Chapter 7 - Conan: The baby sitter

Three thousand years later...

Trees rustled and waved, dancing to the melodies of the harp. The aerial creatures chirped leisurely as they sang to the tunes as the monstrosities of the jungle roared occasionally, setting out for an early morning hunt.

Crows and roars made the perfect harmony with the exquisite melody, and this went on for a while until a voice was heard.

"I made a mistake."

sizzling and boiling sounds were heard coming from the source of the voice. An aromatic smell permeated the atmosphere as the eyes of the Harper accelerated its search.

There a man stood, with an apron tied around his waist, bare-chested. With his glistening black hair, tied into a high ponytail.

The man's reflective obsidian eyes mirrored what he was doing perfectly as he concentrated on it earnestly. And what was he doing?

He was cooking. A new hobby he picked after learning a few tips from a disciple of the God of Chefs, from Athanas—a higher plane. Residence of immortal clans of various races.

Well, Athanas doesn't have a sovereign as it was filled with clans fighting for the position but none had ever won. So he was able to go there since it doesn't have a sovereign to banish him.

Conan walked to the pool after he was done cooking, with a tray filled with an array of fries. He walked along the paved floor to the pool as his white scales glistened under the brilliance of the day.

His tall but lean physique was ever sculpturesque with densely packed, strong muscles, and the most noteworthy of all is his incredible spine, which he uses to bend or twist in unnatural ways.

He placed the tray of delicious-looking meatballs by the pool and entered, basking in the coolness of the water and the warmth of the day. Strong contrasts but harmonizing to him.

He picked a greasy meatball, dipped it in the flavored milk, and ate it. Relishing its spongy and juicy chew, its sapid and spicy taste harmonized perfectly with the sweet thick milk of the Grudon— A mammalian monster with a draconic bloodline.

On the other side of the pool was another man, with his dirt blond locks hanging on his temple. his golden eyes were blank, seemingly bored out of his mind. He stared at the cloudy sky in a daze.

On his skin were overlapping, sharp, golden-yellow scales, like a modification on his built frame. His height was over 11ft; a Dragon, with a taint of Angelic bloodline. The baby had grown to be a man, an Angelic Dragon.

The hybrid baby was fed with Centaurs milk which Conan abducted from the rest of her family. It didn't work as he expected but the boy survived and started to harness spiritual energy on his own at the age of one.

Conan created an Aether Source Array for him, and he was able to complement the missing nutrients he didn't have as a baby.

The baby has also been attuned with Aether at an early age thanks to his Angelic bloodline, but that is a story for another day.

The man's eyes returned to focus as soon as he perceived an aromatic smell, especially, the smell of milk. He looked at Conan and only then did he realize that he was being spoken to.

"What mistake did you make Ol' father?"He asked Conan with a teasing grin "You rarely make mistakes, right?"

Conan ignored him and continued eating away, still, he replied later "Liam, I'm not that old..."Conan refuted "...Do you dare compare to the beauty of my grand-"

"-Okay, I understand! Let's ask Zoe who is more handsome between you and me-"Liam cut the celestial short and made a proposal, albeit, he was also cut short by that very person he was about to ask.

"Old one Conan is more handsome"The toneless and bored voice of the woman playing the harp came out, pulling eyes on her. "But he's old, really old."

The one who spoke was a woman with silver hair filled with strands of black. She wore a linen robe, which emphasized her prominent curves, and her appealing assets.

Her height was 10.5ft, also immortal.

Her silver eyes reflected nothing but utter boredom. Not amused in the least at the banter of the narcissistic duo. She fanned herself with the collar of the robe and grumbled inside 'I should be the one swimming in that water if not for that stupid Liam. What is a flame dragon doing in the pool anyways?'

She hated Liam and Liam knew of it. He watched as she played the harp, hypnotic spiritual energy radiated in the surroundings, but it didn't work on him, but the same couldn't be said for the Aerial monsters, who naturally loved songs.

Conan sighed seeing how boring the atmosphere had become. He sighed as he reminisced his adventures in the last three thousand years.

He went into the plane collecting babies or to be precise, saving them, then teaching them, nurturing them to have strong mentalities, and indoctrinating them in the path to becoming celestial.

He also learned many trivial things which he had neglected once. Like cooking, but that's a story for another day.

Two thousand years ago, he stopped collecting babies because there was no more to collect. So he rested and focused on giving his children the attention they needed.

He stopped collecting babies after the 99th and he had built a city in the unknown land he was sent to by the prime celestial.

They were never lacking here, but it was too boring. It was just them and the monsters, and there was nothing left for them to do. They never even left this side of the plane for once to venture to the populated parts. It was secluded here. And here they lived for thousands of years.

"I never thought living in seclusion will be this boring."Conan sighed as he picked another fry without looking, he proceeded to dip it in milk but the milk is nowhere to be found.

He looked to the side and saw Liam downing the milk with aggressive voracity. After completing the whole bowl of milk he belched "thanks," and returned to gazing at the sky because that was the only thing he had left to do.

Conan sighed and ate his fries, without the milk "I have decided, we are going to start a new adventure by living with mortals, sealed in our mortal forms before we proceed to the higher planes."

Zoe and Liam both frowned upon hearing what he said, the former's frown deeper.

"I only taught you guys about the world, but you never know how the world is unless you experience it. I thought you to be neutral, but you don't even know the difference between good and evil."Conan spoke as he leisurely ate his fries, his reflective eyes also showed that he was bored.

"Good and evil don't exist, you only do what you want. It is the decision you make that matters, the side you chose, and how others see you. The concept of good and evil is like the opposition between two factions, each has their ambitions, what they view as right."

"The Goddess of Life once said-"

Conan was cut short of his words when Zoe made a sharp flick on the string of the harp, sending a deadly sharp arch of spiritual energy toward him.

He ducked into the water without looking and Liam followed suit as he was beside him.

"You've said that before, times without number, it's getting boring," Zoe complained as boredom seeped out of her cold voice. She was bored to the core of her soul.

"Well..."Liam smacked his lips awkwardly "She's right, and you ended up infuriating her. Even though she didn't intend to kill us, she didn't hold back either."

Conan sighed once again and looked at Zoe "Little Zoe, we'll find interesting things to do with the mortals okay?"

Conan reassured her but she only turned away and "Humph!" She scoffed.

He smiled at their cute attitude, even though she was thousands of years old, she still doesn't know how to express herself properly.

'Ah it's a mistake, I should have raised them among the cultivators. If I did, my work might've been done by now, considering their talents.'He thought to himself.

He looked at Liam who was gazing at the aesthetic clouds and asked "Where is kitty?"

"_"

But Liam was too carried away to listen to him, he heard but he wasn't listening. Only when Conan manipulated the water and created a hand that slapped him out of it, did he come back to reality?

"Oh... she's sleeping," Liam said absentmindedly.

"What about Loki?"

"He's either supervising the young ones or playing with the Scoundrels."

"What of Mia?"

"Mia is always asleep," Liam replied as a matter of factly.

"Mia won't come with us, she needs to stabilize her Eyes, it's consuming too much energy from her."Conan said, "The rest of whom I mentioned are coming with us, so get prepared."

"Hmm..."Liam nodded with a faint smile as he gazed at the clouds again "I'll start making preparations to make my harem."

It seems the fantasy of his father had passed to him through their bloodline.

Then he started playing with water, even though he was a flame dragon. Boredom makes you do ridiculous things at times.

"Kitty is coming with us?"Zoe asked after a moment of silence from her. Her sharp eyebrows were knitted into a frown.

"Yes?"Conan raised an eyebrow at the question "Why not? She's my cute kitty after all."

Zoe smashed the harp and threw it away in anger. She stood and walked out, taking steps of fury. Her destination was unknown, probably her room.

"So grumpy..."Liam teased and soon a metal spike was hurled toward him by Zoe. The spike came at a speed almost imperceptible to the senses and its destructive power alone severed the airflow.

He swerved to avoid the spike and he succeeded easily. The spike pierced a nearby tree and a hole was left in it but the spike didn't stop its rampage there.

He breathed out and asked Conan "Ol' father, what is it that you want to do when you get to the mortal domain."

Conan pondered with his reflective obsidian eyes gazing at the trees that gently waved in the air.

Conan had come to terms with his babysitter title and he even came to love his babies. They were the family he always wanted.

He still remembers Phiona though, in sadness... speaking of which, he realized that he had been fooled. The ash of phiona got stuck in his scales that day...
