Chapter 25 - FEVER PITCH I

ACE POV:

Remembering the gore of last night gave me the chills.

As I approached the hallway, I could involuntarily eavesdrop on the conversation ensuing between father and daughter.

"Dad, it was a mistake".

"It was too costly. It could have resulted into a war if not well handled".

"But it was. Besides, they wouldn't dare us".

I heard a slight chuckle, accompanied by a deep sigh.

"Daughter, you make me laugh with your childish tantrums".

I could hear footsteps.

"Becca, even if you are stronger than your enemy, it doesn't mean you should step on their toes. Making foes is easy, but having true allies is very difficult".

He paused a little.

"Besides, our ancestors fought very hard to keep the peace, why should we jeopardize their efforts?".

He sighed deeply again.

"Keep the peace wherever you are Becca. Always seek peace till the last second".

There was silence between both father and daughter.

"Where's the pure-blood? Some emissaries came from the Council bearing news that he's been missing for 3 weeks now".

{Me? Missing for 3 weeks?

But it's just 3 days!!!}

"So fast? It's just barely 3 days here in the Caribbeans?".

{Wait? WTF?!!!

Sorry, I'm where?!!!

How many miles away am I from home???}

A tap at my back jolted me to reality.

It was Sarah again.

"It's bad manners to eavesdrop. Isn't that what the human world teaches?".

I felt a little awkward being lectured.

"Sorry my bad".

"Sarah, am I really in the Caribbean region?".

"Yeah. Where did you think of formerly?".

"You visit the human world, right?".

"Yeah, I do".

"Okay, okay. When you get to the human world, how long do you spend?".

"I can spend 3 days in the human world or the Wizarding world, I could be gone, maybe 3-4 hours here".

"You're not kidding, right?".

"No, it's the truth. Time works differently in all parts of the world. Weren't you taught in Geography?".

"Well, they didn't say this much a difference".

I soon began to fret.

"My family, my friends, my...!".

She looked through the small space that the open door provided.

"Go in then" she prodded.

I opened the door wider and entered the room.

I walked inside, still pondering on shocking revelations I just received.

I then braced myself to solve the problems later.

Now, I wanted nothing but to go home now.

I greeted him cordially.

He acknowledged me.

He then looked to the hallway.

"Where's the pure-blood descendant?".

Hearing this, my gaze shot up to him.

"Errm, Dad. He's right here".

He looked at me in surprise.

"But he's only a boy!".

"Yeah he is, amusingly".

Sarah uttered the last word in whispers, but somehow I caught wind of it.

"Hello, my boy. How do you do?".

"I'm fine, thank you".

"Well, news from the Council revealed that you have been missing for 3 weeks, well only in the US".

"Yeah, I'm flustered myself".

"Well, I hope you had a good stay here".

"Yeah I did".

I said that last bit in deception.

"Good, 'cause you're going home soon".

"Thanks for your hospitality, sir".

{'What bloody hospitality? The one that almost got you killed?

The one that is about to send you home in stitches?' my mind raged.

'Well, I came without invitation' I chided.}

"You're welcome".

"Becca, I entrust him to you. Send him home".

"Yes, father".

AT THE ZEUB CLAN

SAM POV:

I was really mad. Brother supported the enemy over me.

The more I thought about, it enraged me the more.

Suddenly, I saw a dim light emerge from the ground. Soon, everywhere went up in smoke.

I coughed strongly as I was about to choke.

Surprisingly, I couldn't speak or call for help.

Suddenly, a shadow started to emerge from the smoke. I thought that the guards were coming.

Just then, a woman emerged from the cloud of smoke.

She was very beautiful and fair to look at.

She walked closer and closer until she got to where I was.

She had a rather domineering presence.

She had a smug smile playing on her lips.

Then, she spoke to me in a rich exotic voice.

"Hello, Sam. I'm Rachel!".
