Chereads / Mated to Gods / Chapter 16 - Katrina

Chapter 16 - Katrina

Beckett, Luka, and I are sitting in the living room waiting for the others to arrive. The silence is deafening.

"Sooo…" I speak up, freezing, when both of their heads turn towards me, "Are we going to discuss the elephant in the room, or are we just going to pretend that nothing happened?"

"Nothing did happen, Katrina." Luka responds, "Power bonding is a normal occurrence; your mate just blew it out of proportion."

I turn my head to focus solely on Beckett, waiting for his response. His cheeks are tinged pink, indicating that he's embarrassed about his behavior.

"You're the only woman I've allowed into my life; I've never had such strong feelings for another…." Beckett starts, but then our conversation is interrupted by the slamming of our lobby door.

"Beck, Dude, What's going on?" Aphelion calls as he walks into the room.

"Why's Luka here?" Miles asks as he walks into the room behind Aphelion.

Samael is the last to enter the room, his eyes traveling the room until they settle on me, a look of relief in his eyes. "I thought something was wrong with Katrina when you said it was urgent." Samael's gaze flickers to Luka and then back to me again, "Why are your auras intertwined?" He asks, directing his question at me.

"Luka performed a power-sharing ritual with me. My powers tried to fuck his, and he was able to help me block off our connection before we became fully bonded." I reply, causing my other three mates' attention to avert to me.

"Your power tried to fuck Luka's?" Aphelion asked, a look of confusion on his face.

"Ughh, from my understanding of things, I think that's its gist," I reply.

Luka lets out a low chuckle. It's very masculine, and it's doing something to me. I try to blame my arousal on the power-sharing and not on the fact that if I still had a type, Luka would be it, "I've never heard of it called power fucking before, but yes, that is essentially what happened. The moment Katrina stepped into my classroom, her magic called to mine. I could feel magic that I had buried deep down, trying to surface and get to her. We performed a power-sharing ritual, the most intense ritual, and when my power connected with Katrina's, it was like her entire being was calling to me; it wanted me to connect to her in every way possible. It wanted me to make her mine; luckily, I overcame the urge and got Katrina to put up a mental block, cutting off our bond before it had a chance to solidify. As long as Katrina and I keep our distance, the bond will weaken over time before it completely disappears."

"It's already stronger now than when we first shared our power." I speak up, looking directly at Luka, "It's like I can still feel your power running through my body, and I am soaking up its essence."

"That shouldn't be possible." Luka responds, "I've put up a mental block; I would feel it if our powers were merging still."

"Katrina's right; I can still see your powers swirling amongst hers. It's how I knew you were bonded." Samael speaks up.

"This... This has never happened before." Luka responds, seemingly lost in his thoughts. "This shouldn't be happening."

"Maybe it has something to do with that black sludge?" I suggest.

"What black sludge?" Miles asks as he strides across the room and picks me up from my seat, taking the spot for himself and setting me down on his lap.

"That's the real reason I called you all here," Beckett states, taking his gaze off of Luka. "When I learned that Luka had bonded with Katrina, it was like I was hit was an intense amount of jealousy. I could feel a dark cloud hanging over my entire being. I tried to fight the rage, but the more I thought of Katrina and Luka together, I became angrier. If it weren't for Katrina settling my raging seas, I would have destroyed Luka's classroom and perhaps all of our classmates. When Katrina touched me, a black sludge-like individual sprang from my body. Katrina was able to destroy it using heavenly light. Luka seems to have some idea of what this being is."

"What a sludge-like substance controlled you, the heir to the Sea Kingdom, a full God?" Aphelion asks, a look of confusion on his face.

"It's more than just a sludge," Luka speaks up, his mental shield so intense I can feel it pushing against me, but still, my powers manage to find a way to wiggle in and caress his. "That black substance is called Eitr. It is neither dead nor alive. Eitr is the origin of life. Jörmungandr created dark Etir as a weapon to destroy the Norse Gods. Eitr, both light and dark, was supposed to have been destroyed with the destruction of Asgard. The substance that came from Beckett was a fledgling Eitr; when in its full form, it can shift into any dark beast; a basilisk, an Oshi-Oni, a chimera, a Kraken, even a Medusa type creature. Its shapeshifting is one of the many things that makes Eitr so dangerous. The other reason is that whoever can wield the power of Eitr can open the void and release the titans."

"How can Eitr be destroyed?" Miles asks, trying to plan a strategy.

"I am not sure." Luka responds, "Thor and Loki were supposed to have destroyed it over a millennium ago. We need to consult with your fathers; they're the leaders of the four kingdoms currently; we need to seek their advice."

"Uh.." All four of my men shuffle uncomfortably. "About that." Aphelion says, "We can't bring up the Eitr to our fathers unless we can bring up how it was destroyed without mentioning Katrina."

"Why?" Luka asks, staring at me intensely.

"That's none of your concern," Beckett growls.

"If you want me to keep a secret from our kings, I should know why I am risking my life!" Luka yells, his patience running thin.

"Katrina is special," Miles explains, feeling like he owes Luka some explanation.

Every second our bond forges stronger; I feel myself growing closer to Luka, and I can almost feel his emotions within myself. I sense that I can trust him with my life and that he would never do anything to jeopardize my trust in him.

"Luka," I call to him, getting his attention.

"Katrina, don't," Samael growls out.

"Please, kitten, we can't afford to let anyone else know." Miles pleads with me.

"You're already at risk, princess." Aphelion states.

"We can't trust him, Darling," Beckett growls.

"Luka," I start again, ignoring my mates, "I have strange powers that I am sure you sensed earlier. I have the gift of heavenly light, but I also can create Hell's fire. I don't know which kingdom I come from or what God I am related to, but I know that I am beyond powerful, even more, powerful than the original Gods; if they learned my true nature, they would destroy me."

"Great, now we'll have to kill him," Samael replies, smacking his hand against his head.

"Touch him, Samael, and I'll tear off your dick," I growl at him, stepping in front of Luka to protect him from my mates.

"You would lose all your concentration the second you held my cock in your hand." Samael taunted, my cheeks flaring pink.

"Fine. We won't tell the Kings." Luka speaks up from behind me before walking in front of me, "I don't need you to protect me either, Kit-Kat. I am stronger than I look."

"Great, another fucking nickname," I respond, rolling my eyes.

"Okay, we will figure out what to do about the Eitr later, but right now, we need to concentrate on how to stop your powers from fucking." Samael responds.

"Still?" Luka asks, "I put up an impenetrable shield."

"Well, it's a good thing you aren't in Tartarus then because you'd be taken advantage of." Samael laughs.

"Not the time to be joking, dude," Aphelion says, speaking up. If we don't want this relationship to become a sixsome, we best find a way to stop them from merging further."

"I can feel you inside of me." I tell Luka, causing him to sputter as he glanced over at Beckett to see if he was getting ready to murder him, "You seem so lonely. On the outside, you appear to be a strong, well-adjusted member of society; your life seems joyous and like you have a sense of belonging, but that is just a shield you put on to protect yourself. Inside, you're scared of your powers, you're afraid of the chaos taking control, you want to be a productive member of society, but you're afraid the trifecta of your bloodline will shadow any good you do in this world."

Luka clears his throat. "Yes, we need to find a way to sever this bond. I don't appreciate my emotions being shared with the world."

"I'm sorry, Luka." I reply, taking a step towards him, taking his hand into mine, "This is all new to me; I am not trying to invade your privacy; your soul is just so pure, it's hard not to embrace myself in it."

The moment our hands touched, the power surrounding us surged bright and then diminished.

"What was that?" Aphelion asked.

"Katrina managed to block our powers from combining the moment our skin touched, although I'm not sure how that was possible. Skin to skin contact is supposed to make the bond stronger." Luka responds.

"I...I don't know; something inside me was calling to me, telling me to connect with you. So I followed the voice, and the moment we touched, I felt our connection break." I respond.

When Miles speaks up, Luka seems to be deep in thought again, "The bond is still there, I can sense it, but it's not as strong as it was a moment ago. Let's try and keep your naughty powers to yourself for now, KItten; you can unleash them when I take you to bed." He winks.

"Actually," Aphelion speaks up, a Cheshire grin. "Katrina has promised me a spot in her bed tonight. So sorry, Miles."

I can't help but laugh; even in the midst of this confusion, my guys can still argue over my attention.

"Well, see about that," Miles grumbles.

"Ughh… sorry to interrupt your discussion on bedtime arrangements, but I was wondering something," Luka speaks up again.

"Okay." Everyone says in unison, looking towards Luka again.

"Katrina, do you know if your powers have ever fed off anyone else's powers before? I saw something when we were power-sharing, but I couldn't see it completely. I assumed it was a fallen angel wing because it sat opposite of your angel wing, but the image was blurred. Now that I know you've used Hells Fire, I am almost certain it was a fallen angel wing."

I glance at the ground uncomfortably as I shuffle from one foot to the other. I feel the sparks on my arms before I notice that Aphelion has wrapped his arms around me to comfort me. "Today, after sparring class, Hilda said the reason I was able to absorb her lightning was because I was feeding off of Aphelion's powers."

"Hilda attacked you." Miles asks, glaring at me, "Is that why your mood changed today when you left the locker room?"

"That's not what's important right now, Miles. What's important is the fact that I am a fucking monster." I cry out as tears start falling down my face.
