Chapter 1 - Conan's loss and regret[1]

Every legend is a beginning, every adventure started from somewhere.

...The fact is, all legends start from a significant occurrence that happened in the main character's life. It may be a loss— a cause for revenge. Sometimes a fortuitous encounter.

Sometimes even death, to the rebirth of an immortal or god. It had all happened before in the Planeverse and Ons'zama, the God of Literature and Astral Adventures made sure to record it all.

In this case, it started with Conan's loss and regret...

Ancient age...

In Eardale— the lowest of the plane out of all the Planeverse in existence. The habitats of mortals consist of different races.

An event was taking place on the peak of a ridiculously tall mount, situated above the Phoenix sect. A certain lady had just passed the tribulations of ascension to immortality and was now having her Bloodline Incarnation.

Searing cosmic flames raged around in the form of countless phoenix[s], revolving around the woman who was now undergoing a metaphysical transformation–the change of form, within to without, according to one's bloodline.

Howls of pain and terrifying cracklings of bones dislocating and taking different shapes and then lodging together to form entirely new structures resounded heavily.

Her spirit and soul also underwent an evolution and gained the strength to hold transcendent energies and mindset, hence an immortal.

Her height grew, flaming feathers grew on her skin, and golden scales, and claws formed on her fingernails and thighs, all the way to her toes. Her black hair withered and Vermillion took its place, dancing wildly with flames as its coat.

Tiny Vermillion hairs spread all around her and at the same time, the phoenix-like flames revolving around her intensified and raged more fiercely, masking her naked figure in a flames.

Soon, the phoenix-like flames started getting sucked into her body, pushing her evolution Further, creating a vortex of spiritual energy her, and generating massive shockwaves with her as point zero.

Meanwhile, amidst the Phoenix-like flames, the woman was on her fours, her eyes tightly closed shut as she endured the pain that came with the evolution with all her being.

Her back tore open, however, no blood poured out but two sets of bones grew out of her backbone. Vermillion streaks ran along the bones as they grew and formed two majestic sets of wing bones.

After the wing bones had grown fully, the Vermillion streaks intensified as muscles, blood, and flesh covered them at a speed almost imperceptible to the naked eyes and soon Vermillion feathers spouted from the flesh and grew.

After the feathers grew fully, they become coated in flames and flapped with such force that generated a huge flamy shockwave that traveled at a blinding speed across the mountain.

A Phenix cry accompanied the shockwave encompassing the scene a mystical veil, blowing away chunks heavily.

The dust cleared and the firestorm stopped, a thud sounded and a naked Phoenix was revealed, coated with flames, seemingly unconscious on the charred floor.

...

in ancient times like this, at the green age of existence, cultivation of spiritual energy and Ascension to immortality was possible for mortals.

But for a human to ascend to immortality was rare and to survive was even harder— very few with strong bloodlines.

After Ascension to immortality for humans, comes the bloodline incarnation. A state of rebirth or transformation into a new form depicting one's bloodline.

bloodline incarnation is also known as evolution, by the monsters of Dartale; A transformation into a higher form of existence—Antiquity.

...

A couple of miles away from her was a man, who stood in expectation, ready to help in any case things go south but fortunately they didn't.

The man stood dignified and tall, arms locked behind him, his reflective obsidian eyeballs twitched ever so slightly as he observed every detail of the spectacle. His smile looked so perverted that it gives one creep but none was there to see.

However, this man wasn't thinking anything as his smile depicted, but he was happy like never before In his thousands of years of existence, for his beloved had become immortal.

An immortal or an Antiquity like him can never mate with a mortal after all.

He's been waiting for a couple of thousand years for this, and... "finally... we'll have a family." He muttered in elation, his mouth stretched further to form a wider grin, showcasing his white teeth —and his unnaturally long and thin, translucent canines.

The ponytail of his black hair, danced along with the black robe —with golden stripes— he was donning. movements ushered by the currents of the wind. He stood proud and tall– 15 ft, obviously not a mortal.

His skin was pale and milky, his obsidian eyes were reflective— sometimes can be the best choice as a mirror—filled with vast knowledge and experience. He had an Eye on his forehead, which was closed and positioned vertically.

His identity: Conan... A minor celestial, comparative in power to Gods but with different paths and sources of acquiring so-called 'power'.

And currently, he has no purpose in life as living idly in eternity had become a curse to him, he had everything he could ask for already, but one thing is missing...

Power? He was a Celestial, a being with infinite cosmic energy, with the same level of power and strength as Gods — who have divine energies—or even more than, no one knows for sure, not even he.

Eternity became a curse for him, as he began to drown in loneliness and boredom, He had nothing more to do, so he decided to peer into the lives of mortals.

...

Due to a circumstance, he was banished from the other planes and was stuck here in eardale– a plane with mortal beings as its inhabitants, the lowest of all planes, and was considered as 'trash' by the transcendent planes.

...

Seeing as mortals were always happy, knowing they'll die someday, he became fascinated —needless to say, he was once a mortal with the serpentine bloodline but those days of a cultivator were never meant to be compared to that of mortals.

Things had gotten a bit peaceful and in order, so he decided to live with mortals and watched their daily routine hence, he found a way to escape his loneliness— family.

"Our first daughter shall be named..."He cupped his chin in thought and soon he beamed and snapped his finger "Diva!" and laughed boisterously at his 'great' naming sense.

He was busy thinking of various things, high-spiritedly. Happy that he had fulfilled his dream, no longer will he be lonely, or so he thought.

Unfortunately, a pained Phoenix cry broke his train of thought and made him look up to see his wife burning and wailing profusely.

"That shouldn't be happening..."He squinted and observed but soon he realized the urgency of the pain she was expressing, he flew over to her in a flash.

He got close to her and inquired "What's the problem phiona?" even though she was on fire, he moved closer to her nevertheless, but the rudy flames were burning nothing but his robe.

He got no reasonable response however, all he got as a response was her wails and pained face. Her fiery red eyes were widened to the extreme, filled with nothing but cosmic flames and dread. Her body was literally on the same flames, burning.

He cupped her face and was about to ask the same thing again but was interrupted as he felt a sharp and burning pain in his heart.

He looked down and saw that his wife —phiona, had stabbed him through the heart with a phoenix feather and he became utterly confused.

He looked back to her face and saw her hateful glare, her face also started crumbling to ashes at that exact moment but she spoke "I hate you! You should have let me die as a mortal!"

His obsidian eyes turned misty and his breath shuddered as he watched her turn completely into ashes, his reflective eyes reflected the way she faded away under her flames.

His hands cupped nothing but flaming ashes that were her residues and the Phoenix's feather was staked through his heart, he disregarded it. A mountain of flaming ashes was wasted in front of him as tears slid down from his right eye, down his cheek.

"Have I made a mistake?"He took out the Phoenix feather and the wound closed in a second, but emotionally, he was devastated.

He stabbed the rocky, charred, floor with the feather and stood up on perceiving ominous cracks and presence from behind him.

He turned to see space cracking open and revealing a starry void beneath. Facing the threat head-on, he waited, to see two silhouettes come out of it when it had opened to a colossal extent.

The air whistled and sang a melodic song as the newcomers came into view, gracing their appearance with awe.

Conan glared at the newcomers, on seeing their smirks and transformed to his celestial form...

They didn't give him time to think or mourn, He knew something like this would happen as he had tipped the balance— for his lover— but he never expected this much.

More like, he didn't expect them to be so late, it's been two thousand years.

His height grew and a black, tight-fitting purplish black, battle suit materialized on him and also covered his face. Golden structures materialized on the suit in a chaotic array and pulsed with immense cosmic energy.

Serpentine wings spread out from his back and he took off to the air to face the newcomers— who were also levitating in the air proudly.

He hadn't yet processed what had just happened, it was like his dreams had shattered without even coming true. His mind was still replaying the last words she said and her expression when she did.

He felt so conflicted that he didn't even know what to do...

"Conan, son of Saur... We are sorry for your loss but it's necessary for the 'balance'."One of the newcomers stated in a righteous tone. He was male, appearing as a human with a helmet and full body armor, His entire presence was brimming with cosmic radiance.

"What... just happened?"Conan inquired, with hatred and anger evident in his tone. His patience was running out already. He just unexpectedly lost his girl and he felt like he had failed. But, from another point of view, he felt that the newcomers were in some ways behind the unexpected outcome of his actions.

And due to the cosmic energy these newcomers were exuding, he noticed that they were pseudo-celestials or rather henchmen of celestials which was likely not the case, but he wasn't in the condition to ponder over it.

Now, he need to know what happened, and his mind and spirit were almost at the breaking point. In just a short amount of time, he lost his only person of interest[?]— he wasn't even sure of what had happened— the darkness had loomed over his soul, and his spirit was about to get corrupted by negative emotions.

Perhaps, the annihilation of the whole plane will be on this day, if care was not taken.
