nearly puked blood. They made no show to hide their blatant favouritism!
Wen Yu slowly made his way over to the senior Shi Anjing in the sea of excited and dejected kids alike.
His roommates were already there when he arrived. Huo Lan was hopping from excitement whilst the rest just gave him confused looks.
What was he happy about? Did he not notice the partiality of this situation? What a naive child ah.
Wen Yu looked to the centre where senior Shi stood and he was dumbfounded.
This was the senior assigned to them? What happened to the aloof persona with the aura of a general he was expecting? Who was this person who couldn't even keep his spine straight and kept staring at the floor?
How did he even manage to become a full-fledged student with such a personality?
Wen Yu resisted the urge to scream and asked, "Senior Shi?"
Shi Anjing looked up at him in confusion before shrinking his neck and staring at the ground once more.
Oh no. Wen Yu bit his lips hard. All hope was lost, it seems he had no affinity with Lingxiu Academy. He looked to the other boys and saw looks of disappointment that rivaled his own.
Only Huo Lan remained happy whilst the attendant boy was expressionless, as always. Wen Yu had a feeling, if the planet were to implode, the boy would face it with an attitude of 'I couldn't care less.'
Wen Yu sighed. If this was the senior assigned to aid him on his journey then all hope was truly gone, might as well just breeze through this year without worries as he waited to be kicked out.
