Chereads / Mated to Gods / Chapter 17 - Aphelion

Chapter 17 - Aphelion

"That's not what's important right now, Miles. What's important is the fact that I am a fucking monster." Katrina cried out, tears spilling from her face as she ran towards her room.

I felt a lump in my throat as my heart pained for my mate. I caused this hurt. Hilda was only messing with her because of me; if I had never agreed to marry her after graduation, Katrina wouldn't be in this situation right now. I just wanted my father off of my back. From the time I was ten and just beginning to learn the ropes of the kingdom, my father had started bugging me to marry Thor's daughter, telling me it was for the good of the domain. Finally, I was sick and tired of hearing it by thirteen, so I agreed to the betrothal.

When I finally met Hilda at fifteen, I wasn't entirely against the betrothal. She was an early developer and had thick full breasts that I couldn't wait to get my hands on. We had sex the first day we met, and we continued to have sex off and on until just recently. Whenever I was around Hilda, I became antsy; it felt like my lighting was running through my skin to keep her at a distance. The few times we had tried to be intimate, I had shocked her. I didn't know why my unchecked power until Katrina walked into the conference room with Miles. My divine powers had been trying to tell me something; they wanted me to know that my mate was near. When I left the conference room, I should have gone straight to my father and informed him that the wedding was off, that I had met my mate. But I was more focused on Katrina; she had been the only thing running through my mind.

"Wait, Katrina." I heard Miles calling after her, interrupting my thoughts and bringing me back to the present. Katrina had already made it to her bedroom door, slamming the door loudly behind her. Miles stared after her like a lost puppy. "What was that about," he asked, his eyebrows scrunched up.

"Katrina has demonic powers," Professor Luka spoke up. "I'm sure from what little knowledge she has learned about demons and what nonsense the humans' sprout, she thinks they're monsters, that they're the enemy, and their sole nature is to destroy anything good in this world."

"But they are monsters." Beckett spoke, "The demons have revolted many times, causing panic and mayhem, leaving only destruction in their path. They're our enemies."

Samael growled out at Beckett, but he didn't say anything to contradict him. He had grown up in the underworld; he had seen banished demons; he knew what they were like and what evils they had.

"Are you calling your mate a monster?" Luka asked, staring Beckett down, his eyes full of anger.

"No, I would never…." Beckett started.

"Katrina has demon blood running through her veins. If all demons are monsters, that makes your mate one too." Luka replied, interrupting Beckett.

"That's not what I meant," Beckett mumbled, running his hand through his unruly hair, the brown curls looking more frizzy than curly.

"It's what you said." Luka responded, glaring up at Beckett, "It's no wonder your mate hates herself.

"I think you should leave now," Beckett replied, staring down at Luka as he straightened his back, showing off his intimidating height of six feet, seven inches.

"Why worried I'll steal your girl from you., Luka smirked, trying to provoke Beckett.

I had had enough of their arguing while Miles and Samael watched the upcoming fight between Luka and Beckett. I snuck off towards Katrina's room. I was the reason behind this mess, and I wanted to fix it before losing my mate.

I knocked gently on her door, calling her name, "Hey Princess, Can I come in?"

Katrina let out a sniffle, her mattress making a slight creaking noise as she got up and walked towards the door. I heard the lock clicking, and my heart dropped, assuming she was locking me out. She slowly opened her door as I swallowed down the hard lump in my throat. I looked down at her petite form and noticed that her eyes were bright red, the tip of her nose the same color. She'd been crying all this time.

"Hey sparky," She said as she attempted to smile up at me as she opened the door wide, gesturing for me to come in.

I followed her back into her room and let out a loud sigh as she sat down on her bed. She watched me as I began to pace back and forth in her room, my nerves skyrocketing as I tried to figure out what to say. Finally, I stopped walking and stood directly in front of her staring down into her beautiful blue eyes. She appeared so angelic yet so broken as I gazed down at her. I grabbed her hand and kneeled in front of her.

"You're not a monster princess. Goddess, Angel, Demon, I don't care. You're my mate, and you're perfect for me. Mates are supposed to lend each other their strength; just being near you, I can feel my power increasing; I don't care if you feed off of my power source to increase yours; with you, by my side, I have an unlimited supply." I started as I smiled up at her.

"How can you not hate me," She began, tears filling her eyes again, "Demon blood runs through my veins; I am pure evil. I am your enemy." She choked out.

"No, Princess, you could never be my enemy, and I could never hate you. Not all demons are evil like not all Angels are pure. And let me tell you, Gods and Goddesses are overrated. They're the worst sinners of all." I responded to her, lifting my hand and wiping a tear that had trickled down her face.

She sighed into my hand, and I knew I was reassuring her of her place by my side just by being here.

"You don't think Hilda would be a better match for you?" She asked, her vulnerability showing in her eyes.

"At one point, I thought Hilda would be the best match for the sky kingdom," I started, watching the pain return to her eyes, "My father, he spent years telling me how beneficial our union would be. He convinced me that marrying Hilda would secure our rule, and it would be best for our citizens. The way he explained it made perfect sense, and I couldn't see a reason not to marry her. We finally met by the time I turned fifteen, and Hilda was a pretty girl. She wooed me with her charms that day, and like any teenager, I let my dick lead me. Hilda and I were off and on for years, using each other as a means for sexual release. But those moments we were together, I never felt complete. I always felt like something was missing, but I pushed those feelings aside. I was heir to the sky kingdom. I needed to do right by my people, and at that time, what seemed right was being with Hilda, even though it felt all wrong. A month before I met you, I started losing control of my power. Anytime Hilda was near me, my power would flare up, and it would feel like I had tiny spiders crawling up and down me. My power even struck Hilda whenever she got too close to me. I had no idea what was going on until you walked through that door with Miles. The moment I saw you, I understood what my power had been trying to tell me. My mate was here. When I first laid eyes on you, it was the first time in my life that I felt complete. The first time I held you in my arms, it felt right. You were made for me, Princess. You are meant to be my Queen. You are the best match and the only person for me."

With those words, I had all but told Katrina that I loved her, that I was in love with her, but I didn't want to scare her off. I wanted her to get accustomed to our mate bond and her feelings towards me before I told her what my heart knew; I was head over heels in love with her. I waited quietly for her response, hoping that my explanation would be enough for her.

Katrina sat there with a shocked expression before she jumped off the bed and threw herself onto me, wrapping her arms around my neck as she nuzzled into my chest, inhaling my scent.

"So I take it I'm forgiven then?" I asked as I held her tightly against me.

"Silly Sparky, I was never mad at you. I just was unsure of my place by your side. I wasn't sure if you'd want me once you found out what I could do." She replied shyly as she pulled away from my chest, looking into my eyes.

"I'll always want you," I replied, brushing a strand of hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear before I leaned down and kissed her gently.

Her hold around me tightened as she pushed her body closer to mine and kissed me back. I slowly pulled away, staring into her eyes, noticing the desire flared in them.

"Want to know why I call you sparky?" She asked.

"You know I do," I replied, smiling at her.

"Because every time our skin touches, it sends little shockwaves shooting into me." She stated.

"You feel them too?" I asked.

"Yes, and every time I feel them, they send a rush of desire shooting through me."

It was my turn now to look at her with desire coating my eyes, as I hoped she didn't feel my erection that was slowly growing in my pants. She smirked at me and ground her ass into my lap, causing me to harden as she let out a little moan.

"Keep doing that, Princess, and I won't be able to control myself," I told her, my voice huskier than usual.

"I want you to lose control." She whispered in my ear and pushed her body up against mine.

"I don't think you know what you're asking for," I responded as I tried to calm my desire and the urge I had to pick her up and toss her into her bed.

"Yes, I do, Sparky; I want you. I want to be yours. Please make me yours. I want to show the world that I belong to you and that you belong to me."

I stared deeply into her eyes, "You want to seal our mate bond?" I asked, looking for any hesitation, "Once it's sealed, there's no going back."

She didn't hesitate for a second. "Yes, I do." She stated firmly.

I stood up with her still in my lap, as she tightened her hold on me. I walked towards her bed, gently placing her on it, as I looked down on her with a hunger in my eyes causing her to shiver with anticipation.
