Chapter 26 - FEVER PITCH II

JANE POV:

We just got into another realm.

We followed the talisman as we went on.

"Don't forget your promise, full-blood. Or else, you know the consequences".

The voice rang loudly in my head.

"Jane, we weren't supposed to do that. It's against the rules".

It was Xiao.

"But you still followed me anyway. Isn't it also against the rules too" I probed.

"It's okay. We don't need to apportion blames here. It's already done" Drekov replied.

"Dre, I'm scared. The fog is too thick".

Aurella clinged to him and held his arm tighter.

"Don't worry. I'm here. I'll protect you".

We looked at them in laughter.

"Hey, lovebirds. This is not the time for romance".

They quickly separated from each other.

"We are not lovebirds, Xiao".

"Stop deceiving yourselves. Everyone can see the affection in your eyes".

"She's..., she's..., she's my close friend. It's not what you think".

"Really? Why are you stammering then? Speak up straight then".

It was Shola.

"Look, look at those flowers. They look beautiful".

He was obviously trying to change the topic.

"Wow, those are beautiful. Won't some be a worthy offering for your Juliet, Mr. Romeo?".

It was Xiao again.

We burst into laughter.

Drekov and Aurella were not looking amused.

"Come on, Xiao. We are just friends, you know".

"Yeah, yeah, I know" nodded Xiao sarcastically.

"Come on, Xiao. Let them be" I intervened.

"Thank you Jane. That's why I like you. So reasonable, unlike some other people".

"But you have to accept your feelings sooner rather than later".

I hit the nail on the head.

"Jane, come on. Not you too".

"Seems like I'm not the only one that feels the chemistry".

"Come on, now. Let's not for....".

*THUD*

The ground shook with force.

The fog seemed to be disturbed for a while.

"What was that?".

"It seemed to come from over there".

"Let's check it out then".

"It's too dangerous. Besides, she said never to turn aside from following the talisman".

"She never said anything about not helping anyone".

"Still, it's too dangerous".

"Well, suit yourself".

"Jane, where are you...?".

Their words faded as I ran further.

I ran towards the direction of the sound.

The fog seemed to lead me on.

The ground was fully covered so I couldn't see a thing.

As I ran, I hit something. I fell down.

"Jane, Jane".

"Over here".

They came closer to where I was.

"I fell down".

They also seemed to hit something.

A wimpy sound came out.

"What's that?".

"I don't know".

We used our hands to drive away the fog.

There laid a furry beast. It was bleeding profusely.

"It's a beast. It looks seriously injured".

Something in my heart felt for the creature.

"What should we do about it?".

"What can we do? It's not like we're going to take it back to Divars, are we?".

I looked at Xiao intently.

"Jane, it's not what you are thinking, is it?".

"We can't just let it die".

"We didn't come here to save any creatures. We came for Ace".

"Besides the keeper said we shouldn't deviate from following the talisman. We've already disobeyed her already".

"Whatever you say, I'm still gonna help it".

"Jane, don't forget the deal you made. This decision you are about to make may cause dire consequences".

"I don't care. I made the deal, I'll bear the cost".

"But...".

"Xiao, it's enough".

Shola turned to me.

"Jane, we'll stick by you, no matter your choice. We're in this together".

"Thanks guys".

THIRD PERSON POV:

A woman was in a dark room. She stood beside a glass orb.

The orb was glowing brightly. Still, her face wasn't still visible from the rear.

"No, it's not possible. They failed me yet again".

Her red robes glimmered in the brightness of the orb.

Soon, a mysterious fire shot out from the chimney.

"Report" she said.

"The Zeub Clan is now under our control. Soon, we'll engage the next step".

"Good. Meanwhile, find a way to take care of this mess you created".

"Yes, my Queen".

IN AN UNKNOWN DIMENSION

THIRD PERSON POV:

It is a huge and beautiful mansion.

Words are in lacking to relay it's splendor.

It is actually a palace.

On the throne is seated a glorious entity in all magnificence.

Soon, some immortals enter the throne room.

"Master, you sent for us".

"Yes, I did. Look into the world".

They have a look for sometime.

They all let out deep sighs.

"It was too soon, Master".

"We have to act now or He will steal all our hard work. All your efforts up till now will be in vain".

"Yes, Master".

"Merlin, relay a message for me to the pure-blood descendant".

"Yes, Master".

The entity turns to the other side of the room.

"Meanwhile, Johann. The time has come. Speak to her now".

"Yes, Master".
